Not true... I have it and downloaded yesterday, but very busy schedule today and feeling not too well.. so will try and install tmw...

I have AMD Athlon 64 3000+ SSE2 and until now running 10.4.5 with Maxxuss kernel.

Let u know results after install ok Myzar ?

Looking forward to new 10.4.8 AMD SSE2 install dvd incl. semthex kernel... :)

oh well i guess there isn't any need for a sse2 dvd for amd

Thanks for your effort, but i've already said this and everyone killed me.

Greetings and keep up the GOOD work myzar, we really appreciate it.

Okay I replaced the mach_kernel on the tubegirl amd sse3 ppf2 iso with the exp6 kernel. Cd boots fine, I do get the graphical installer (without keyboard).

Kernel boots fine, and for a split second I can see the graphical mode (blue background) but then it goes black and hangs. Maybe this is a titan related issue? Any ideas?

Going to sleep now.

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, Athlon64 3200 (SSE2), Geforce 7900GTX.

100% success!

Myzar, we spoke in IRC about this method, you weren't around to /msg so I'm posting in your thread.

My system is an Asus A8N-E (nforce4), AMD Athlon64 3200 (sse2), and Sapphire ATI Radeon X1800

Like you suggested, I patched the tubgirl ISO with the PPF2 patch and then replaced the kernel with the exp6 and burned the modified ISO and installed.

I didn't have any issues installing. However, shortly after booting into OSX, I experienced some freezes. This was due to the nforce4 SATA problem that is well documented. I disabled the AppleVIAATA.kext and the problem went away.

10.4.8 update: working

10.4.8 kernel (exp6): working

Itunes 7: working

AC'97 sound: working

nforce networking: working

ATI X1800 display CI/QE: working

ATI X1800 DVI: working

ATI C1800 dual-monitor support: working

if the 7900GTX has 512 mb of ram yes, it doesn't work with titan, unfortunately 512mb cards hangs in that way.

Try if you can boot with -x if that fails , the only solution is boot in single user and remove titan and the nvidia kexts

how do you replace the kernel, i have the amd sse3 iso with ppf2 patch applied, and have the latest sse3 semthex kernel. after i mount the iso i dont see a mach_kernel file that i can replace with the sse2 kernel

with transmac under windows our mounting the iso rw under osx

@Myzar

Today I tried to install the tubgirl iso with the ppf2 patch and the exp6 kernel. The installation failed with a crashlog after selection of the installation language with basically a kernel protection fault... :pirate2:

crashlog attached

OSInstallCrashLog.txt

edit: looks like this error happens only in vmware... any explanations ?

so it works in native ? mhh weird i've noticed that you are giving it only 256mb of mem, try giving it 512 or maybe the emu is causing the problem with vmware

Yeah will try that in VMWare...

Also installed native though.... the installation/update (I updated a 10.4.5 volume) runs fine, but after reboot system hangs with alternating blu and black screen... I see a lot of failing dependencies in the startup log, but no kernel panics... system simply doesn't boot to full gui... any ideas ?

I would try a clean install , i've no idea about what mix can happen when you upgrade from 10.4.5

certainly it's not a mix, thats working :thumbsup_anim: ... will do a clean install... :thumbsup_anim:

the vmware problem is not related to the amount of memory in the vm (tried using more mem) , but imho related to the semthex sse2 kernel emulation... :)

10.4.8 not installing correctly to HFS partition... so partition NOT bootable in dual boot mode, only booting through CHAIN0 method...

NO --> QE/CI out of box (Ati Radeon 9250)... was hoping for this...

NO --> sound...

NO --> RTL8139 network working...

had all three working in 10.4.5 (RTL8139 even auto detected!) and have to fix these again...

conclusion: bit disappointed and this install needs certainly more attention and fixes to be suited for noobs...

sse2 kernel exp6 runs great... nice work semthex !

on the other hand it's a big achievement to have 10.4.8 running on this platform at all so thanks all for all the hard work ! :D

mhh ok so it works beside ghetto ati hardware and user error , i only care that the emu allows a sse3 install to work

yes no go in vmware... and diskutil 10.4.8 foobar... other issues will try and fix...

native installed fine... :D

btw ati no ghetto hw... :D

My first attempt wasn't successful.

First, the installation failed at the very end. I was able to boot, somewhat, into OSX after delete AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and Geforce.kext. I also had to replace IOATAFamily.kext & AppleSMBIOS.kext. However, I was only able to get as far as the Setup Assistant.app, which kept crashing.

I'm trying the install from scratch again.

I did have a question though. What methods did you use to patch and then replace the kernel. It took me awhile to do it but I want to make sure I didn't screw anything up.

Update:

Installation failed again in the same place; during the last portion of the install. Not all the files were copied. Back to drawing board. I need to create a good dvd.
