build it into a bigger case, installed a new heatsink (OCZ Vindicator - i hate it, needs children fingers to install and has no backplate)

difference ZERO :o

in windows core temp shows me while typing this ca. 50°C on each core... cinebench still in the 70s

any idea?

more:

as test i connected all fans (exept the 8 cm front fan which is on CPU fan connector now) to PSU cables

set Vcore to lowest possible setting in mainboard (bios setting was 1.215V)

PC probe says 1.19V

CPU Z says 1.192 V

Core temp says 1.300v

BIOS shows one front fan (when connected) running at 35000-50000 RPM! no this is no typo

Hardware Monitor in BIOS (only this menu) runs with the speed of a 1970s pocket calculator... needs up to 30 seconds to step through the next selection.

Bios loses settings sometimes

temp tested with Core Temp:

IDLE: cores at 42-49°C

running PRIME95: up to 81°C after 5 minutes

Phoned Computer store - they say my Mainboard is defective - i will get a new one

Finally after 10 hours of trial and error I updated my jas 10.4.9 to intel mac 10.4.10 update from apple. I used the kooskaspers guide 10.4.9 to 10.4.10 guide. I downloaded the kernel 8.10.1 from I don't know where.

I used the taragu and the max32000 ALC882 applehda v0.4b installer for all sound working in and out.

I used the jas 10.4.9 combo updater to get my network sharing and internet working. There is a file called 10.4.4 login window then a file called mpip103_10.4.9.smb.cifs.apf.fix.dmg

These files saved my ass.

I couldn't have done it without you guys. I don't think apple has anything to worry about as far as losing money to hackintoshes because it is just too damn hard to fake this {censored}. Just buy a mac.

But I must say it sure is sweet to have a 500 semi mac pro hackintosh. :P

PS if you need to search for any of these things I found a great search filter for insanelymac.com. You just use google.

Type: p5w+kernel+site:insanelymac.com into google and you'll find what you need. ;)

Ehm I've bin using a mac for 6 years now why in gods name upgrade now?

Apple version 1 tends to BUG mondo!

And believe me its in software and hardware . the first imac g5 the first powerbooks , the first intel hardware ect ect

apple drops the ball every time.

the version we all have was a rush job no good time to test it.

if you want to go install for fun go for it ! if you want a stable system

Just wait befor you switch till there are some bug fixes.

and because if every up date is going to be a B@($ like 4.9 ->4.10 ill just wait for a 10.5.3 version to come

Ever wonder what chips your asus P5W DH is using?

found a real good page with nice pics of all the major chips an a complete description

http://www.benchzone.com/page.php?al=asus_...deluxe&pg=4

the revieuw of this board is so complete it even describes every bios option :S

and has screen shots of all the bios windows hmm that could come in verry handy some day

For those of you that want sound and run a Sigmatel chip, you may want to back up your AppleHDA.kext from 10.4.x too.

The same AppleHDA.kext that ran on 10.4.10 for my Bad Axe 2's audio works flawlessly on Leopard.

well i dont have 10.5 installed but basicly we copy the old kext files

soif you put your old kext file from 10.4.10 in the root

open terminal

sudo -s

cp -R AppleHDA.kext /System/Library/Extensions

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

and reboot

I am running logic studio and I have run out of room on my two 160 gb sata drives, the logic install is huge+final cut pro etc.. I was looking into getting a seagate 500 sata.

I have redundant data + O.S. on both drives and would like to keep them both. So my question is: Has anyone put 3 or more sata drives in their p5w?

I haven't heard of anyone running more than 2 sata.

Does anyone know how many sata can be run?

Thanks

PS this is for 10.4.9

. . Hi; I have 3x SATA HDDs connected to the non-orange/non-'EZbackup' ports of the ICH7R: works fine.

got it found this in the P5b thread

http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t32426.html

PATA controller: JMicron 363

0. open terminal and sudo -s

1. sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/AppleVIAATA.kext/contents/info.plist

2. search for VIA SATA Controller

3. Add 0x2363197B to <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>

(control and O . y enter . control X)saves file and exits

4. sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAHCIPort.kext/Contents/Info.plist

5. search for GenericAHCI

6. change the IOPCIClassMatch string to 0x2363197B

(control and O . y enter . control X)saves file and exits

7. Repair permissions:

CODE

sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleVIAATA.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 AppleVIAATA.kext

sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleAHCIPort.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 AppleAHCIPort.kext

sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

8. Switch your controller ICH8R to IDE in BIOS
