hmmm my sleep works fine

you can play around with it its not a perfect driver it works off and on I was hoping we could figure it out together its the first driver I ever helped compile

I wonder why you named your kext as SmallTree82594!?

The other thing that ocupies my mind is where is the source code? SmallTree just gave it to you, or this is a binary hack. If later, it will not work. Period.

Now be honest with us, upload sources (i have experience in coding drivers and I'm willing to help), or just tell us that you were messing with us to put an end on this f.....g 82566 nightmare!

Thank you for share the kext a lot of people, including me, were waiting for this..

However a lot of questions remain, the ID's within the kext doesn't make any sense, they don't seems related to the 82566 family. After matching the ID with my card the kext is not loaded, even after a manual load it doesn't work.

If you have the source upload it, some people around here should be able to help.

Here Is The Driver Sorry i am late i had to do some work stuff and return the rental car and pick out a new one Its been busy but here it is.

Here Is The Driver

Here a screen shot

By The Way I Have not been ignoring anybody so frantisheq {censored} you. The forum Is MY HOME PAGE so when safari opens it says im here ame with my iphone. I have been really busy and i will still be busy but i am tryin to work x86 stuff in to it to so just chill sorry it took a bit. Thanks tek_no for the understanding and every one else who didnt talk {censored}. {censored} frantiheq,

Hey man, no problemo! Some people should start reading some more topics here in OSX86Project! It's not the first time that a developer quits working on a driver because too many people started to get impatient. Another good example of this "omni" who stopped his work on the Callisto (video) drivers due to problems with people not really sticking to the rules...

Well, I hope everybody is happy now and we can continue to try to get this driver working on most systems...

Thx for posting the driver :dev:

Take care,

Tek_No

Sorry if I sounded rude it wasn't my intention.

What I was trying to said was that the ID's in the plist file within the kext doesn't look like 82566 ones, in my case is 0x104b8086. The kext is not loaded automatically even after matching the ID with my hardware and a manual kextload doesn't change anything, the NIC remain unrecognized. So I was wondering, which is your NIC ID ? did you do something special to load the kext or match your card ID?

Cheers and thanks for your work.

Guys I need your Motherboard chip sets and Models mine is Intel X38 with 800 1600 1333 mhz FSB

Not sure where this one is leading to??? Can't you just share the correct installation package so we can ALL work together on this?

FYI: HP Compaq 8710p Laptop (dual Centrino Pro 2.2gHz - 2gb RAM - 800mhz fsb - Chipset Mobile™ Intel® 965PM Express Chipset)

Thx

WHOA! That's definitely not in the XPS 410.

NOW I know how come we couldn't get our internet working...

Everyone in here has P965's.

Been reading through most of this thread but there are way too many posts.

I finally got OSX working on my Dimension 9200 (XPS 410 in disguise) and i'm having a few problems.

I used Kalyway 10.5.1 install disk.

My first problem is that the computer won't wake back up properly after clicking sleep on the menu.

The second is that clicking on stacks will cause a hard lock in finder. Mouse cursor still moves and keyboard is still responsive to caps lock changes but finder is totally unresponsive.

System Specs:

Dimension 9200 (XPS 410)

  • Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
  • 8600GT (with 10.5.2 kexts)
  • Audio working with AppleHDA patcher and 9227 patch
  • No network like everyone else (this whole driver debacle with bigdaddyrob2g reminds me of the guys at increw with speedit)
  • Dell agere firewire card (fully working)
  • some modem i think
  • 2x320GB drives in RAID, 1x250, 1x80GB for OSX (BIOS is set for RAID mode, OSX seems to work fine with this so i don't know if this is an issue)

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

@Bigdaddyrob2g, don't give up.

Really.

If the port is going to be made from the real 82566 FreeBSD source, then @everybody: IT WILL WORK.

again @bigdaddyrob2g, if it doesn't work on your computer, post the kext source/binaries online and it might work on ours, since it's a port from the 82566 source instead of the 82594.

Ditto

i think that on netkas.org someone mentioned that it could be problem of beta kexts from 10.5.2. maybe this will help you - 8600GT

try to use original AppleACPIPlatform.kext. not perfect because i can't shutdown after wake but everything else works. oh and no speedstep (correct me if i'm wrong)

AppleACPIPlatform.kext.zip

Thanks frantisheq. I'll try out the ACPI kext when i get home. I'm not sure they are having the same graphics problems as me though. I'll have to do more reading though because they aren't clear in that thread as to what issue they were fixing ;)

Thanks again!

Would anyone be interested in writing me a complete dummies guide to getting the Kalyway 10.5.1 disc to install on my XPS 410?

I was almost always able to make the old 1.4 installs work but I just can't get this one to go for the life of me.

When I say a completely dummies guide by the way I mean a very simple, concise, fully detailed guide.

Personally I'd just love to buy a Mac and call it done, but the wife won't let me as of yet

That or perhaps just a bit of troubleshooting help.

I can finish the install with the disc, but after rebooting it doesnt start unless I have the disc in the drive.

When I hit F8 with the disc in it doesn't offer me a boot option, but if I just let it go it does boot.

However almost immediately after it starts loading and the little circle is spinning the screen goes to a darker grey with a box telling me I have to reboot.

I'm assuming that's a kernel panic, and I'd love to know how to get it not to happen.

I've tried both the GUID EFI install (which failed) the MBR EFI install (which is what fails as mentioned above)

On all installs I've used the Vanilla Kernel with the ACPI patch, and I've tried it with hardware drivers enabled in the installer and without.

I was having problems with putting my XPS/D9200 into sleep mode but not with restart and shut down was a bit temperamental, though it shut's down properly more often than not. So a few days ago I installed the attached kext, copied it over and repaired permissions. I got a kernal panic when Speedstep was turned on and the kext made no difference when Speedstep was turned off.

Have I missed something?
