Well, I've followed the guide (but using a boot drive rather than USB stick).

However, after installing Lion and then rebooting (into the lion partition) I get a kernel panic: AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext.

Any ideas? I'm running a P8P67 Pro.

Well, I have speedstep enabled in my bios. And a quick search suggests this may be needed:

Will try it out....

So, this weekend I've worked on installing Lion on my machine, and now I have a semi-working setup:

I made the usb stick as in the manual, applied nawcom's MBR patch, and installed on a secondary partition on a 1 TB drive.

I booted this setup with the usb stick, installed Andy's package, and rebooted.

Andy's Chameleon for some reason is not working, i get a text that i need to put the bootable media or whatever. But if i use the stick to boot everything works, lan, audio, video.

I installed instead Chameleon RC5 1083 pkg (found on this forum), and with it I can boot directly from the bios, but i get no audio.

i tired few times:

- booting with usb stick, audio ok

- booting directly from hd, audio not detected

what is the problem? does DSDT have anything to do with this? do i need it? the boot plist files have anything to do with this?

also a small note, in the System Preferences->Network section, the lan is working under the Bluetooth PAN, is this normal?

You must use Nullcpupowermanagment in your Extra/Extensions folder.

I thought lion doesn't load any extensions from E/E anymore?

And also, wouldn't Andy's package set this up for me?

I figured that this is the problem but the question is why is this working for everybody else and not me ;-)

Anyway, if I upgrade a SL install (a clean one upgraded to 10.6.8) to Lion then everything works fine. I'd just prefer to do a clean install if possible...

...what is the problem? does DSDT have anything to do with this? do i need it? the boot plist files have anything to do with this?

If you can boot lion then try (backup your install first) installing the HDARollback from #####. That solved the audio problems for me. I also had no audio with Andy's v5 package until using #####.

I'll try this tonight.

I am confused because with andy's chameleon on the usb, i get the audio working, but that chameleon does not work with my dualboot setup, so i installed the Chameleon RC5 1083.pkg, and that does make my dualboot setup work but without audio.

Hello,

My P8P67 Le works fine now under Lion

I used #####, ##### Legacy, the retail DVD of SL. Update in 10.6.8 ( guidehelper), regaepackage and Xmove for Lion

BUT.....

I've got a problem:

When i installed OSX, i only connect 2 hds ( system ( hd1) + one for data ( hd2))

After i connected another hard drive ( old data of another Osx install)

They were no problem with them. ( four hard drive connected)

Today, i need to connect a other HD ( called hd3 . I disconnect this hard drive and remplace it with a hd4.)

And...... don't work.

My system can't boot. ... He failed when the bootloader begin a little wheel ( slash/antislash), just after le BootBios and before the menu of the bootloader.

Now system can boot ONly if i had 2 hard drive connected. Not more... and Only HD1 and/or Hd2, not HD1 and HD3/4. It's very strange.

My SATA cable are ok.

Is there a problem with Sata controller?

This is a Chameleon issue. I have the same issue with some RC5 build for an external HDD.

THank you for your reply.

I need to change my bootloader? Or there another solution? or ... not!

Copy Nullcpupowermanagment.kext in yourSystem/Library/Extensions and in Extra/Extensions update kext cache..then try to boot with -v -x flags.

FOR ANDY

I've used speedstepper for lion gm and i've patched AICPUPM but every time i start pc i have ACPI CPus not found.. C states not generated ..P states not generated.. and during boot i have

ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::pushCPU_CSTData - _CST evaluation failed

ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::registerLPCDriver - WARNING - LPC device initialization failed: C-state power management not initialized if I put your DSDT in E/E.

If i remove DSDT.aml i have only c state and p state not generated.

I have read that system need's SSDT.aml table..i've tried many ssdt for i7 2600k but i have the same error ACPI table not found..why?

I'm using your bootloader and i've used your guide for install usb Lion.

My mobo is p8p67 Pro and Processor is I7 2600k with Ati 5770 Gpu and 8gb of Ram.

My system is Osx Lion 10.7..i buy it on Appstore.

I have GenerateCstates and GeneratePstates Yes in com.apple.Boot.plist

Sorry for my english..

