Oh, sorry, just checked it a couple of hours ago and there was nothing on demo, but yeah, it's there right now! Thanks dude! Going to start torrent and will let it seed on full power the next week.

I have no problems with the first release, except for no install on laptop.

JaS, is there a possibility that some one fake seeding like the previous DVD?

oh by the way, This DVD boot with 10.4.4 kernel but upgrade to semthex or mifki kernel during install right?

Firstly, wanna say thanks to Jas, mikfi, semthex,omni, np_ etc etc for making my osx86 experience complete! good job guys!!

 

installed using Jas.10.4.8 DVD (the first one)

had to use the 10.4.6 to reformat the partition then install to avoid the "Missing operating System" problem

able to boot using both kernels, semthex and mikfi, currently sticking to mikfi's kernel with NoNX and HPET as i can set my fsb in the boot.plist (feels a bit smoother though after using mikfi's kernel)

About Mac crashes - installed the one from 10.4.6 to rectify it

iCal crashes - didnt bother coz i dont use it anyway

getting QE/CI with my 6800 AGP :spam:

working sound, lan "out of the box"

 

the downside so far

can't restart, can only shut down

 

anyhow, its been a good experience so far. Thanks!

JaS 10.4.8 (mifki) working on Intel 945PVSLKR with Pentium D 3GHz!

Enabled HPET in BIOS, Ran Disk Utility from 10.4.6, installed 10.4.8 mifki, no crash on "about this mac".

LAN, USB, Firewire, SATA, PATA, everything works out of the box, except Sigmatel audio, which needed Azalia.

 

Also Titan worked perfectly with my XFX Dual DVI GeForce 6600GT, on one monitor!

solution for boot problems

 

boot from your install dvd

 

in terminal type : diskutil list

now you see all drives

 

in terminal : fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 0 is your disk number...it can be 1 or 4

 

type : p

now you se all partitions on your disk

 

type : f 1 1 is partition you want to be active...also can be 2 or 4 or 3

 

type : y yes you want

 

type : write

 

type : exit

 

now your partition is active...you can boot without dvd

 

 

 

my system:

 

clevod900t

-jas 10.4.8 dvd with semthex on external usb drive

-x800 mobility (5d4a) working with koverg patch and callisto 03... 1920x1200x32 on laptops lcd with qe/ci

-creative usb soundblaster is working

-realtek rtl8169/8110 is not working / in other jas systems works fine

Hello,

 

Thanks a lot JaS, I got it within a couple of hours, md5 is OK.

I tried it in vmware 5.5.2 and as with the previous DVD, I get a "kernel stack fault". If I boot with the -v option the fault occurs while entering graphics mode (grey screen with the apple).

If you need VMware testers, I can become one, just send me a PM.

Hey guys,

 

ON TEST PC 2 LISTED BELOW

 

Using 10.4.8 dvd I'm still stuck on "Still waiting for root device" error. I've tried putting my IDE HD as master & slave on both Primary & Secondary and still same error.

 

When using VMware and 10.4.8 DVD VMware resets after first 4 lines of the code "loading extencions.kext..."

 

Any recommendations???

 

BTW...10.4.7 DVD runs fine.

My experience:

 

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

Asus P5WDH-Deluxe

Corsair XMS2 PC6400 2x1GB

 

The second release of jas 10.4.8 install DVD SSE3 only booted fine,

and installed fine with the semthex kernel.

 

After that the network woudn't get an IP address.

So that was really f***ed.

 

So I picked the networkfamily kext from 10.4.7 and moved it to 10.4.8.

And that worked.

But my audio was also f***ed.

 

I editted my audio kext, but I woudn't load the kext, so I did the editting again, without succes,

so I moved my AppleAzaliaAudio.kext from my 10.4.7 Volume which was already patcht for the chipset by me.

After that, I managed to get the stuff working with some chown -R root:wheel and chmod -R 755 etc patching.

 

Alright.

After that I got the stuff working, I repaired my permissions, and got the system running.

I had my cpu at 3GHZ clocked, so I set my frontsidebus to 333 in the kernel flags which booted with

fsb=333 -v

 

So then I got started to test my system.

I opened some apps BUT my whole system froze and I had to reset the PC.

That happend for about all the time, I think I never have managed to shutdown the PC normally.

 

So that was really F-U-C-*-E-D

 

I read on IRC that the only solution was to disable one core, boot with cpus=1

But you don't want to run with a single core on a core 2 duo, thats just {censored}..

 

SO,

I installed 10.4.7 and I don't have probs anymore...

 

So P5W-DH Deluxe users with a Core 2 Duo,

I won't blame JaS for this, but f*** 10.4.8 on our systems,

Just use 10.4.7

I`ve just arrived from a small trip and managed to install 10.4.8 I helped to seed.

 

But 2 glitches:

 

1) no USB = I`ve selected the package on the install

2) Azalia Audio = same thing, but no go too.

 

Can someone help?

Just use 10.4.7

 

As you shouldn't blame me,A new release with new kernel is not going to work like a windows install disk.

 

Nothing really should ever work out of the box,I just have made it easy in the past,If everyone says f*** it I dont want to install this and make it work,we will never have a working release for everyone like 10.4.7 was.

Well, here's what I tried so far:

 

775i945GZ Asrock Board

Celeron D 3.2 GHz

 

Burned the ISO with Disco.

Chose one language and hp-printers, no fonts.

Patches chosen: 10.4.8 combo, mifkis kernel, gma950, usb2.0

The check of the DVD failed.

Burned the ISO with Toast.

Chose one language and hp-printers, no fonts.

Patches chosen: 10.4.8 combo, mifkis kernel, gma950, usb2.0

Check still failed, I pressed Ignore this time.

Install went through.

On reboot I got a black screen with a few blue blocks. Mouse was moving, nothing else.

 

Trying again now with a clean HD,
