So just wondering, are my posts invisible around here or something? ;)

I've got an XPS410 and it seems none of the builds will install for me even when following the install guides to the letter.

What happens after you install? I prolly missed that in your previous posts...

Have you tried searching around these forums? I found most of my answers by searching around the forums.

Hopefully someone around here will be able to help, cause I'm a total newb whose Kalyway install worked pretty flawlessly...

maybe you should make your own DVD. iAtkos didn't work for me too, haven't tried final kalyway only 9a527 that just worked but i've made my own full DL-DVD using BrazilMac scripts as guide and no problems

When I tried BrazilMac, it gave me "waiting for root device" error... I might download both iAtkos Leopard 10.5.2 or Kalaway to see if that makes a difference.

I don't have all the specs for my machine....anyone know a good system scanner for OSX?

I don't get why people have problems with iATKOS, it's the only install disc that has worked perfectly for me.

Has anyone installed 10.5.2 on their 410/9200 yet?

czpcgk say what you want but i am doing it for free and i dont have to give it anyone at all. Dont even talk {censored} you cant even get your sound working. Find your driver some place else. According to other post in this forum some one else is making a driver as well. Atleast here you know its being worked on but you people Cry so much that it makes me not even want to release it, some times things work on one computer but not on another of the same kind look at all the tutorials on how to install os x on a pc there is always people that it doesnt work for.

This is unbelievable, how the hell can you be in this community and say {censored} like this? Every time I make a discovery, or write something new, or find a way to make things work, I want nothing more than to share it with the rest of the hackintosh community. People who spew sh 1 7 like you tend to be full of hot air and have nothing to contribute, in past experience. If you do have something, you're just being ridiculously rude.

I am doing my best but i hear sticman is making one. Dont call me full of hot air and dont say i have nothing to contribute i have been working very hard on this driver and got nothing but {censored} from it the all treated me like {censored} except for a few and i even help a couple others with there installs.

No offense but basically its only 2 or 3 main people that have given you a hard time.

Lets be honest, you aren't an experienced programmer, let alone a I/O driver programmer (you admitted as much) and knowing that they doubt you will make a working driver other than possibly hacking some other drivers and getting sporadic results. Although they may have been harsh/rude, they are entitled to their opinions.

Whether you want to share your work with others is up to you, but obviously you are going to alienate people when you make a post proclaiming that you are only giving the driver to some people. Tips for new programmers releasing to the public: don't make release dates until coding is done, and don't worry/engage in personal battles with strangers! :wub:

P.S. Did you ever read the "Writing an I/O Kit tutorial" I sent you early on?

Well I, for one don't believe in Mr. Bigdaddyrob2g because of the whole series of unfortunate events that has been happening to them and they're now mysteriously gone! It started with the power surge, the christmas leave, the car accident, the comcast idiots, and then the kext copy from SmallTree's 82598 drivers. I don't believe that all this could have really happened. And if you're checking this forum so much and have time to talk back this {censored}, then you obviously aren't working on anything worth trying. Correct me if I'm wrong.

And I can't get my sound working cause it's a real pain in the ass! I've followed everyone's instructions (AppleHDA patcher 1.16 and the dump (it worked for like two or three weeks and then stopped working), I know. I've even tried my own Knoppix dump) and reinstalled leopard countless times, and STILL my sound works sporatically. Something must be wrong with it...

Oh, and also what outZider said.

I've installed iAktos 10,5,1 DVD... with 10,5,2 update and it works fine on my XPS 420 Quad except for NIC and HD sound. Sometimes, immediately after Taruga patch, sound work but after reboot it allways fails. I can't see any log, permissions/owners are OK, kext cache is rebuild too... Has anyone any idea ?

For NIC I've installed my old Belkin FDS 7000 v3 (Ralink drivers) and use it waiting for a driver for my onboard Intel 82566...

Sounds like you have the same problem I have that I mentioned to you before. Have you gone back and tried my workaround again maybe trying different HDApatcher versions until you find the key?

