Mysticus C*
bump stop bumping! i hate that... please provide details when the freeze happening? during installing stg? during internet usage? or randomly while doing nothing? bcoz kernel panics happens by triggering something... either loading a driver or loaded driver starts working... your system log would be much appreciated... to help identify the problem... @rernkent: take 2 gb off and run the system with 2gb... bcoz nforce ata drivers has 64 bit issue with the mcp controller of nvidia! same goes with jmicron controllers as well... for the drivers part, choose correct nvinject, which in your case is 512mb! for your wireless, you need to identify model etc including details like vendor and device ids as well... dont bother trying any forcedeth or nforceethernetcontroller drivers for on board lan as it will give u much more trouble... from bios make sure your sata controllers set to ahci and noth any ide mode! on the sata ports... all sata ahci!!! and another setting execute disable bit = enabled Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87901-nforce-chipsets-how-to-install-leo-easy-and-fast-with-iatkos-v10i-r3-nforce-edition-or-kalyway-1052-dvd/page/63/#findComment-796466 Share on other sites
c0balt
I used the "maxmem=2048", but still the freeze. Question is... when I use the maxmem=2048, and I boot, system says I have only 2g of ram.. so, the problem is that the 2g of ram are still conected to the hardware?? P.D: I´m not using LAN! Frequently Reported Common Problems Regarding Certain Hardwares:====================================================# On board or Any network card: on board nic is a dream to work right now, and other nics that has a driver made around 10.4.8 or earlier doesnt work on Leopard correctly and has either freeze problems or network drops under heavy usage!!!! These network cards, are RTL 8139,8169 and some other models, as I said , have drivers but all these drivers made around 10.4.8 or earlier version of OSX. Although they work fine on normal usage, they drop network, under heavy usage, or can give freeze problem on some mobos while using programs like azureus or similar... below two wireless network cards, are quite new and they have official driver from manufacturer and their drivers are compiled to work on Leopard and they work fine under heavy usage or with network programs and doesnt cause drops or freeze (unlike other cards are made for 10.4.8 or earlier) + Linksys WUSB54GC (reported OK) there are official drivers for this + Netgear WG111V3 wireless card (My suggestion) (there are official drivers for this) + Apple USB to Ethernet (reported OK) works OTB............ (Similar to what I have now!) and another question... ¿Intel chipet mobos can use 4g of ram? Thanks! Hi. Well, I´m not a very experienced user to help you with proper information, but I own an nForce mobo too and I´ll tell you what worked for me. - First off all, listen to what Mysticus says. He´s a very experienced user and he really knows what he´s doing. So, if you ask for help, follow all the steps you´re asked to. - My problem with nForce was solved with one moded BIOS I got from Kabyl. Without that I wouldn´t be able to run the 4 cores of my processor. Try looking here: http://osrom.net/biosmod/ - This is the page Kabyl posts moded BIOS for many mobos with issues. - About the mobo for your system, you should try looking for HCL 10.5.2 in an wiki, I hope this helps you find a compatible mobo and similar to what you have now. But remember, it´s a must that you listen to what you ask and follow the steps correctly. One thing I learned here, and I learned from the best, is that you don´t need to be worried about making OSX works perfectly in the first try. You need to get familiarized with the whole system before you get it working like a charm. So, take your time, walk around the whole forum looking for any sort of info related to your problems and then you´ll have more knowledge about the whole thing. Thanks! your mobo is the same exact model i had previously... it is not that much of a problematic mobo! as you kep saying... one of the first things you should do is to define when it is happening (while doing what? while not doing anything? while using internet? while copying large files? etc etc? what?) do you have any overclocks? do you have the latest bios? also from my experience this mobo doesnt like many memory models esp i had problems in 800 mhz ranges... one brand works fine another causes random freezes/blue screen in windows as well... when i had 4 gb ram, i had random freezes but when i took off 2 gb, never had any issues for random freezing... sleep/restart/shutdown all worked! network was problem due to drivers incompatibility in nforce chipset, but found 3 network cards that i listed in post#2 working great w/o any problems... some people reported mouse issues, which i believe related nvidia cards everyone who has mouse issue has nvidia cards... i had ati card and never