JaS OSx86 10.5.4 Client Server Intel SSE2 SSE3 released

apowerr

JaS's latest DVD comes with the following release notes:

Finally after much hard work and effort, repackaging / cutting driver to have the most stable release I could, along with months of hard work my version of OS X for Intel based systems is ready. This release features upgrading from the customize installation menu along with StageXNU (SSe2 SSe3 kernel thx everyone in xnu-chat for keeping older hardware alive with this great kernel) , NVKush (thx Diabolik) , chameleon (thx zef & Kabyl), SMBIOSResolver (thx Superhai), SMBIOS (thx iGuru) The whole range of Radeon HD Series drivers (thx netkas and lastExile). HDA drivers (thx Taruga) Along with the standard drivers usually found in other leopard install dvds. This release does not include any apps/mods to the UI. Also this is a OS X 10.5.4 Server (thx for the packages f41qu3 and SJobs) / Client installation dvd. Installation of Server will require a valid serial that I have not included. The base for this release was built with slipstream (thx Dense). DVD art by Realityiswhere.

Thanks to everyone over at irc.osx86.hu , irc.moofspeak.net , hackint0sh.org , insanelymac , and osx86scene.

Remember the point of this is to have some fun and learn a bit if we can. Also to help each other out, remember " no one left behind that can be supported" this is our motto and our creed.

JaS's releases are renowned for their high quality, and no doubt this one will continue the trend. Good luck installing everyone, I know I can't wait ;)

EDIT: Got a screenshot of the Installer options, looks very complete with a plethora of drivers. Nice work! -REVENGE

Mine on FS Stylistic ST5020D is Intel 855GME chipset. As long as I know 855 should be the same chipset. GMA means Graphic Media Accellerator or something similar meaning the integrated Intel graphic chip is included. So long it looks I will stick to 10.4.8 and will try to solve the sleep or brightness issue. Leo for my rig seems too complicated so far, unless I find the right setup from all the options before installation. I will keep on trying, I have macbook too and would love my tablet to be fully usable with Leo, but until fast start, sleep and brightness issues are solved, I'll have to stick with Vista, will inform of any progress.

Yes it seems SSE2 and 855 chipset spell disaster for this distro.

No one who has them both has been successful that I have heard.

I hope JaS is going to release ppf's soon or I'll have to try fresh iDeneb..

Don't depend on iDeneb being the answer. I tried iDeneb before i tried this JaS release and while it did install (very very slowly) it didn't manage to boot.

It seems every release has some differences that make it work on one machine but fail on the other. I like the fact that iDeneb's release contains all updates until now but then again i can just do an Apple update and arrive at the same stage.

Both have made a great release i think but only one boots on my system and in the end this is what it's all about. :censored2:

Yep, Acidfever, stability of every release of OSX86 is very depending on hardware. I like JaS, just because his DVD with 10.4.6 was first in my hackintosh 'practice' and it worked like a charm.

Usually the website of the manufacturer of the computer will be helpful.

I'm having boot errors (boot1: error) with GUID. With MBR it works but I'd like to have GUID; is this a kernel choice? With Kalyway it works; I thought this was using the Vanilla kernel?

Any hints are welcome!

you're right, but I'll keep on trying, if not jas 10.4.8 is the way, although leo would be nice. I have a set of different cds so will try all posibilities until I am sure it does not work, or perhaps a mirracle? if any possitive result, i'll post it.

Hey all, i want to begin by saying that i trully love this whole hachintosh project (all distros) and im saving up some money so i can make a a nice donation to the project...

Im also new to it, but i cant get enough of it...Ive been reading on these topics for the last 10 hours straight...

...Now a noobie question: Do you think that an old PC with an AMD Duron(1.0GHz) from 1999 is able to run Mac(any distro)?

Im thinking of using an old pc that i have as the test PC and it has an AMD duron from 1999-2000.

Thanks!!! :(

I have a hard problem. After a succesfull install, it needs to restart. So I just restart it, and select MacOS. Then some text is coming up very fast, and the whole system just reboots.

Please, someone that can help me...?

Specs:

Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Northwood SSE/SSE2

Sapphire ATI Radeon X1650 Pro AGP 256 MB GDDR 3

1 GB RAM (Dane-Elec)

Intel i845PE chipset

I think the other parts arn't so important.

Look forward to any findings you may discover, however I can tell you (see my signature) that I have tried many many distros without any luck

Same here.

After the light blue screen of the "installer" is shown it just hangs and thats it.

I'm not sure that i have the same problem.

I can succeed in the installation-process and after that (after the first reboot of system) the system starts to load.

The screen that i can see is a grey screen in background with the apple centered in the screen. The cursor is like when it's loading but it does not load the system.

My specifications:

ASUS A6VA

Intel Centrino Processor

1Gb Ram

Display Card: Ati Mobility X700

JAS: Any help?

Thank you!

Well, i tried the given solution and now all i get is waiting for root device. I already patched the cd(GMA900 and extension.mkext).

I tried different setup and choose even the simplest configuration e.g. 9.4 kernel,10.5.2 system.kext and apple97audio same result waiting for root device.. anyone can give me something that i can try?? I also tried putting the patched extensions.mkext again using other computer and repair permission the same result.

The solution to the root device problem is posted several times in the thread. add the attached kexts to the extensions folder after installing, and run chown -R root:wheel and chmod -R 755 on them

Jas,

Another Great one!!! I was running your 10.5.2 release and used this to upgrade it. Glad I used time machine though, I had to use it to get the extensions folder back from 10.5.2 and the Filesystems folder back to get my cdrom drive to work again. I also had to use the extensions.mkext and GMA900 trick to get it working correctly.

After running this cd I was able to run all the apple upgrades right off the bat and all went smoothly. Thanks again. :thumbsup_anim::):D :D

How much money have you donated apple?

This Mooch comes on here and cries a story like on many other forums and people donate him money?

If he can do this he can get a {censored} job like the rest of us.

He is a lazy {censored} that wants to just stay home and live off other people's work.

you fools that are sending him money are {censored}s.

He is probably screwing the release up on purpose to force you idiots to donate for him to fix it.
