Yipwafe - thanks a million man.

I'm searching already for days these threads about the SigmaTel 9223,

but no way no way to get sound.

The motherboard is an Intel D945GPM,

it has a Sigmatel STA9223D.

According to PCISniffer,

vendor = 8086h

deviceID = 27D8h

I replaced the AppleHDA.kext with your version,

cleared kextcache,

rebuild it,

restored permissions with Disk Utility,

rebooted -

et voila - sound now.

It comes from the blue jack instead of the green,

but who cares for that.

Again -

thank you very very much.

I have the same motherboard. Intel D945GPM. I tried the posted fix and got some good news and some Bad news?

First I am running 10.4.6, and followed the same steps as you have posted. But I only get digial Audio out as the only output source? Can you post your AppleHDA.kext here please. BTW what is your xbench mark results ...I have the P4 Socket 775 630 3.0 gig cpu and xbench read 67.59 this morning.

Bad news is it still not workiing here!

hi, i tried the kext out. i cant seem to get sound out of any port, but when i connect to one port, the digital optical out comes on (i can see the red light), and the Sound thing in System Preferences says 'Digital Out'. Other ports result in 'Built-in Speaker' or something else (cant remember right now).

any ideas? or do i need to get a digital output device?! :P

I see the exactly the same thing with digital audio light. I am going to buy a fiber optical cable this afternoon and test output on my stereo audio amp later tonight? But mean while have you had anymore sucuss getting audio speakers up in sound output panel?

Ok, I *FINALLY* got audio working on my D945GTPLR (Media Series) 9223.

I used the old kext but with the rev2 plist. Now get proper stereo sound from the blue (line-in) connector, full volume ctrl etc.

Rockin!

Can you post your fix here please?

Just your Audiohd.kext files!

TIA.

Hi,

I have just started to get a machine together with a d945gpm motherboard and a 930d CPU. I had no sound, so, I installed the rev.1 HDA kext for SIG9223, and at least I do have output thru the blue jack like others. I like others would like to figure out getting sound from the proper jack as well as spdif optical working with Dolby digital 5.1. I would be happy to do any testing I can, and will look at what I can do to help figure it out. Anything that would help see what has been worked on already would be helpful.

Thanks for all the work on this so far,

v

:gun:

well, I think that this will be very nice... I search for this solution for over a month now, I even buy a usb soundcard, but the sound in not so nice... A nice 5.1 sigmatel 9220/92** will be perfect, or a sound from the corect jack..

Intel BOX/BLKD975XBXLKR Motherboard:

Using the first revision kext in this thread I was able to add support for the Sigmatel 9221 (83847683) by hexediting & changing the iMac's 9220 (83847682) and modifying the plist.

From what I understand about the CodecID's, with some futher plist work people should be able to map to their appropriate inputs/outputs successfully. I also think you can adjust the amplifier for each channel. As latexgurl mentioned in her reply the volume at maximum was noticably quiet. I'm not sure if that can be changed in the Info.plist (base64 junk) - but I'm pretty confident it can in DefaultAudioLevels.plist under the Resources folder.

In testing what 3.5mm jack had the output I somehow disabled output by plugging in to another jack, requiring a reboot to reset the output state. Keep your eye out for a disabled Master Volume slider. When you first boot up it will be enabled.

What modifications to the base kext were done besides hex editing the vendor/device id's, if any? And what exact build is it from? I know the version is 1.1.10, but that version was identical (although differently built) between 10.4.3 8F1111 and the final Macintel shipping 10.4.4 (don't know the build number off-hand)...

Modifying future kext's didn't appear to work due to the reliance on layout-id (an EFI NVRAM variable from what I remember...). If the layoutID is indeed a pointer to the proper codec configuration in the plist I would imagine it could be possible to hexedit a permanent layoutID number in the binary of current and future kext's, merely requiring proper plist work for full functionality...

Regardless, great work to everyone involved!

Can you post the kext here please

or pm it to me

Work audio in wrong jack port (blue).

How to make change to green jack????

I have a 945GTPL with Sigmatel 9220.

;)

Dude, I asked this question months ago and still no answers...

Better get a C-Media USB dongle sound card, they work even better than your integrated sound chipset.

I got one on ebay almost for nothing....

Sadiekiller,

I have a D945PWM board which I believe has the identical sound chib as your. Would you be so kind as to attach a zipped up copy of your hacked kext and send it up here?

I would be ever so appreciative.

hehe i have 5.1 on my sigmatel but not from the computer i get those stereo jack to rca and ran it to my amplifier for 5.1 surround sound hehe ... that the only way we could have it right now as for my comp 5.1 speakers i just dont bother for now till we could help solve this problems with sig sound

hey, i have the sigmatel 9223 like some of you guys. just wanted to share a way around the messed up jack layout. If you install the xp driver from bootcamp it changes the input and output to the same as OS X so it's messed up but messed up in the same way. I hope this makes sense. Input and output all work fine but are not in the right place.
