Apple iMacs Updated!

We all knew it was coming. Today, Apple finally updated their iMacs, which have not been updated since last August. They feature a faster CPU, Front-Side Bus, and a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS video card in the high end 24" model. The low end has an ATI Radeon HD 2400XT, and the two midrange-models have a ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro. The 24" model can hold up to 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive.

 

-20", 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128MB. $1199

-20", 2.6GHz, 2GB RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO 256MB, $1499

-24", 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO 256MB, $1799

-24", 3.06GHz, 2GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS 512MB, $2199

I wish though I could have the 8800 GS without the 3 ghz C2E. Atleast offer it on a lower model too...Good though.

You can... the 8800 GS is a bto option for the low end 24" model with the 2.8 GHz cpu.

Why is the 8800GS only offered in the $2200, 3.06GHz iMac?!? Why must Apple always come one step short of a decent gaming offering at the $1200 price point, WHY?!?! AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

 

Looks like I'll be using a Hack for another go-round.

Looks like I'll be using a Hack for another go-round.

 

I know seriously, would be a decent gamer with cider and bootcamp. My hack works fine, updates and all, I'm happy with it.

The 24'' 8800GS 512mb is smexy but i'm sticking to the plan and getting the MBR
