apple-silently-updates-white-macbook.jpg

Apple recently (and quietly) updated its popular white MacBook. The new white MacBook now available from the Apple store offers a faster newer generation 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, standard 2GB DDR2 memory, NVIDIA 9400M graphics, Bluetooth 2.1, 120GB HDD, and a new unibody (like the aluminum MacBooks) white polycarbonate shell. The white MacBook still only costs $999 and will be the bottom end of Apple's line of Mac notebooks. As for optioning, RAM can be upgraded up to 4GB, the hard disk can be upgraded up to 320GB, and of course all of the usual Apple options (iWork, Aperture, Apple Remote, AppleCare, etc. etc.).

Apple had issues with the Intel CPU (speed/temp) in the MacBook predecessor, and had to throttle it back to a lower clock speed. This new logic board should fix this, among other, issue(s).

Not bad at all, at least now can perform better with the Nvidia 9400M and it will be compatible with Snow Leopard's OpenCL ^_^

Just had a look-see on their website. The only downside to this notebook is that there is no LED display. Its the same old crappy macbook glossy display.

I also think that not having firewire is a big downside seeing that some people STILL use miniDV camcorders... oh well I still have the trusty hackintosh.

But, this one has!!

"

  • Mini-DVI port
  • FireWire 400 port (up to 400 Mbps)
  • Two USB 2.0 ports (up to 480 Mbps)"

ok that's good. I assumed after the white macbook was updated that it lost the firewire port like the aluminum one did. thanks for the correction.
