Hi, i'm completely new to the hackintosh scene, but I have lurked for many years, getting near building a project and then having too much difficulty figuring out how to get started or having other things take my time.  I'm finally taking the plunge now and bought hardware that I specifically hoped could be used for a hackintosh (though if it does not I can make another use of it) and i'm hoping to learn how this all goes.

I'm not all that familiar with Macintosh things in general but need to learn, i'm trying to go to school for audiovisual production and apple stuff is EVERYWHERE, but the 'apple tax' can be burdensome, and some of the poor hardware design (for serviceability/lifespan) can be a hassle.  So i'm really hoping to learn hackintoshing.

Welcome! A good place to start is Dortania Guide.

Tell us your hardware specifications.

I am wanting to put some working recent version of OSX (maybe 12? undecided - whatever works on internet still) onto an HP Z440 workstation.  That has a C612 intel chipset.  It also has an AMD RX 470 card w displayport, thunderbolt 2 card i'd like to try to get working (yes support exists on the motherboard itself with this card), and I have an Apple thunderbolt 2 2560x1440 i think monitor i'd like to see if there's any way I could get working too.

First i'm trying to get whatever remaining hardware would be necessary (wifi/BT card?) and decide which version of OSX to attempt.  (I intend this to be the first of multiple installs and learning projects including other hardware)

Hi, I can't remember the email I've used to register here, I created a new account, but I would like to recover my original acc. My user is t80u, could be possible to get by PM the email address I've used to register that account, please? I tried login with my username and password but it won't accept username anymore, it needs email address :( Thanks!

Hello!

Let's recover it 😁

@Slice i see. Thanks for clarifying.

So here is one of my hacks. It's a Xeon E3 1271 V3 running Monterey, Win11 and XP via Opencore. It's a clean build in a G5 case with a modified Seasonic PSU in the shell of the original PSU. It has USB3 on the front in the original power switch assembly. It's a "no Bondo build". Means everything was machined to fit and not glued in like in many other builds

This is the insides of my Mac G4 MDD FW 800 running Tiger, Leopard and OS9.

Usually the FW800 machines won't run OS9. This and the modifications make it a Hack, although not running on i386.

The G4 MDDs are also known als "wind tunnel" because of their loud operating fans. This build is inaudible, running cool at 58°C at 30dB under full load. Again with modern PSU, SSDs, Zalman CNPS heatsink and other shenanigans.

I started modifying it in 2005 and continued working on it until the current day. It's main purpose is driving SCSI drum scanners for digitizing film photographs. Sometimes i'm enjoying it listening Flac files on the RME Digi 96/8 soundcard. A high end sound card from the late 90ies with Xilinx Spartan chip. This card has an exceptionally good dedicated headphone amplifier, which easily drives AKG K701, my headphone of choice since 2010. I'm preferring open headphones, hence the silent built.

I don't know if it is within @Slice scope to grant that request.

See here for better understanding. As new users, we all had to go through the process before getting the ability to post/comment in all Forums.

Thanks for clarifying. I understand. I would appreciate if there was something about that in the forum rules though. Or maybe a popup right in my face telling me what's going on like: "3/5 USEFUL comments left until full member".

Without info, for newbies like me, it may feel like being left behind for unknown reasons.

I can't. Researched for people in need on the last 5 pages and @miliuco is snatching them away every time 😂

I mean i am good at repairing rockets and toasters. If i can offer my help on any plans of taking over the eastern hemisphere or on black toasts... Here i am!
