AnaktuvGod
hi all. just converted to iatkos v7 from ideneb. ?, how can i get it to read the correct ram. i swore i had ddr3 and its tellin me ddr2. is this because of smbios efi air? also question to all. i have mac on a desktop i installed and when i scroll the mouse over the dock on magnification it runs really really smooth like water. GTX260. But on this P-7805u, doesnt matter ideneb, iatkos, kalyway, when i used them, the dock doesnt look all to hot when i scroll through it "not watery like it should be" is it just me or does all you guys dock do the same $#!7? also is it that the kexts available for the 9800m gts is just not great. i used the the same nvinstaller on my desktop with 9300 and it runs like water. confused Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147377-help-installing-osx86-on-a-gateway-p-7805u/page/7/#findComment-1238331 Share on other sites
gidge
hi all, is anyone else getting choppy video playback? i have QE and CI but have really poor video playback. hd videos played back on vlc player is choppy as well. i've installed atkos v7 on a FX 7811 but seem to be getting pretty high system cpu load (around 35% idle) as well. perhaps i should try xxx... TheOriginalPol
idk, I'd say my dock is pretty damn watery. check if QE is enabled in your system profiler. oh and maybe i'm just picky, but has anyone else noticed they're not getting as many colors as there probably should be? AnaktuvGod
It shows that it is enabled. which version do you have original, p-7811 or 7805u and also do you have the 1920 x 1200 display or the other one. could be the display i got is to big and it dont get watery cause of that. i also swithced to snow leopard universal distro. everything but sound and internet works. still no watery dock Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147377-help-installing-osx86-on-a-gateway-p-7805u/page/7/#findComment-1251239 Share on other sites

But the dock worked fine either way, I don't think that should make a difference. Is it just your dock that is jumpy? Or are none of the graphics at all on the system very smooth (aka try running the flurry screensaver or going into FrontRow or something)? Oooo and how is Snow Leopard working out for ya?? AnaktuvGod
Its working out alright. I'm a little upset tho because i had a wireless usb stick drive that only works for 10.4 and 10.5. used iatkos v7 to fix video. no sound. im sure it would be coming soon tho. everything else looks cool tho on my laptop, the swivel when you minimize and my screensavers is good. my dock just dont move like my hackintosh desktop (asus p5q-c w/e8400 core 2). once i get sound and internet, im soley on snow leopard. you should make that jump too so you can be set for 10.6.1, 10.6.2, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147377-help-installing-osx86-on-a-gateway-p-7805u/page/7/#findComment-1251629 Share on other sites
TheOriginalPol
To be honest, I have no idea how. Have ppl already put out install dvds or something? bc I can't seem to find a single one... Plus I worked hard to get my USB Wifi (WUSB54GC) working as well, and I don't want to lose that functionality quite yet... TheOriginalPol
Cool, thanks man... I'll give it a go. DJKneo
Im new to all this X86 stuff, I have the same laptop, P-7805u with the 1920x1200 display. I successfully installed OS X using the iATKOS v7 disc. Just wondering if anyone as been able to upgrade to 10.6 using an actual retail upgrade disc. I get stuck to where it has to reset to finish installing. the computer will restart, but when it boots back up its like it wasn't installing at all, I want to say its the boot loader but I don't know for sure. Another way I wanted to try was to boot the disc from the Chameleon boot loader, but I don't know how to boot from the dvd instead of the hd. TheOriginalPol
To boot from dvd, go to your BIOS settings. Also there's probably some key you can press when you first boot up, I think it's F10 on our machines, to get the boot menu up, where you can choose temporarily. DJKneo
Oh, I know that, but if you do that the 10.6 disc won't boot anything. It has to be after the Chameleon bootloader is running, or some other bootloader. I tried the cd boot method off www.teknojunkie.com but I get an error saying it cannot load the "com.apple.driver .AppleHDACController - not found and kextd not available" To boot from dvd, go to your BIOS settings. shanmoon
I've got my Gateway p-7805u running on 10.5.6.I have video and audio support. I got network suport by buying an airport extreme card off of ebay. I am dual booting to 64-bit vista, and it recognized the card. I get N out of OSX and Vista. FYI I was able to do an automatic update to 10.5.8 without any trouble, and no driver issues. bimochi
Anyway like I said I am up and running pretty well. I was able to install the 9000 series video kexts following the instructions located here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=132089 and updated the GFX strings using these instructions http://aquamac.proboards106.com/index.cgi?...&thread=509 My card is correctly recognized as a 9800m GTS with 1GB video memory. The default resolution was automatically updated to 1920 x 1200 but QE/CI are not working. I have not done any investigation on this yet so I will keep you updated. Can you Please Hook me up with the GFX item's you used cause i have the same card and every time i go threw making my own GFX Strings i do not succeed // It would be easier for me to get me yours... maybe you could put it in a kext .... no bread
is anyone else having problems with the built in keyboard? namely with the windows button not functioning correctly as the apple button? When I try windows key-a, it will not select all, but instead bring up an accented "a". Really don't want to fork out for a macbook pro! TheOriginalPol
Wow!! So, a little update on a personal note: After screwing up my system with the 10.5.8 update (which did NOT work for me for some reason) I completely reinstalled my system using iAtkos v7... damn, what a difference. Everything works SO much better. All my problems that I was having on the last install are now gone, even that weird recording problem I was having. Everything works, including VoodooHDA, Time Machine, Shutdown, and even VoodooPS2Controller which would not work before (which I highly recommend btw, it is far superior to the FFScroll method if you want touchpad scrolling etc). The only thing that wouldn't work for me at first was Sleep -- but I downloaded an OpenHaltRestart kext from 10.5.6 someone posted, and it solved that (and sped up boot time significantly). Also, I chose the Voodoo kernel. For what it's worth. ANywayssss, I highly recommend to anyone who is still running ver. 5 or 6 to reinstall... Just backup everything with time machine like I did, and then when you boot the new installation you can restore everything w/ migration assistant to just the way it was before when you left it. (except it crashes on me whenever I deselect "Applications" or "Files and Settings". anybody else ever have that?) Haven't tried updating to 10.5.8 yet... kinda scared to in fact, dunno if I will... Thanks for the tip lol. I did own a macbook pro, but it got stolen and I couldn't afford a new one. Then I discovered the wonderful world of osx86. Joy! Yeah I think I will remap using doublecommand. Got logic 9 on the way... that will be the ultimate test. Now to wait for instructions from people who have got 10.6 working on this. anyone?? BUS_DR1V3R
Hello everyone. I have installed iPC 10.5.6 final on my 7805u and it is running stable on vanilla kernel. I read earlier in the thread about taking out one of the ram sticks, and I had to do that to get iPC to boot(then replaced ram after ). After the boot I just installed the following drivers and fixes from the customize menu: Video Drivers : NVdarwin 1024MB Audio Drivers : Azalia Audio Power Management : AppleACPIBatteryManager and Clamshell Display Support Fixes and Patches : CPUS=1 One Core Fix and UUID Error Fix PS/2 Device Support : PS/2 Keyboard Fix and PS/2 Mouse Fix AppleSMBIOS Patch : AppleSMBIOS-27 Rev3 DDR3 1333MHz Applications : All After installing make sure to -f on the first boot. For the video card I just followd the directions in post #97 provided by d23. I replaced my 1440x900 screen with a 1920x1200 and I have full resolution and Quartz and QE enabled. Hope this helps someone. Now just waiting on a solution for the wifi or ethernet. TheOriginalPol
I replaced my 1440x900 screen with a 1920x1200... !!! Really?? I've been wanting to do that for the longest time!