Here it is how I get sound on my XPS 420 Dellintosh

* Sound procedure for "working" sound on XPS 420

* Step A ( step A from my brain memory :-))

* delete System/Library/Extensions/ALCinject.kext and /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

* reboot

* patch using Headrush69 patch.txt and AppleHDAPatcher 1.3

* archive /System/Library/Extensions/ALCinject.kext and /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext ( don't forget to preserve permission, I use rsync)

* Step B

* reboot

* restore archived (at step A) ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext

* patch using Headrush69 patch.txt and AppleHDAPatcher 2.0

* "load" sound by checking "System Preference"

* delete ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext: important: these one should not be there at systeme startup

* repeat Step B at each boot, and I have working sound each time.

hope it help.

(if you get better, please tell me :-) )

1. download stac9227*.zip from taruga and unzip

2. add audio device path to EFI string - with help of lspci and gfxutil

3. sudo -s

4. rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzalia*

5. rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

6. cp AppleHDA.kext /System/Library/Extensions

7. chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

8. chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

9. rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

10. reboot, hold F8, -f -v

11. voila! no need for injector. change boost to 3 in /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext/Contents/Info.plist to make microphone hear you

czpcgk have you tried to ask for help with sound on IRC? #leopard on irc.osx86.hu - sometimes taruga appears there

I have NO experience with IRC and I think it will be a pain in the ass until I get wireless working on my Hackintosh. Otherwise I'll be waiting all day for the system to boot because it takes a full minute to do so. But that's another problem that you can help me solve.

Link to "Headrush69 patch.txt" please? By "archive" do you mean "backup" and how do you "preserve permissions"? And how do you make sure that they are not loaded at system startup?

Link to "stac9227*.zip" please? How do I add audio device path to EFI string (sorry if I sound noobish)?

Oh, and also, will a Buffalo wireless PCI card work? I've heard that some work with Leopard.

Thank you everyone for helping me!

if you'll try IRC then use Colloquy. You need to turn on AHCI/RAID mode in BIOS to boot faster without that infamous pause and that means you'll need to get Mac OS working in AHCI mode. you can try kexts i'm using - ICH8-R AHCI

ok and this where you'll get gfxutil and pciutil http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/board,2.0.html and a HOWTO maybe you'll need to register.

oh and a link to stac9227_83847618_testing.zip

I get his patch from this site, probably this thread.

By "archive" I mean: put it in a safe place you'll never delete nor modify

I preserve permission by using right option with rsync (--verbose --recursive --links --hard-links --perms --owner --group --devices --times --sparse --partial --stats --progress --extended-attributes).

I am sure there are not loaded at startup because the file does not exist at that time.

Sorry I can't remember exactly the "step A"

I know this is somewhat ugly. I wish I have a better way.

I remember I used the files from STAC9227, placed them in system/library/extensions/ then I deleted Azalia audio file, then I did the chmod and chown in the console, rebooted, without going to disk utility to repair permission and my sound worked each time I booted into Leopard without any modifying each time.

can you tell us EXACLY what you did?

I will try, its been a while since I played around with leopard since the internet didnt work and then I had no use for it to use it on my main xps 410 since all I do is surf the web and use it for school sometimes. I used the zip file with the stac9227, not the testing one. I will try and find it on my flash drive and maybe upload it if I can.

I went to System/Library? I think and there is a file there called Azalia Audio, I believe it is a kext. It should be alone in the System folder if not, then in the Library folder. I deleted that, I think there may be 2 of them, one in system or library and another in the extension area.

Then in the extensions folder I copied and pasted the two files from the stac9227.zip archive. I said yes and replaced them; I then went into the console and did this:

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

Do the same thing for the other file, I know there are 2 of them, but I forget the name from the top of my head. I think you have to do chmod before chown, I'm sorry Im not really sure as it has been while since I last messed with it. Then just restart your system and boot back up into leopard and go to sound settings and you should see that it works.
