The install seems to go OK but when it reboots and begins to load OSX an error appears saying I need to restart my computer. any ideas? I managed to get my installation working. After the install had completed and restarted, I used the cpus=1 command at the boot menu and it loaded into OSX. I ran through the configuration wizard and then rebooted again, this time without the cpu command and it's booted perfectly since! Well almost anyway. the only thing is not working is the keyboard and trackpad. If anyone knows how to get this work, please help. I was stuck on the grey screen so many times. i didnt know what was the course of it, why it didnt continue after the rebooting after the installation. I tried all the combo possible on the customization. Then i tried not checking the bootloader, and it WORKED !!! Everything went fine except that it doesnt recognize my ethernet cable and wifi is not working at all!!! I selected RealtekR1000 from the Customize menu... thorazine74 Posted December 24, 2008 Share Posted December 24, 2008 thanks for the feedback. that initialize is normal but the period should be longer than 5 min, about 1 hour on my rigs. I am also using pci via firewire but I only have audio firewire device and working without problems.can you send me the jmicron kext you are using? Yes the initialize period is about that long for me too, is that normal? what would happen if that initialize happens when I'm burning a disc in the recorder? The Jmicron kext its this one, it works for me but I have very slow disc reading speeds, about 2 Mb/s. not sure whats causing that. uphuck Posted December 25, 2008 Share Posted December 25, 2008 thorazine74initialize should not happen while burning smth. thanks for the kext but i dunno about speed, at least it is recognized mine did not work so. try playing with bios, maybe dma settings.. french squaredhow is your 8gb system running? is there any problem? as I see many people got it working by a few trials, its nice, keep on googlin' and tryin' and me keeps on adding new stuff to 5.1 dvd.. I was just trying to install the iatkos 10.5.5 and after the installation is completed i press restart... i can see that the efi boots, but the computer restarts after 1-2 seconds without loading leopard! Any idea why? I carefully read through all the posts but nothing! I had iatkos 10.5.2 intalled working great and on triple boot! Now i;ve ruined all three! Please HELP! Sebastian Rooks Posted December 26, 2008 Share Posted December 26, 2008 I had another problem that said com.apple.slist or something like that, i found solution for that, i had two dvd-rom's, i was booting from 2nd drive (slave). Booting from master solved problem. Now i'm always stuck at first apple grey screen or when i use -v (verbose) switch, it always says "Still waitin for root device". Googled and searched every where but there is no proper answer. What everyone says that hardware (in this case may be hard drive) is not compatible. What possible solution is there for this problem. I've two sata hard drives, one is seagate and other one is maxtor, both are 500GB. Two pata dvd-rom's one is hp dvd writer (master) and 2nd is asus 16x dvd-rom. What settings did you use? I see varying options in this thread for that board for the SATA. Some choose Intel AHCI SATA and other just Intel SATA. Also are you using EFI strings for video? I could I have gotten 10.5.6 update all the devices working I had read that my ps/2 mouse and keyboard sometimes didnt work, but everything went well! But I'm getting terrible Window tearing whenever I drag a Window. Is this normal? I didn't choose the 100+ MB Graphic Update option from the DVD, I just choose the EFI String with the right Graphic Card NVidia 8800 GTS 640MB. Will the 100+ MB Graphic Update fix this problem? Also, why is the menubar become gray? It's not transparent anymore. Here what I'm using ABIT IP35 Pro Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 @2.4GHz Install with PC EFI_9 Apple Decrypt SMBIOS_EFI Disabler.kext OHR EFI_String (NVidia 8800 GTS 640MB) Intel Sata Any help is appreciated. Yukimo Posted December 28, 2008 Share Posted December 28, 2008 Ok I try do another Re-Install with the Graphic Update and now the problem is gone. I'm really happy to see everything is working, but there is still the Menubar problem! Whenever I boot into MacOS X I get a Solid Gray instead of the Transparent Menubar. But if I open a program or go to System Preferences it turn back to Transparent again. It's a small issue, but it's kinda annoying because I like Transparent Menubar better. As for the Waiting for root devices. I alway get this problem until I switch to a Sata DVD-ROM. Something to do with JMircron not being recognize. Only way to get rid of this is to switch to a Sata DVD-ROM, go to your BIO turn ACHI on in On Board Interface, switch to IDE in SATA Interface. When installing make sure to check the following. - Intel SATA - JMicron I use Intel ACHI and my Computer would not Boot into MacOS X, it just freeze. Does anyone know if I miss out anything by using Intel SATA instead of ACHI?
