This one coming from AppleInsider, states the preparation of OS X 10.4.11 by Apple. They (Apple) seek to seed the pre-release build to developers in the future.

Apple on Tuesday afternoon began informing a select group of developers that it plans at least one more maintenance update to its Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger operating system ahead of October's planned release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.

However:

Since developers have yet to received the first pre-release seeds...

Most likely a typo, but neverthless a humourous find. There have been numerous issues still unresolved from the 10.4.10 update, and many individuals are experiencing worse problems than from 10.4.9, so hopefully Apple will seek to eliminate all of these problems on the next update.

The naming strategy with a re-revision with 2 digits looks strange smomehow... but which alternative had they? 10.4.9.1 ?

Lets party when we reach 10.4.44...

Could be a "final" patch to 10.4 to get Tiger and Leopard to play nice together.

This shows how long it's been between Tiger and Leopard. The longest wait yet for an official update. But it looks worth it!

hopefully like 10.4.10... not important and just confusing. (isn't 1.4.2 > 10.4.11?)

I presume you ment 10.4.2 > 10.4.11?

It's a difficult task. It depends on the dots I think. 10.4.2 could be also 10.4.2.0. If you have now 10.4.1.1 it's older, but if you now have 10.4.11.0 it would be newer... oh {censored}. Now we're talking about re-re-re-visions already! Which f*cking guy was the first one who had the idea to name program versions after the x.y.z style?
