system reboots when i see the apple screen after the boot menu.

i ll try to install 10.5.5 via asu (now im having 10.5.4) and see whats going on:D

cpu : amd sse2

Tried with 10.5.5 and i got the same reboot. My install was from leo4allv4.1 (efi install). In both situations i had system.kext from 10.5.5. Sorry for not posting a picture with the KP but im looking for a camera :unsure:..

Hey guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for your great work. RC works fine here, no slowdowns and very fast, although I have not checked if sleep works (it has never worked with any kernel; system goes to sleep fine but then when waken up the display stays black). 64bit does run fine too, but for some reason when I try to play Chess (after moving a piece) it quits unexpectedly. Don't know what's causing the problem though.

Anyway, here are the Geekbench total scores:

32bit = 2558

64bit = 2988

Good news here

Updated to 10.5.5 using Zeypyroth ASU... my system booted but had no keyboard and many apps crashed

Just reinstalled a fresh 10.5.2. Running voodoo 9.5RC like a charm (i.e safari doesn't crash anymore)

Now updating to 10.5.5, hope i won't lose my keyboard this time :wacko:

nb: slower boot time with RC

TSC: Verification of clock speed FAILED! Fallback correction was performed. Please update bootloader.

Did anyone get this error too? What is possible solution here? Chameleon is still on 1.0.11 and I am using that version.

Someone also blogged about Voodoo RC here: http://www.feelingentity.com/2008/11/28/vo...ease-candidate/

Notice the bold part. The kernel can automatically detect and correct for these problems so it's not a big issue, don't worry about it. The message was put as just a notification that auto-correction was performed.

Apart from those errors everything seems to be working as well as beta2c which I've been running since it was released.

In System Profiler, my Pentium 4 651 is recognized as 'Core Solo'. This is new.

Think this was done on purpose :D

Correct. Some software refuses to work if the 'platform type' is identified as "unknown". For this particular place in the kernel, it is only possible to choose from the set of processors Apple supports. So we had to identify AMD processors as either core solo or core duo (multi core is reported as Core Duo). Same with Pentium 4 or some Celerons - they are identified as Core Solo. It's mostly cosmetic doesn't affect much except, e.g. Silverlight installer and similar apps.

Thanks for the info. My crystal ball says people will ask about this a lot. :blowup:

Noted. Documentation for final release will announce it clearly.

I just find it funny that AMD users know full well that we are emulating the hell outta their processors .. 64bit sysenter is emulated, platform type is emulated, cpuid is emulated .. Yet "About this Mac" text display is somehow more important. :)

It's only natural for people to gravitate toward what's immediately visible.

Most of your users, myself included, have close to no idea what's going on under the hood and some will not pick up on any of it no matter how many times you write it down for all to see. "cpuid" and "sysenter" might as well be words in some alien, undecipherable language!

The 10.5.2 to 10.5.5 SW update did not work on P4—there was a KP as the SW updater got started—going to back to 10.5.2 with 10.5.5 System kext, voodoo rc, etc.

Thanks howarchaic, I will give it a try on a P4 now running voodoo rc on 10.5.2 with the 10.5.5 System.kext and SMSEFI kext.

You updated from software update?  There's your problem.

Follow netkas' instructions to upgrade... this process worked fine with my P4 530 box from 10.5.2 => 10.5.5.

http://netkas.org/?p=50

Off to test RC on said P4.

BUT HOWARCHAIC said:

get the 10.5.5 system.kext, install it, get voodoo rc, reboot and run with voodoo, run software update, use efistrings if necessary to get gfx back.

Moot point now because the board CMOS is giving fatal error message.

Yeah, what a polesmoker, huh?

Go change your CMOS battery.

even the AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement.kext issue?

There are a few kexts that disables this kext if it gives your system trouble.  Not included here, but easily found.  Disabler and Null CPUPM.
