I`ve been trying to install Mac os x 10.5.6 for 5days now.

My problem is that i cant get either iDeneb or boot loader 123 to actually Boot from cd/dvd.

When i input a windows os dvd it will boot.

Ive burned the Iso files correctly.

Ive bought the original Retail Mac os.

Ive used every bios input right for my Asus P6T Deluxe v1 motherboard.

Im running Windows 7.

Does anyone have any tips?

Asus p6t deluxe v.1

i7 920

6gb ddr3 ram

Asus 285gtx

I have plugged in 1hhd sata and 1 dvd writer sata.

on my hhd i have 3 partitions, 1st Windows 7, 2nd empty and 3rd data.

I don't know if you are burning the ISO correctly because it should boot. You are selecting the optical drive as the first boot device, right? What happens when it tries to boot from the optical drive?

Secondly, I'm not so sure trying to put OSX on one drive that already has windows installed is a way to save yourself frustration. I have installed with this guide 6 times, 4 were successes. In every success I used a single drive with nothing on it (or a previous install that I formatted away). The failures were all "waiting on root device" failures. The failures were my 1st and 3rd attempts.

As has been covered here it is also suggested that the HDD go on SATA header 1 and the optical on header 2.

I had a similar problem, i found that i burnt the cd too fast. I slowed mine down to 2x and it worked..

Hi Guys! Glad I found this . . I already had a P6T Deluxe V2. I wanted a Hackintosh, and I was about to go buy the motherboard & CPU for the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard until I discovered it could be done with this (betttter) board and i7 CPU.

I have been geeking on PC's since 1983 . . and it took me 15 hours to get mine going. To save you time, I will tell you how to get it done fast - how I ended up making it work.

Set the BIOS like the beginning of this guide.

Prepare the Thumb Drive with the Snow Leopard restore.

Get this kids hack installer patcher and apply it to the THUMB drive, and reboot from it. myHack Installer

Change your BIOS to boot off the hard drive after the install, and start the myHack Patcher again, this time applying it to the HARD DRIVE (*not thumb*)

Now you should have a P6T Deluxe hackintosh with a lot of stuff working. Now you can go in the BIOS and enable all the cores and Hyperthreading etc.

Then if you have Dads credit card or uTorrent and a newshost service, you can get Parallels Desktop 4.0, Windows 7 RTM, Adobe CS4, and lots of other tricks and have a hackintosh snow leopard running Win7 Ultimate in coherence! (for educational purposes)

Oh yeah . . getting a few hardware items to run took some work . .read the beginning of this guide about the networking . . it is possible to do it after the fact, which you will have to do if you take my shortcut methond. Also reccomend finding and using the kext tool . . i got the LAN working by copying out the main LAN kext in the instructions and pasting it to the desktop. Then I edited it & it let me save it, then I dragged the saved modded kext to kext tool which checked it, set permissions, and applied it back over the system kext which I could not mod on the fly.

Thank you to all the people that provided help in this post. I finally have retail!!!!

MB = Regular Asus P6T, with 3 sli slots. NOT DELUXE!

My notes:

Used this great guide. used the EFI Pack, which I reposted a few posts up.

MY MB actually has ALC1200 chip so i used this great thread:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1129229

Had to use NVdarwin kext since the install didn't read the EFI strings (Probably did something wrong).

What was killing me is the fact that I initially used a eVGA GeForce 9400 GT 1GB and it wasn't reading the EFI strings, NVDarwin 1024MB wasn't reading it either. Spent contless hours, so I pulled my BFG GeForce 9600 GT OC and used NVDarwin 512MB and bam, worked great!

Much thanx to IMrecorders on youtube for this video:

Sometimes people need to see it in action to fully understand!

Hope this helps!

Hi,

Hope someone can help, my pc is getting stuck at the disk partition stage of the install.

I can't erase or create a partition without it hanging.

I have removed all partitions, created a GFT partition in win7, let the installed change from ntfs

All options hang the machine with just the progress bar moving.

