I was hoping that after the closing date, the admin would be kind enough to show the compilations of logos sent by the members. It will be nice to see how much participation the members shown.

 

By the way, IMHO, the new site design is lacking. The font color is too strong thus making it stand out more than the design itself. I suggest doing some research on the design trend of 2008.

 

There's plenty of designs the admin should look at and I guess it would be exhausting to pick the best.

Actually that would be a shame... I think InsanelyMac does more advertising for App*e than something else...

I tried hackintosh... and in a few months I'm buying a MBP... I'm far to be thinking i'm the only one in this case.

Thank you, the font is called Myriad Pro. (I think it is from Adobe)

 

The copyrighted apple logo was one of the reasons I didn't use it. I just made a similar dot on the i.

 

My opinion is the same like many others of us I think... the current design is better than the new one. The new one is like if it was made in MS Paint... ?

Yours is very nice, too but imho the black and red color theme gives the site some strange look&feel of a poker site or something like that. Maybe you change the colours?

Any chance we could get a snapshot of the "light" theme? Given the users choice the logo/wordmark would have to work in both instances…and I don't know if some of the previous logo's would work as well, when placed on a white background.

Agreed. I want to see the light theme because there is NO WAI I will be using the dark theme when it comes out. I will be using light theme + AdBlock Plus

There are a few very good ideas and some very good logos here. I haven't been inspired to do a logo in a while.

 

And now that you mention it, I should probably rework mine to go with a white theme. I'll edit this post later to include it.

Thank-you for that, I too share your profession. I agree fully agree (except) that all of us are a part of this and not just those of us making money with what we do.

 

some of us are better than others but we all start somewhere, as an artist i am happy that this site has the potential to inspire other great artist with such an event as this. even if many of you will pirate the apple logo and even use the command sign its vital that we all start somewhere. I have to say that this sure is a nice way to get a free logo (brand).

 

First thing first!Due to my profession (brand development and graphic design) I must kindly ask you if osx86 really wants to be a brand or not?! (not just a simple web community with a nice logo and a good website)... I won't lecture you about branding. It would be out of line; I supose not many of you share my job. I guess everybody knows his/her job, whatever that is. But the symbol (or the inappropriate term "logo") is more than a beautiful sign with a name associated, and branding is no monkey business! A branding (or re-branding) programme is a 4 step process: a preliminary study, the construction of the brand, the communication of the new vision upon the brand and the implementation of the brand. It's anything but an one man show! For more detailed info you can pm me...Nevertheless, as far as I've seen, several designs are WRONG WRONG WRONG from the very first jump. (No offense to the designers)1. This a respectable web community with a respectable website. Why then should the symbol be so sarcastic, or suggesting the software piracy? Do we really encourage the piracy? or do we laugh about what we do here? That doesn't mean the symbol shouldn't be funny!2. Many designs I've seen are already copywritted by Apple! And you don't wanna mess with Apple, don't you?! You use/modify the Apple symbols (designs, pictures) in any manner, without Apple's permission, you must stand trial! A personal avatar is one thing, but an official symbol of some organisation is another! Also some desingns are somehow "Leopard oriented". The osx86 project didn't start with Leo, nor it will end with Leo. (I hope)3. Only few designs do have a single colour version. The single colour version is the main version of the symbol.I won't comment on the quality of the desings, in terms of concept/composition/finishing. There are some interesting ideas...Being an open competition of design, everybody is welcome to participate. But the branding and the graphic design should be left in the hands of professionals. And I don't think that's a money problem. There must be some members who can do the right thing for free or a small sum in their afterhours. You wouldn't go under the knife unless the surgeon has a license! Killing the look of insanely mac is no difference! If you agree with me, I'll be glad to help.
