How did you guys get sound? My machine is a Dell Dimension 9200 (same thing as XPS410 I think, just different chasis) and the Sigmatel 9200. On my first try I had sound after I installed the driver (Taruga's patcher with a 9227 dump), then after about two or three weeks, it quit and there was no audio output and no sound icon. I reinstalled the driver and rebooted a few times, and it started working again. Then it broke after I rebooted to XP to play some Counter-Strike. From then on, I could't ever get sound. I've done multiple reinstalls (the only difference between this install and my first one is that I used Natit video drivers instead of Titan. Should't make a difference, though) and the audio STILL won't work. The funny thing is, when I first boot up from the brand-new install, it has the audio icon on the top right corner, but when I try to play something, there is no sound! And after a reboot without doing anything, the icon's gone! I have tried to install the driver using Taruga's 1.6 patcher, some 9227 dumps, and my own codec dump from knoppix. What's also wierd is that when I use my own codec dump, it says SPDIF OUT: DETECTED instead of the NOT DETECTED on the drivers everyone else is using.

Don't scratch your head, because I know I accidently pulled some hairs out trying to solve this.

I have a very similar issue: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=538766

Heres the weird part:

If I now use my codec dump with HDApatcher v.120 and reboot, i still don't have audio, but by doing this, if I try HDApatcher v1.13 again i get working audio once more.

Of course the cycle repeats and if I reboot I lose audio again.

I'm gonna try that and report back.

huh, that's weird... I just installed the knoppix dump with 1.13, and the computer went to sleep cause I went to eat dinner. Seeing that I could'nt get out of that, I rebooted. Then I installed the drivers again using 1.13. After reboot, I have audio back!!! Now I don't know if I reboot and the audio will disappear again or not. I am sending this from my iPhone because I lost my USB wireless card I have been using before we moved.

I restarted my computer from OSX and nearly panicked when the computer wouldn't load past the AHCI/RAID bios screen. I kept restarting and removing drives etc.

I found out that the computer would eventually boot fine (~5 minutes later) but it was some scare. I'm not sure i want to boot to OSX any more!

Has anyone had any success installing and setting up Parallels Desktop 3.0? I need to be able to use Windows XP inside Leopard (unless anyone knows a way to get Outlook Web Access 2003 to work in Firefox).

I installed Parallels, but I am not able to kick off the Windows XP installation. Most of the time, the program crashes after I launch it. If there is another virtualization alternative that is better (and hopefully FREE), please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Brandon

no problem here. 3.0 build 5582

got an old realtek network card from a friend.... don't know what one yet....

anyways... it works in tiger... but not in leopard  anybody know what the problem would be?

try to use working IONetworkingFamily.kext from tiger in leopard

@phunkysai...

VirtualBox worked like a charm. The only thing I can't get to work is the sound and the shared folders. For some reason, within XP, I can't see the "Entire Network", so I can't map to the Shared Folder I created via the add-in. If anyone has any insight on that, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Brandon

I dual-boot XP and Leopard, but I spend most of time in Leopard and only boot into XP to play games really.

I use Acronis OS bootloader to switch between the two.

how did you get acronis to recognize leopard??? which OS did you install first?? while in XP acronis will not recognize the leopard oS???

i get: detected unsupported hard disk drives...and im pretty sure they are referencing the leopard

I use this on both Linux and OS X when I explicitly need Internet Explorer:

Well, it didn't say "Leopard" when I first installed Acronis...it said "Unknown" or something like that, but I renamed it to "Hackintosh." When I selected it it boot to OSX.

I installed XP first on one partition, and then Leopard 10.5.1. Kalyway on the second partition. I then installed the latest version of Acronis OS selector (version 10.x - I'm not sure if previous versions recognize osx). Like I said, I then renamed the "unknown" partition which I knew to be OSX to "Hackintosh" and can now boot to whichever.

Hope that helps...

well i'll try the kext for the nic later...... i screwed it up somehow......... i don't remember.....

anyways both my tiger and leopard are broken right now......

anybody know what kexts i need for the sata? (what i'm saying is what are they called so i can get them off my tiger install......)