Using a Seagate 500gb and a Pioneer 216 DVD, got past the waiting for boot device issue by having dvd drive on sata1 and the hdd on sata2

I used Smegoid's added little guide a few pages back and had a lot of success. Used the GFX Strings tutorial linked to by Smegoid to get my GFX card going and now i've got a fully working and very slick vanilla install of Leopard 10.5.7!

when I did a software update though, apple updater asked me if i wanted to upgrade to 10.5.8 and I said yes.... I checked a forum before I did and they just said it should work fine because I have a vanilla install

But now it won't boot! Has anyone here upgraded to 10.5.8 and how did they do it?

thanks....

UPDATE

OK, so working fully through the guide, this time I upgraded to 10.5.8 right after upgrading to 10.5.7. This worked nicely.

However when I work through Aquamac's GFX Strings guide to get my GTX 260 working, I find after a reboot I get to chameleon fine but then chameleon just tells me to restart. Is there a way to get the graphics drivers to work in 10.5.8?

What about the Boot-132 v3 file - those Badango links are a nightmare! Any chance of uploading that somewhere?

well, not quite feeling your pain on that one since all i did was go to badongo, download the file and upload it to rapidshare but hell, maybe your fingers are broken and you can't type...

here's the link:

Thanks for that. For some reason I just can't get any files from Badongo. It just keeps telling me that I've exceeded my limit as I've already downloaded 700Mb today! Maybe I'm missing something obvious.

I went through the install process *again* and i've identified that this happens when i follow the gfx strings tutorial, even without upgrading to 10.5.8.

I did however get this to work once before. Recently I've neglected making duplicates of the com.apple.Boot.plist in the legit location and just been changing the one in the /Extra/ folder.

Is this my problem? Do I need to make changes to both the /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist and the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist in order to get my graphics card to work?

sigh, finally got it working. Smegoid's guide FTW!

problem wasn't anything to do with kexts or plists, it was that the CMOS was storing something that kept failling my installs.

If you're having trouble installing when its worked perfectly before in the past, try clearing your CMOS, resetting the BIOS to default and starting the guide again from the begining.

my specs:

asus p6t deluxe v2

core i7 920

geforce gtx 260

3x2gb patriot 1333 cl7 ram

if you've got something similar to that follow smegoids guide it works. for gfx 260 follow the aquamac tutorial smegoid links to and use the gfx string here:

http://rapidshare.de/files/48545296/GFXstrings.zip.html

i've so far only got 10.5.7 working, wireless works (asus wl-138-g v2) -- sort of, still a bit to do there -- and sound is fixed by smegoid's guide too. have yet to fix time machine.

thanks smegoid!

UPDATE - have fixed time machine. was getting an annoying "can't find network interface" error. Adding an ethernet EFI string into com.apple.Boot.plist was the answer:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t114349.html

if you're already using device-properties to get our GTX 260 working you can just combine the two. That guide above outlines how.

Now to get wireless properly working and to see about upgrading to 10.5.8!

  • 2 weeks later...
when I start up the bootloader, put in the disc, etc., then it freezes on the Apple logo., I left it for 40 minutes and nothing happens.

does anyone know how to fix this?

I had this issue way back as well. Disable eveything in the CPU menu in the BIOS and retry. Post your results.

I tried this, now it just reboots

also if it makes any difference, it only gets to the apple logo if all bios settings are at default (excluding clock speeds), otherwise it just reboots.

also iPC 10.5.6 doesn't seem to work either, I've created two disks and neither of them work, however I'm guessing this might be more of a burning software issue or an issue with the DVD rewriter.

I have 3 harddrives and 2 dvd-rom drives. I have burned a copy of mac os x 10.5.6 install dvd. I type rd(0,1)/mach_kernel.voodoo busratio=24 -v -f rd=disk3s2 I get "still waiting for root device". could you please tell me what to write in rd=diskXsY. How do I determine X and Y for my drive and for my copy?

This guide is useless unless it also works on computers with more than one hard-drive and dvd-rom drive and also if there is no way to determine Y for any retail dvd regardless whether it is a copy or an original.
