GuySmiley
Does anybody know what to expect with the next Alpha release from the guys at MacVidia? Apparently it's coming real soon, and yes I should be patient but some teasers would be nice ;-)
omni
...they need to put the source up on SourceForge so that other people can contribute, it might get done sooner that way.
jrrjrr
Maybe this info will be useful to someone . . . After going throught the steps to set up the AppleI386PCI.kext and the NVidia.kext, when I look at system profiler, I find that my video card is listed correctly and the bus is noted as AGP. But, when I boot with platform=ACPI, system profiler says the video kext is not loaded. When I boot with platform=X86PC, system profiler doesn't complain about the video kext not being loaded. Either way, the kext appears to be loaded according to kextstat. Machine is a Dell laptop with an FX 5200 Go card.

polarbear2003
No Yes ,you can set /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/Com.Apple.boot.plist, add a item : "Graphics Mode" string: 1024x768x32@100 @100 is 100Hz before add it ensure your monitor can display at 100Hz
clarkbigpie
I was able to get this to work with my GeForce FX5200, but the AGP kext mentioned in a link earlier made my system freeze on boot up. I had to boot in safe mode and put the original kext back. So now I've got the FX5200 recognized, but it still says that it is a PCI card. how did you put theoriginal kext back i tried "cp -R" copy the kext to /system/library/extensions/ it says "read-only" how can write files in the directory

r0ck3r4ever
macvidia project is not dead ? well I think is dead, no updates so far, we should wait for the first mactels in january and then we can have the driver only if they use nvidia cards on those. let's hope they do. ati is allready starting to be supported. roxtaz
how did you do that?? i have a same card with the sameDevID, and ive modified plist ,but it never work I followed some usefull tutorial around: First one with CPU to AGP Bridge (AppleI386PCI.kext) and second one from the download section on macvidia site ! It's easy! Just follow the steps and do a lot of search in forum. Good Luck! BTW It's working only in 10.1! DerFlash
Is there a compiled alpha-driver for 10.4.3 availble? The old one won't load (says something about framework error). right, the exact error is: # kextload -t NVidia.kextkextload: extension NVidia.kext appears to be valid kextload: notice: extension NVidia.kext has debug properties set 6NVIDIA is not compatible with its superclass, 17IONDRVFramebuffer superclass changed? kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension NVidia.kext load failed for extension NVidia.kext (run kextload with -t for diagnostic output) would be nice to hear, that this project still is not dead :-)
chr1s2k
I am sorry to bother everyone but i cant even figure out how to get started. I have the alpha driver but not sure how to install it. I have been troubleshooting this for 4 hours and have tried to find the answer before posting. Can someone advise me how to install this driver. Edit: I was able to edit the info.plist with the required info but when i went to chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVidia.kext i got operation not permitted any ideas what i can do, thanks in advance Edited January 20, 2006 by chr1s2k
snackole
The command should be "sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVidia.kext" then enter your password at the prompt.
