you must be aware that this update doesn't include the latest opengl.framework (not needed it seems for old cards like 8800 GT though) and doesn't contain atindrv binaries, so radeon 4000 users can't try it... So yeah, it would be better to have the kexts from these macs, specially atindrv+atirndrv for the ati guys.

You can boot in Single User mode and edit the Injector's Info.plist just before everything goes slow.

Why do you complicate things, you can download the MacBook Software Update, ahhh you dont read.

So is that why when I tried them last night in my desktop with my 8800GTS I had small horizontal lines (artifacts of some kind) all over the screen? I have yet to get QE/CI with my setup, but at least these kexts aren't causing kernel panics like others have.

Could the opengl.framework from the new MBP's help? Although you mentioned the 8800GT as an "old" card, my 8800GTS uses the G92 chipset not the G80; so I'm not sure if it would be considered "old".

8800 GTS G92 works since 10.5.2. It still work with these kexts, even with the old OpenGL.Framework. Don't have any problem with these.

So I have seen in a bunch of posts. The problem I believe is a combination of things. One is that I have an nForce4 based mobo (see sig) and the other is that the 8800GTS I have is the 512MB version. I have literally tried everything (or so it feels).

you might be wrong, netkas, see here, http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08255/gpuz977.jpg

in his rig, it is also 9600gs, and device id=0623, it is g94.

the g92 one is 9600gso, with device id 0610.

here is KarasuTengu's old post to prove he is using 0623 not 0610: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=932737

If he got success, It is highly possible that all the 9600gt will be WORKING!

including mine :)

KarasuTengu

9600gs is g92 chip, isnt news at all.

hey macgirl, i figured i would give this a go - i have a 9600m GS and i used xdarwin's 1.2.2 software and edited all the NEW kexts from the update to match my device ID,

it finally boots with full 1900 by 1200 resolution, however i do not have a refresh rate settings nor do i have qe/ci, any ideas how i can get that to work?

thank you.

In my laptop I had a similar problem with EFI strings and 10.5.5 kexts, no QE/CI but had Resolution and display sleep.

I could get QE/Ci with Nvinject from Xdarwin Installer, on my desktop I had no problems when I updated to 10.5.5 and still using EFI strings.

I used version 1.2.2 (I think 1.2.3 will also work)

Note that you need the 10.5.5 and the kexts of the MacBook update!

NVDarwin 1.2.2: http://rapidshare.com/files/155843898/NVda...2.mpkg.zip.html

I don't know the link to the Macbook-Update yet, but I can look for it if you don't find it...

You have to extract the Geforce-kexts (with Pacifist) and install them (make sure you have 10.5.5 before that!!!)

Actually it should work then...

PacmanMCE can you upload the file you have used to make the 9600m gt fully work or at least give me the links?Sorry it's not lazyness but i've already tried NVDarwin but with no success....only "unlocked" the corret resolution on my laptop....

Hi Bongo Kong, you might wanna study a little bit about gfx string, then based on the linked one (laptop use nVidia 7300GO/Quadro NVS 110M gfx string), modify to fit, and see how it goes.

I have the same videocard. The card is recognized but still unable to change resolution. Could you tell me please what you have done to get this card working?

Many thanks
