Apple Releases iPhone/iPod touch Update 1.1.4

Numberzz

Along with the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros, Apple released a new update to the iPhones firmware: 1.1.4. The release is said to only contain bug changes, so it is a very small update. So small in fact, that Zibri's jailbreak method still works. That's right, you can upgrade your touch screen device, and use the same jailbreak method that worked with 1.1.3. This is the first update that has come out of Apple that didn't break the jailbreak method. Zibri still doesn't want people to upgrade yet, for he needs to test it out, in case of something bad happening.

I have yet to see a site that answers this question:

Does this mean you can update an existing jailbroken iPhone to 1.1.4 w/o reseting the iPhone first? Or do you have to go back to a standard iPhone, update to 1.1.4 and then re-jailbreak after the update?

Any adventurous souls out there try this?

I had 1.1.3 w/ the ziphone jailbreak. Upgraded to to 1.1.4 and did the 2.4 ziphone jailbreak and all is fine. Unfortunately I did have to reinstall all my apps but everything works great. Using the 2.4 version u get an error 1 code at the end of the jailbreak in ziphone but everyone who has tried it gets this and it has no obvious effects on the phone at all. I've spent many hours trying to find problems or changes. Works great! 2.5 of ziphone is supposed to be out in a few minutes according to his site so there really was no point in posting this... but yeah.... :D

EDIT: 2.5 ziphone is now out

I just did the upgrade to 1.1.4 using ZiPhone 2.5, following the few simple steps to the T and I have to say ... RESPECT! That was the easiest fastest most straightforward hack ever. Jailbreak and SIM unlock work like a charm.

I was coming from a 1.1.1 updated 1.0.2 iPhone (purchased sep 07), did the manual restore to 1.1.4, fired up ZiPhone, hit a couple of buttons and off it went.

I can finally receive SMS from alphanumeric senders, like web-based SMS, voice mail alerts etc.

Nice one!
