AvPyro
turn the card on in windows It always turned on in Windows. a good card for testing will be 4965. 3945 card's firmware is less stable I have Acer 8930 with 5100 card. Should I repeat steps which you wrote?
edusui
People, good news, mercurysquad has released a driver for 3945 that works on OS X leopard, i asked about similarities among 3945 and 5100 and this is the answer: yes from what I saw in the linux drivers, all intel wifi cards from 3945 up are similar and need small modifications and adjustments only. so if we are lucky , will be a 5100 kext soon

jalavoui
iwidarwin project since mercuryquad finally got it working and because i think he deserve to get some contribution for is driver i'll stop iwidarwin until he's happy with people donations. i do know how hard is to write a driver and you should all understand that instead of complaining and demanding WPA stuff, etc you should contribute to is project. for those who don't agree you can always get iwidarwin source code from svn tree and finish the code to make the driver work. you can do this for free if you have the knowledge and want a free driver. i'll not help on this because i think mercurysquad work's should be in a near future in iwidarwin svn tree further development should be done with is new code when time is right in my opinion 4965 code is already working 5000, 6000 and 1000 cards will depend on firmware stability (as shown by intel linux sources) this thread is open for driver development discussions only

AvPyro
AvPyro - you can also test this with 5100. any intel card is good for testing at this stage - KP ) toke kext from first post and retrieve next What does it mean? previously download kext from iwidarwin both version didn't contain Network selector !? dawntodon
I seem to get a kernel panic seconds after installing the latest (as of 11/22/09) 2100 kext using the pkg. The whole computer freezes up even before I get a chance to reach for "restart." I do resolve these panics by removing the kext while booted into single user mode. I don't know how to record the pertinent logs for development purposes. am I doing something completely off here? I figure I am since iwi2100 is described in this thread as fully working. I'm running the latest SVN version on 10.5.6, since the stable version seems to be only for 10.4.x. trabbikevin
Sorry for asking but.. Is there anything new about the Intel 5100 AGN ? If not, what should I get instead of it ? What is recognized as Airport and will work without work with kexts etc. ? I really think it's weird that most of the current net and notebooks don't have a OSX-compatible wifi card.. I got my old laptop with a 2200 bg.. but it doesn't fit in my new laptop with the mini wifi card.
paintballerwhiz
Hi all But I was wondering if it would be possible to patch the ralink usb wireless utility to work with the intel card. I bought a belkin card because the intel 5100 on my computer doesn't work yet, and the belkin card shows up (like you said the intel card was) as ethernet. The ralink app pops up every time the card gets plugged in. The app acts like the airport utility, and it lets you choose between wireless networks the card picks up. So the card connects to the network, and the computer is fooled into thinking that you have an ethernet cable plugged in. This isn't meant as a permanent fix, just to get pressure off the project so it can be done perfectly and not rushed.
