Does your Extra and Extra/Extensions folder look like mine from my attachment with only one kext (fakesmc.kext), or are there some other KEXT or mkext files. If so, I suspect they need to be updated. Since I don't use them, I am not sure how to help you.

Best of luck!

Thanks trwoolley for your answer.

Now I erased my backup disk (where I was trying to test the OS update) and CCCloned my main disk into this partition.

So, now I can show you my folders in 10.6.2 stage.

I believe it looks equal than yours.

Also, I'm trying to do the OS upgrade just Delta, as Software Upgrade wants. Not as Combo.

In more than one hour it will finish to download.post-121828-1270059552_thumb.png

Hi,

I purchased a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R over the weekend and have tried both the Kakewalk usb and cdboot installations. In both cases installation completes just fine but there is no audio device selectable even though there is one listed in the apple system profiler.

So i have no audio and I also have orange hd icons. I chose the X58A-UD7 install option as that board appears to be almost identical in layout and hardware to my X58A-UD3R

The whole DSDT extracting and compiling thing is kind of beyond me. Is there a relatively simple method to get audio working on my board?

I see that Paul Dourado has the same board and reports audio working, not sure I understand how he accomplished that.

Temporary solution....

FOR Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR USERS:

:) ALC888 HD Audio fixed for Snow leopard 10.6.3

download AppleHDA.kext to : http://www.kexts.com/view/320-alc888_hd_audio.html

Install with Kext helper and reboot... :(

I am pretty sure that this is caused by having sleepenabler.kext

So to resolve your issue you would need to remove, disable or update the sleepenabler.kext.

I am aware of a new version of sleepenabler.kext that is 10.6.3 compatible - I would suggest a Google search.

Yes! Gael. Your were right!

I searched in my disk any sleepenabler.kext. No one. I was not using it.

I searched in Google and selected http://www.meklort.com/?p=167

From there I downloaded the sleepenabler.kext compatible with 10.6.3. Installed thanks Kext Helper.

Then, OS upgrade.

When it finished a window invited me to restart.

Not yet.

Run Kext Utility to repair permissions.

When done, yes, restart.

Almost perfect!

The only problem remaining is the lack of sound.

That is my battle now.

Ah! Another important thing! My both 23" monitor connected via HDMI cables to GeForce GTX 260 work perfectly.

I will continue checking the rest of the system but everything looks great.

Tomorrow I will fight with the lack of sound.

Thanks Gael and trwoolley.

So install the cd after ive installed using usb, but why doesnt the usb install installs a bootloader?

is that normal?

It should've installed a bootloader if you happened to have a working OSX environment and launched the Kakewalk app and installed the necessary files. If something happened like for instance, installing windows 7 (replaces the bootloader), then you would have to reinstall it. And that fixed my issues just fine. =)

EDIT! Nevermind... fixed it myself!!!

Kext Utility + AtherosFix.kext = working DWA-556.

Now i have a fully working HackPro! wooo!! thank you so much to everyone who posts here... it was remarkably easy!!! the hardest part was wiring the case to the motherboard! lols.

Hey everyone!

I have only one snag.... my wireless card.

Dlink DWA-556 Does not show up at all... tried it in a few slots nada... the green light on the back of it is blinking so i'm assuming its powered up. Anyone have this card working?!?!?

My system :

EX58-UD5

Intel 920

MSI N250GTS

SIIG firewire 800 card

WD 640gb Caviar black

Coolermaster 700w powersupply and 690II case

So I downloaded and installed the latest update, now I am getting a kernal panic related to SleepEnabler, now I have read it must be removed, but how do I remove it with out another working os on the same computer?

Still pretty new to macos

try booting into single user mode

ffffff

I have a 9500gt and it works great with photo shop. i havew not noticed any problems. Today i updated to 10.6.3 and it updated sucessfully without problems. Video, sound, ethernet, usb ect. still working without messing with anything.

Does your firewire port work good?

With holidays and all I'll have to wait until monday to get my parts.... grrrr

I appear to have a problem with display after updating to 10.6.3.

My Kakewalk Box is connected to a 42" Toshiba TV and after updating from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3 the displayed image on the screen is too big and the menu bar is not visible while part of the dock is also hidden. If I deselect overscan the image displayed becomes too small.

I have just re-installed on a fresh HD and installed Kakewalk, no other installation - then used Apple update to update to 10.6.3 - the issue is repeated. EDITED - Just done another clean install and the issue is repeatable.

My Display Card is a nVidia 9500GT 1gb.

I have done a search but can't locate any pointers on what the issue may be - any help gratefully accepted.

Edited to add: I have never had any other display connected, it has worked flawlessly with Kakewalk in the past.

Anyone got any ideas as to what I should do to get my display working properly? Has anyone else got a EP45-UD3LR and 9500GT connected via HDMI to a TV - if so did you experience this issue?

Yes, many are faced with this problem ...

