Not bad for an outdated Pentium 4 I think.

 

It's running Kalyway 10.5.2 fully updated to 10.5.4.

 

Putting my specs here in case money falls from the sky so I can upgrade my hardware and change my signature..

 

Pentium 4 model 651 3.40GHz, HT, EMT64, SSE3 - StageXNU Kernel 9.4.0

Geforce 7600 GT AGP - seen as PCI, this surely drags the graphics scores down

Asus P5P800-SE which has the 865PE chipset and ICH5

That's just about 7 points more than before.

CPU score is a lot higher this time for some reason and some of the other stuff scored lower.

 

EDIT - 25th November 2008. I've upgraded my hardware but can't afford a new CPU yet.

 

I got an ASUS P5Q-E motherboard, 2GB DDR2 RAM running at 800MHz for now, a nice new Geforce 9800 GTX+ card with 512MB RAM from Leadtek. The same P4 Cedar Mill 3.40 GHz CPU and harddrive as before. It's actually the same 10.5.5 install running on the new mobo.

I had some difficulties in the beginning, mainly with finding the right combination of ACPI and Power Management extensions, but everything (except the secondary Marvell SATA controller but I don't need it) is working fine now. I'm using the latest Nvidia graphics drivers (Thanks to AquaMac and the NVDarwin author) and the latest 9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel beta 2c. Also got a modified version of the latest BIOS for the P5Q-E.

Score: 92.45 - and that's with SuperHai's speedstep kext running. It should score a little higher completely unthrottled. I think that explains the 20+ CPU points in difference from the former benchmark, don't think I was running any speedstep extension at the time.

Obviously, graphics scores have gone through the roof. And I get to play Tomb Raider Anniversary at native res with 4xAA :-)

I'm surprised going from ICH5 to ICH10 doesn't yield better HD scores. I guess the drive must be at its limit and the controller doesn't matter.

It's noticeably faster under Windows XP though. Maybe this will change once OSX has (if ever) native support for ICH10.

 

I still think that it's doing very well for a P4 system. Actually it's probably as good as it can get now, with a CPU like this.

I'll post new scores when I can get my hands on a C2D. I'd like to get an 8600..if I can afford it.

I take that back. Just scored 104.36 on the same system, updated to 10.5.6. Didn't expect to make it to above 100 on this hardware.

Updated NVDarwin, and fixed the various new 10.5.6 kexts to work with my P5Q-E motherboard. now using DSDT.AML, disabler kext and the 1.0 final release of the Voodoo kernel. No changes in hardware.

 

This time around I'm not using any speedstepping extension - with Superhai's it stays at 3.4 GHz, and the XNU one causes a kernel panic. Which is why the CPU score is up by an impressive 20 points, and the user interface test by 58 points!

How reliable are the results of xbench? I have a Q6700 and I have JAS 10.5.4 installed. However I have to boot with cpus=1 because I have a p45 mobo and I don't have a modified bios.

 

If I do the cputest, I have a:

It could be possible that OS X only sees one cpu but that it in fact uses all the cores for this bench.
