I thought I would checkout the hype of the Mac OS on a Intel based machine.... After much

dinking around I got it installed on a Intel box and I played around with it... This video link

is pretty much what I've come to the conclusion of the Mac OS on Intel..

Hahaha, you're a stupid one, i think this sums it up a little better you {censored}

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated: “If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving twenty-five dollar cars that got 1000 miles to the gallon.”

In response to Bill’s comments, General Motors issued a press release stating (by Mr. Welch himself): If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:

1. For no reason whatsoever your car would crash twice a day.

2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would just accept this, restart and drive on.

4. Occasionally executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5. Only one person at a time could use the car unless you bought “Car95” or ”CarNT.” But then you would have to buy more seats.

6. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, reliable, five times as fast, and twice as easy to drive, but would only run on five percent of the roads.

7. The oil, water temperature and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single “general car default” warning light.

8. New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt.

9. The airbag system would say “Are you sure?” before going off.

10. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key, and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

11. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of Rand McNally road maps (now a GM subsidiary) even though they neither need them nor want them. Attempting to delete this option would immediately cause the car’s performance to diminish by 50% or more. Moreover, GM would become a

target for investigation by the Justice Department.

12. Every time GM introduced a new model, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

13. You’d press the “start” button to shut off the engine.

wow a video spurs off someone who is obviously mature enough to call someone else a {censored}..

your Microsoft to GM comparison is ancient {censored}... I've ran Windows XP SP2 for months at a time without having any errors or random reboots..

the MAC OS is nothing more than a verison of BSD with a somewhat user friendly GUI....

oh and further more technology has existed for the past 30 years to get over 100 MPG on any car/truck.

go checkout http://www.fuelvapors.com to see all the shelved patented inventions that car manufacturers and oil companies don't want released..

I happen to think that the word {censored} is very mature, it puts a smile on my face every time i say it. I'm not going to make an ongoing chain of back and forth insults. I'm actually quite impressed that your computer has been working for a matter of MONTHS!

congrats, I've been running my powerbook G4 for a good 3 years now and formatted my hard drive about zero times and I could safely bet that the number of times my computer has crashed would be the number of times you have had to reformat a windows system.

You should try a real one, not on your {censored} pc box and maybe you wouldn;t have to clover-period-space-do it in the bum it to make it work. I do agree with you that it s a {censored} to run on a generic pc box, if you are that unimpressed go buy a real one.

and yes, vapour cars are the way for the future, haha, I found that link quite amusing

Computers crash would be a more accurate statement. I have used both mac and pc and can't say that i've noticed either machine crash more or less than the other. Both operating systems have evolved and its true 98 crashed a lot more than xp, and system 9 crashed a lot more than os x does.

Makes me think of the first time I used a Mac back in the early nineties. I think I spent about 10 minutes of mounting frustration trying to find the command line so I could delete a file I had on the desktop. (someone finally pointed out the "drag and drop" to the trashcan feature)

I admit it's been a load of fun getting it installed and running. Although I've been dependent on my superiors for the real hacks, I have learned quite a bit in the process. It seems to run perfectly fast and stable for me (minus OpenGL support) and functions well.

All in all though, I'm not very impressed with OS X. The included media player (QuickTime) won't play any of my .ogg or .m2v or even xvid media files. I haven't found 25 good programs for decrypting and ripping DVD's yet. (I haven't even found 1)

Just from a few weeks playing with it, it seems to me that it's fairly easy to get OS X to do what Apple designed it to do, but MUCH harder to get it to do what "I" want.

As far as the "stability comparison" goes, I haven't seen XP crash in 3 years. Although it is a good idea to reboot XP every 3 months or so.

I won't buy a real Mac for myself, they seem to be more a "consumer electronics" device than a general purpose computer. (although I hear a lot of artists like them, but I'm sure that has more to do with the graphics or art programs used on the mac, than the mac itself.)

I can honestly say now, since I installed OS X 10.4.5 (about 4 days ago), it hasn't crashed once. I know that that isn't a large time frame, but it is extremely stable, and everything is working like a charm.

Funny video though, I must say...

I'm only surprised because some people cannot take a joke as a joke. I showed this video to a friend using mac since a long time, he thought it to be funny. You dont have to be serious about everything you own, just because you own it. It's all manmade, it has flaws. Just live with it. Have a smile or a lol about a video like this and move on.

that guy nailed it: thread closed! ;)

Best programs i found for ripping dvd's was dvd 2 one, and there are plenty of rippers, i used to have a mac, till it got killed, now back in windows, i forgot how much time you spend tinkering with windows just to keep it working. Never had to worry about maintenance with my ibook.

Fake.

See: http://www.snopes.com/humor/jokes/autos.asp

One of the classic "switcher" parody video clips. :)

The funny thing is back a few years ago when it made the rounds, some Mac users (the kind that falls on the "Mac can do no wrong" side of the scale and therefore have no sense of humor) thought the guy was a serious Mac hater (he is an actual Mac user).