Dude, you are no exception ... forward solution, but can be connected via D-Sub ...

Hey there.I hope somebody can help me. Ok i mad everthing like written in the Kakewalk Guide. Installed SL. But i cant boot from my HD. And when i try to select the bootdrive Bless tool is unable to set boot disk. What i have done wrong?

Thanks

I upgraded from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3.

Solved a "Version mis-match between Kernel and CPU PM" PK thanks a Gael's suggestion. I have everything OK. But ... no sound.

I downloaded AppleHDA_10.6.2.kext from kexts.com.

There I read "This is a patched version of AppleHDA.kext, taken from Mac OS X 10.6.2. When 10.6.3 is released you probably need this kext, because the 10.6.3 version has the device id's hardcoded".

Installed that AppleHDA_10.6.2.kext. Done permissions.

Reboot. But no sound yet.

As I'm on a EX58-UD5 that has an ALC889a sound chip I suppose it will not be applicable kexts for ALC888, right?

I can't find any other kexts for my sound chip and 10.6.3 compatible.

So, there is anybody that knows how to fix the lack of sound devices in System Extensions > Sound?

Simply, there is no options to output or input sound. No Internal Speakers, no headphones, nada.

Thanks in advance.

u need to use 10.6.1 kexts: NVDA_1061_kexts.tbz2

more about this read here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=196878

Using GA-EP45-UD3L rev1.1 along with latest Kakewalk CD installer and retail 10.6 DVD. Everything installed fine, even had sound right out of the box. I previously had the same board but rev1.0 which had to go back when it died after about a week, however that one did not have sound until after I ran the Kakewalk bootloader.

Updated to 10.6.2, sound worked fine. Updated to 10.6.3, sound icon was greyed out and no sound. Installed the previously mentioned AppleHDA kext dated March 27, 2010 via kext utility and sound was back.

So far everything is working fine with one small exception. I am using the onboard LAN and it does not operate at gig speed automatically, transfer rates are at 11.1 MB/s at best.

It also doesn't show the ethernet connection status in the advanced tab of network setting either. My MBP, MB and Mini all show full stats, ie. Speed just says autoselect instead of 1000baseT, duplex is empty instead of full duplex, flow control.

When I set them manually I can choose 1000baseT and full duplex, then the speeds jump up to 60-70 MB/s.

Would be nice if it worked automatically, but thought I would pass it along so that others can check theirs.

Hello today i installed Snow Leopard on G41M-ES2L with the Kakewalk cd for this board. When I did the first boot it went smooth. Everything worked sound, network, usb and even my video card(Nvidia 7300 GT). I then installed the Kakewalk bootloader pkg from the disk on to my hard drive. When I reboot It won't start up. I get the Light grey screen with the Apple Logo Then a dark Grey screen that tells me to hold the power button to restart(it also say it in many different lang.). I put in the Kakewalk cd and boot my harddrive with it and it boots up fine with everything working. I have no clue as to why it dose this. Can anybody help?

SPINNING CURSOR BEACH BALL ALERT

After 3 days of a smooth kakewalk installation, I started gettting these bloody spinning balls all too often. My hackmac stops freezes for 30+ seconds.

It all started tonight after I installed bowtie, and I also installed age of empires 3 with the expansions in the applications folder. Could it be related somehow?

Hi there,

I just managed to update my Hackintosh to 10.6.3 without deleting SleepEneabler.kext on forehand.

The result is that I can't boot OS X, just getting KernelPanic no matter what I try to do..

I have tried to boot with "-x", "-s" and even "-x32 -v -x -f" without success..

MB: Gigabyte EX58-UD5

CPU: Intel i7 920

Does anybody know what I need to do to fix it? Thanks in advance!

Boot into windows and delete the sleepenabler in Extensions. If you don't have windows I don't know the solution :/

im using an h50, i got my overclock stable about a week before going to osx in windows 7.

Wow, Awesome system man

I have ordered that H50 and am going to wait for it to arrive before I clock higher that 3.36Ghz. Reason being I am idling at around 70 degrees C at the moment.

Does that seem hot for 3.36Ghz? Or is it related to that power management thing?

System specs below;

Has anyone with the x58a-UD5 applied the 10.6.3 update?

Lastly, I see you are running an SSD. Would you say that it is worth the money? It is obviously a major contributor to your system performance and the time app's take to start up.. Thinking about getting one, but here in South Africa stuff like that is so expensive ;) maybe I will wait for the SATAIII SSD drives to come out

I have tried doing a clean install using another display and only connecting the Toshiba 42" after the 10.6.3 update but the end result is always the same.

I have also noticed that after the 10.6.3 update there is some issue with HDMI - when the computer is rebooting the screen displays a "textile like fine check pattern" and it is necessary to switch HDMI inputs and back again on the TV in order to restore picture.

I can only conclude that 10.6.3 has affected the HDMI communication in some way.

Have others experienced any issues with HDMI after this update?
