Hmm, but everyone is getting impatient. He knows what to do at this moment. Just hope, he does that ASAP.

Nirmalya i see that your Sigmatel 9227 is not working. Have you tried http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=18377 and deleted AppleAzalia.kext? works for me on leopard and after changing Boost from 0 to 3 in kext rear mic works too.

Oh, I don't use that board anymore. It was not working at a point. So I decided to go for a new board. Now the Sound works, LAN doesn't :P . I forgot to update my signature ;)

Has anyone found any further information about the audio not working on the xps 410 under Leopard ? Last I knew the current HDA patchers (version 1.12 - 1.20) will not work with leopard and the Sigmatel 9227 dump file.

AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16.zip and STAC9227_83847618.txt WORKS!!! this removes AppleAZALIAXXX.kext also(very important!!)then to get everything working dump the two files fromSTAC9227_83847618.zip testing into extensions, chown, chmod, rm mkext and you should have it ALL workingSticMANps there is also a new installer on Taruga's post try it it does it all for you, dont forget to loose AppleAZALIAXXX.kext
Excellent. this totally did the trick for me. Now if that mystery ethernet driver shows up...the AppleAZALIAXXX.kext was eff'ing me up. once i deleted it i was golden.

does anyone have VMM (Virtual Machine Monitoring) turned on in their bios?

I have it turned off, and parallels says that it is running in 'software mode2'..

when i turn VMM on, parellels says that it is using full/hardware virtualisation - or something like that..

the only problem, is that my system become unstable with VMM turned on..

i'm kinda thinking that i may need to reinstall osx with VMM turned on to get it to work - like when windows is installed with hyperthreading it only installs the hal that it matches the hardware description it detects.. if you disable hyperthreading then it will installl a version of windoes that doesn't support it..

BTW i'm using uphuck 10.4.9 1.4i r3 and i have a Dimension 9200 Quad w/4GB ram..

What exactly do you have to do in the console besides chmod and chown? How do you remove the mkext? Can you please post the exact terminal lines that needs to be typed? I have used them before, but they did not work.

If VMware Fusion could interface directly with the hardware instead of OS X, then we could build a virtual network bridge between a mini-XP system on VMF and Leopard/Tiger, creating a not-so-fast crude internet....

But that's stupid...

If you are talking about the VT features of your Intel CPU, a reinstall shouldn't be necessary.

This sounds like a problem more with Parallels. I would try Fusion and see if the problem persists with it too.

Anyone having reliability problems with Kalyway 10.5.1?

I installed it on my XPS 410. Used Vanilla and GUID with EFI. After the system sits idle for a while and I come back and do something simple, like click an icon on the desktop I get the spinning beach ball. Eventually I can do nothing but power off the system manually.

This has happened with a couple of different clean installs of Kalyway 10.5.1.

Does anyone face trouble with videocard's fan?

My videocard on my XPS 410 is a Geforce 7900 GS.

The fan is always at full speed making a quiet disturbing noise... :)

I faced the same problem with all Leopard releases (I am currently under Kalyway) but also under Vista.

Under XP, the fan boosted at full speed only when needed (mainly 3D applications), which was for me a normal situation.

I am afraid is linked to the Geforce drivers and more unfortunately to the videoacard bios.

Any idea to solve that?

How close to you guys' XPS 410 is my 400? I cant get any vanilla kernel support, it just reboots when i try.

From what I've read, I think your CPU doesn't support vanilla, but I'm not really sure.

Does anyone know of an out of the box working NIC that I can order easily, say from Newegg.com? Or anything that works that I can go pick up from Best Buy or Wal-Mart? :thumbsup_anim: (For Leopard 10.5.1)
