Hi if I may, I find this query interesting as I also have an MSI Board albeit a Z490, plus a DVD burner player no longer in use as I changed the p/c case to a more modern one that does not provide a slot for a player. On reading these posts with the difficulty of such players with Sonoma, I decided to connect my old one to test if the findings are correct. I can report I have/had no such problem as described, the only thing I have observed, the Player is not recognized on the Desktop, only when a Disk is inserted then an Icon appears. Playing DVDs is achievable, I have not test burning any files as yet but I do not foresee any problems in achieving that. I have included a series of pics to show what I've done in the test I don't know but maybe try different SATA ports to insure you're not sharing a lane with another Drive??!! (or am I off the mark here?) Cheers.3 points

Apple didn't make exfat driver working in recovery because the is no sense to use exfat during system recovery. System recovery should use only APFS drives, exfat can be used for data store, no more. If you have a system installer on exfat volume then copy it in a bootloader to APFS volume and then use in recovery.2 points

i have it working but loaded inside a kext. check nootered/blue or if you wanna load it inside whatevergreen just add this 2 files and edit info.plist session for your display using hackintool ofc you will need xcode to rebuild the whatevergreen.kext here's the changes in latest sources WhateverGreen.kext.zipWhateverGreen-master.zip here's sample of my display i can change using hackintool and then just copy the values to the info.plist inside whatevergreen.kext detail is if you need to change settings you must unload whatevergreen cause if not hakintool will give a new vendor/product id2 points

I am hopeful that the OC OpenDuet issues that I've experienced since OC 0.9.7 are resolved in the next release of OC. The fix "Fixed problem loading non-firmware runtime drivers" seems promising.2 points

Mieze So, just tried out your driver with a X540-T2 that I got from eBay for a whopping $25......fantastic! Works great, and very fast - considerably faster than the Aquantia I have been using. Great work! It worked in Ventura, Sonoma (14.5 B2), and Ubuntu/Mint. I had a bit of trouble in Windows 11, but was able to find a driver and work around there and once that was done, it was working in all of my installed betas (the machine I use them on is an Intel Z790 Asus motherboard and I don't really use that for production needs, just for betas of various Operating Systems). The main point is that 10G adapter is working on all of them, and working extremely well in my two Mac installations thanks to you. Thank you!2 points

I still deploy 2 cases that are fitted with DVD drive bays and in both I have a LG brand BlueRay RW drive installed with both functioning without issues under macOS Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura as well as Sonoma. Just wanted to let you know. Greetings Henties1 point

There are two different worlds divided by mach_kernel start to process. First of all it clears all interrupt vectors and set own drivers. Briefly: efi drivers work before kernel started kext drivers work after kernel started including recovery mode.1 point

I am using open source https://www.analogway.com/americas/products/software-tools/aw-edid-editor/ But there is almost nothing to edit. Two patches made by Clover is more than enough.1 point

I am not sure but I may propose that the exfat.kext is not present in cache in recovery mode. Consider a way to inject it by a bootloader.1 point

First of all make a backup of your current EFI. Now you've got two choices. Take your current EFI and update it. Update OC, kexts and any patches you may be using. Start again from scratch. If you need some help remove your SMBios info from the config and upload the EFI as a zip archive.1 point

I bought an active displayport to HDMI adapter and it fixed that problem. On this gtx 1080 videocard there are two displayports and audio output probably work on both. I have a gigabyte alpine ridge thunderbolt card in this computer and if I make it work like a real mac card it will probably allow even more displays.1 point

I should notice that HDAU name forces AppleHDA to attach to the device. As it doesn't work then you may rename the device to HDMI and then use VoodooHDA with setting <key>IONameMatch</key> <string>HDMI</string>1 point

Yes, you did! Try to set an MTU of 9000 with com.apple.DriverKit-AppleEthernetIXGBE.dext. You'll notice that you can't because the maximum supported MTU is 2034 and that's a no-go for a 10 Gbit Ethernet adapter. Besides that Large Receive Offload is also not supported. 🤣1 point

If anyone would like to, I was able to successfully get my T420 to boot into BigSur with opencore and the OCLP getting the Intel HD3000 graphics working. Outside of a sleep issue, it works flawlessly and is fairly quick (16gb of ram) and SSD. I know BigSur went EOL October '23, but at least it's newer than S/HS/M. Trying to get Monterrey/Ventura/Sonoma to work as I'm ok that certain things won't work (photos crashes constantly, works occassionally). People on the r/hackintosh forum have reported it working, but no one has provided a guide as of yet. And happy new year to all.1 point

For what it's worth I boot my x299 rig with Clover. Based on that I've been using the patch and a SSDT for Ventura and it has worked fine. On the last two releases of Sonoma I've not had any luck so far with the AQN-107, those are the only two I've tried. No panics, just no 10G network. EDIT: I guess I need a stronger pair of glasses, it seems I made a typo in the plist. My 107 is working with my previous SSDT and the new patch; Kext: com.apple.driver.AppleEthernetAquantiaAqtion Find: 0F845003 0000. - (Ventura was 0F844503 0000) Replace: 660F1F44 0000 Thanks to all for sorting that out.1 point