Thanks! ANDY

I switched from P5Kpro and Q9550s to P8Z68Vpro and i7 2600K with this guide. it is quite smooth.

For Ethernet and sound, I used ##### as other members suggested.

But ( and i don't know why), yesterday, i tried to hotplug my HD. ( when Osx run) . And Osx recognized them in Disk utility ( not finder) :) :) :) ( I tried many times before without succes).

I repared and now My computer can boot with all of my disk :)

Andy. You are the man! I wasn't going to bother with Lion until I saw a post from you. My SL install was completely painless, which I thought would be an unmatchable precedent.

Thanks for proving me wrong there. Lion is running perfectly on my P8P67 non pro, core i5, 16Gb, HD 6870, dual 27" monitor system.

I was banging my head on the desk due to slow boot up until I found UseKernelCache=Yes.

Without that it was taking me 3+ minutes to boot, with a Vertex 2 (not the fastest SSD, but not an HDD either.)

It seems like AntiPop is broken in Lion, it works until reboot.

I used nawcom's sleepenabler with an auto DSDT to get sleep working.

As I said earlier in the previous post, with Andy P8P67 Pro package I got no audio, but I fixed this with the ##### HDARollback, and now audio works fine, BUT only the rear ones. I have a front AC97 audio headphones + microphone connected, but they don't work, any way to make them work?

Does the DSDT have anything to do with this? I read that it might be the case.

I generated a DSDT for my pc from DSDT Patcher tool, but I didn't use it, instead I found that after installing Andy's package there is a DSDT.aml in the Extra folder, it seems that the package installs a DSDT by itself (or does it generate it on the fly??). But from what I read DSDT is very setup-related, and you can't use one for all, even with same bios, as the amount of memory and other hardware has a big impact.

Any tips?

The dsdt installed by the pro package includes stradivari1723's clever fixes for the JMB362 sata controller to force it to AHCI mode. If you decide to compile your own dsdt then have a read here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;hl=ahci+p8p67 so you know what to do regarding the sata fix.

If you have the kexts that you used for ethernet and sound and tell me which package you used initially I may be able to build a package for the P8Z68VPro when I have some spare time.

In the #####.pkg, "Realtel ALC8xx" and "AppleHDA Rollback", Network "hnak's AppleIntelE1000e Ethernet".

For DSDT.aml, it is ok for you already prepared for P8P67pro.

Weird - all of those kexts are already in the sabertooth package so you could probably have just used that.

For anybody else that has been facing the blinking underscore character at boot (after following all the steps, i.e. Lion installed) then try installing Chimera from tonymac. I was having the same issue that some others reported, namely that the machine would not boot without the use of a USB/CD. The reason is because I am dual booting windows and lion on a GPT (single) disk. I believe that windows is set as the active partition and therefore the Chamelion which Andy distributes does not get launched. However, this must've been fixed in a more recent chamelion (that Chimera is using?) such that the boot loader no longer requires an active partition. After this, everything worked for me.

Thanks Andy for again making such a good boot disk!

There must be more to it than that because my pc multiboots between lion, snow leopard, 2 windows 7 installations (one on hdd and one on an ssd), ubuntu and windows xp and I don't get that problem!

Could be... I just seem to remember reading that Chimera can boot from partitions that were not marked as active. As I said, it's a try-it-and-see fix (but backup, e.g. CCC first).

Am going to try a more recent build of Chameleon now that I've worked out where to get it from... maybe that will also do the trick. Odd that the version of Chameleon in your package wouldn't do the trick though. I didn't have this problem until I multi-booted BTW.

Is the TPU or EPU switch on the board OS independence, or does it need additional drivers? Has anyone tried it? Google didn't help me...

EDIT: Just found in a review: "but actually the TPU (and EPU) switches are there for those unsure of how to use the BIOS, or, for those who aren’t using a Windows OS. "

Love this board, I just wish a fix would come out for AC3 DD5.1 pass thru... This is my Theater Mac and the lack of 5.1 over optical sucks! Oddly enough I rolled it back to 10.6.7 and still only get stereo over the optical. I think this X86 is out to get me!
