mnfesq
5 hours ago, deeveedee said: @mnfesq Congrats on the new hack! Is that a 12th gen Intel? If so, did you use this? As @ANTIKO posted, this version of Chrome Box has the 8th Gen Intel i7 processor, which happens to be the same processor/chipset as my HP laptop. That's what inspired me to attempt it. It was also helpful that I bought a refurbished Chrome Box for $150 on Amazon. It actually came with a 128 GB SSD, which I promptly replaced with a 1 TB NVMe drive. I also happened to have an M.2 pci-e Broadcom 4360 wifi/BT chip in my stash of extra computer parts so I replaced the Intel wifi/BT chip with the Broadcom chip and used OCLP to restore wifi functionality. (Yes, I am aware of your opinion about OCLP). I was not able to get AppleALC to work and am using VoodooHDA with good results. I will likely continue to try to get AppleALC to work but not because I need it, only because it is another challenge to face on a rainy day. BTW, I'm encountering problems with my laptop and I believe they are hardware based (I've replaced the motherboard and just about every other part in it except the display.) So I will likely venture into a newer generation of Intel processor soon. It's good to know that IGPU can be restored because, at least with my current laptop, I was never able to get the DGPU to work. Lastly, because it is not really on-topic, the biggest challenge for me was removing the Chrome firmware and installing a fully-functioning UEFI firmware. There is a whole community of folks that specialize in that task and I am grateful to them for the firmware/tutorials. However, I am not surprised you are getting a CPUPanic with Ventura though. I have had plenty of them. I am running Ventura's latest release 13.7.4 (testing mode) and it seems a bit better. I would first login to Sequoia and open the EFI for Ventura (different EFIs? Or just one to load everything?) just to check it in case something mangled it. Seems more likely that something in your BIOS may have changed? One thing I did was disable the Eff cores and that seems to have helped. I also had trouble with the built-in Intel 226 adapter so I left it enabled in the BIOS, but did not connect any cable to it, and decided to use this in place of it: https://www.newegg.com/wavlink-uhp505-usb/p/0J2-008P-000B2?Item=9SIA6PFKD05613 I am not at the highest technical level here so posting a separate thread might attract higher level technical folks. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/360584-release-macos-sequoia-153/page/3/#findComment-2830487 Share on other sites
