try changing it to AHCI. Or also just try rebooting.

On occasion I would have problems with it loading up the right drive. Sometimes I'd have to change the native mode setting around.

The combo that works the best is to set Sata native mode to Enabled, and the other setting to IDE. If it doesn't work the first time, try a reboot.

Do me a favor and keep any more support on my patch in the thread I made here:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34938

it did work, the reason it didnt the first time when i posted is because i had left an unpatched dvd in my other drive an that was the one it was trying to install from, duh! it was late and i was tired and i didn't realize that.

the 10.4.8 download has finished.. but im fully unlucky

10.4.8 installation cant boot here..

with any bios option, any sata port, i got still waintg for root device..

the JaS 10.4.7 boot with sata native mode disabled, hd and dvd into yellow ports

with 10.4.8 reseed set sata port 0-3 native mode to enable, use only the top two yellow ports, one for the HDD and the other for your DVD.

If you dowload Thedguy's patch and apply it to your 10.4.8 reseed .iso and reburn it you will be able to connect the dvd into the ide connector. Remember to put sata/ide device to enabled and its control mode to ide in the bios.

is there anyone who use a Terratec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS TV-Card on this mainboard?

i have installed eyeTV, but mainboard does not recognize this USB TV-Card..

for Using USB on this board, i had installed pion's patch 1.2..

but it does not work..

is it a USB problem?

it seems to me that your card is for use with windows only. Unless a hardware is supposed to work with macs they will not be supported, I think!

I think I got a method to fix the diskarb error!

My mobo is GA965P-S3 (most like DS3 except Yukon chip), and I put the SATA HDD to first ICH8 SATA port

If I set SATA0~3 native mode disable, I got "still waiting root device" at boot, else, set SATA0~3 native mode enable, OSX (Jas 10.4.8 w/ Semthex kernel) can boot, but got "diskarb error" every time!

So, let's resolve it:

1, edit /System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Find <string>0x28288086 0x28258086 0x28208086</string>

Change to <string>0x28208086</string>

2, update the kextcache

3, Set SATA0~3 native mode disable in CMOS

4, you got it! :tomato::P

BTW: 0x2820 is SATA0/1 and 0x2825 is SATA2/3

my is 965P-S3 too, but i cant boot the 10.4.8 reseed installation dvd even with sata native enabled (aways got "still wating for root device").. but with thedguy patch, i can install it by using ide conector

after install, the mac partition was made active and i got darwin boot loader (a good progress, the 10.4.7 install but darwin not appear, only the black screen with blinking cursor), and some time after, the system freezes.. tried -v and saw some usb errors first, and then some other messages:

is possible to try stiffy's Info.plist edit using the installation dvd console?

how can i use a text editor on console?

Diskarb errors are quite common. Ignore those. I also get the IOkit wait error, hasn't seemed to be an issue.

Try booting with "-v fsb=266 platform=X86PC -legacy" (no quotes)

Also try different variations of the above.

Change the "FSB=" to whatever your FSB is. If you don't know what it is, look in the bios, and look for "CPU Host frequency" and the number after that should be what you want.

I'm assuming your bios is similar to my DS3.

Run Xbench on your system, I think you may have just slowed down your Hard drives with that.

I'm using the Gigabyte DS3 and I patched my 10.4.8 from Demonoid and installed but when I reboot it won't boot into OS X. With the -v option I get an error:

PCI express protocol violation error

Unexpected IRQ status error

It's an "AppleYukon" error and when I disable my LAN in bios it stops giving the AppleYukon error.

Windows says I have the Marvell Yukon 8053 and other people with it seems to have no problem so I don't know what the issue is.

I still can't boot though, it seems to freeze after a line saying it is loading something to do with the login.

thanks for the tip

IONetworking.kext is bad on the 10.4.8 install. grab the one from 10.4.7 or install Pion's patch.

Stuff on fixing HD

Prepare for the "I'm a moron" reply....

I left in the wrong number (left in the 2828, and removed the 2820/2825)...

I think it'll work now.

I'm using the Gigabyte DS3 and I patched my 10.4.8 from Demonoid and installed but when I reboot it won't boot into OS X. With the -v option I get an error:

PCI express protocol violation error

Unexpected IRQ status error

I still can't boot though, it seems to freeze after a line saying it is loading something to do with the login.

same freeze here.. i cant fix it..

look my last post, i've writed the messages i got

if u found a solution, please pm me

When installing look at the descriptions, one of them allows you to install a 10.4.4 login window, might fix your problem.

Hello guys,

i`m very impressed about your work ... realy.

I read the whole Thread and others too.

I want also to build up a Hackintosh ......

Want to use this board cause the price and the overclocking.

I will use the reseed version 10.4.8 with the IDE Booting Patch of thedguy .. thanks for that.

But i have some small questions.

Must i use one complete HD for OS X or is there a way to make partions for XP/VISTA also.

If i can make partitions for both systems, what is the best way .....

It is better to buy a ATI card as a Geforce for this way using OSX. (i think ATI)

I want the full support of Quarz Extreme .......

Which way is the safest to use with whitch card.

Which Patch/Installer should i use, from your opinion.

When i install with the IDE Patch can the SATA HD be used to install OS X ?

Also after Installation from IDE DVD-ROM when i reboot ........

I mean DVD to IDE and HD to SATA .... ?

I read about the bios settings ........ !

But is that ok ?

Thanks for every answer to me, a small noob (-; (at the moment) from Germany

Greetings

Walter

For every link to patches, that i need, i will be happy ....

I am trying to install 10.4.8 with the reseed dvd patched with the JMB ide patch. My setup includes the ds3 board, a c2d 6300, and a ide hard drive in a usb 2.0 encloser which im using to install osx on. the install runs fine, but then freezes when it tries to restart the computer afterwards (the little status circle comes up on the screen and just spins continuously with no other computer activity). When i reboot, the apple logo comes up with the status spinner, and then a "stop sign" or prohibited symbol comes up and nothing happens. is there something im doing wrong? ive tried the semthex and mifki patches but i really dont have any idea which patched i need or dont need for my hardware. im going to boot it with "-v" and see what error im getting, but could anyone make any suggestions? what am i missing here?
