If you only use Clover for injecting the kext you should never have to reinstall any driver. If update is taking longer than 10 minutes to install and you haven't moved your mouse your display will go to sleep automatically, just let it keep going. It should reboot 3 times before it goes into macOS after update. The installation process always removes my audio devices.