had any mouse issue at all!!! one problem that persists on nforce chipsets is sata dvd drives... there is one test driver to make sata dvds to work better than previous nforce ata drivers but it also is not perfect either... so solution is ide dvd.. audio works with all ports now with latest taruga drivers... what doesnt work: + 2 x nvidia gfx cards either sli or single mode doesnt matter, also in intel chipsets same+ (1 x nvidia 1 ati cards works fine) + 4 gb ram + on board lan things to consider in bios: + sata ports in ahci mode (dont use any ide/native modes! for sata) + execute disable bit: enabled + acpi suspend mode: s1 or s3... if everything is done correctly, as above, it is down to you to mess things up... because i used that mobo with os x more than 1 yr nothing as major as you say! Hi cObalt, I have an Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus (nForce 650i chipset) MOBO - see my signature - follow the Mysticus C* path closely via Kalyway 10.5.2 and the Mysticus v1.4b 10.5.3 Updater path carefully and you should be fine..... I am running 10.5.3 (at 3.0GHz for everyday use but up to 3.3GHz for special use) with maxmem=3072 and all 4 cores running without any major problems so far (only Grab occasionally causes a freeze when dragging mouse pointer quickly).... If I boot with "cpus=1" everything work ok! Restart and shutdown works fine.. no problem copying large files (under "cpus=1" command, because without it, I can´t get to do anything..) I´m sorry I ask so much.. but I feel like I´m only one step away from making this work and that is driving me crazy!! i dont know about kalyway's graphics package totally, but there is one issue with nvidia gfx drivers with nforce chipsets... what happens is that when the graphics drivers loading, one check line is missing in the drivers, than by mistake, gfx drivers are loading for wrong devices bcoz this missing line... sounds confusing? you gotta understand the problem first... you have nforce chipset mobo, that means you have lots of devices with nvidia device/vendor ids... gfx drivers dont check wheter these ids belong to VGA category or not, it just loads... why this happens on nforce and not on intel... I just answered the question in the first sentence, but if you want more details, here it is... it doesnt happen on intel chipset bcoz intel chipset has intel ids, so it wont mix it up... but then why it doesnt happen on intel gfx cards on intel chipset? bcoz intel drivers has category check first before loading so it ensures it is loading for a vga card! thats why... if this is not the issue, than you either have messed up your system with wrong drivers (such as forcedeth, or nforceethernetcontroller) or you definetely selected wrong files or you scrambled some stuffs on your system... i used my system for 1 yr, w/o any major freezes whatsoever other than known problems... my best guess is that you messes up your installation with your pre-installation choices (bcoz most newbies/noobs dont read guides carefuly) or after install you manually scrambled some other major stuffs... cant say for sure... i can suggest to start fresh! AND MAKE SURE YOU READ 2-3 TIMES BEFORE YOU DO THINGS... BECAUSE UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU READ IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF ALL... LATER WHEN YOU START DOING/TESTING THINGS ON YOUR OWN, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING YOU READ BETTER.... PRACTISING/BRICKING AND OTHER EXPERIENCE WILL INCREASE YOUR LEARNING CURVE... YOU CANT JUMP BEFORE YOU LEARN TO CRAWL,WALK, RUN...ok this is my last message on the forum for two weeks...travelling to far far east now i will be back in two weeks time to reply again...good luck all...Hi Mysticus, My test of your v1.4b 10.5.3 Updater was successful.... I deliberately chose to install PCGenUSBEHCI from the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD.....checked it was present in IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins, and then ran your v1.4b Updater..... as you say it is removed!..... Excellent feature in your v1.4b Updater for new installers of Kalyway 10.5.2 ! dopyoman
Ive been having problems installing OSX and Ive tried just about every release out there and I keep getting stuck after the install tries to reboot. I tried installing it exactly like in the guide but it still freezes. This screen shot it the error or point where it freezes after i finished installing using iAtkos 2.0i with only the nforce core patch, darwin bootloader and the essentials marked. I've tried may other combinations but they all seem to fail. I did get a kernel panic when I installed the ToH kernel using iAtkos 2.0i. Can someone suggest what are the best setting I should use for my motherboard Asus P5N-E when using the iAtkos 2.0i install. Since when i tried following the guide and installed using the iAtkos 1.0ir3 and setting it up exactly like in the picture it hangs on the reboot. iAtkos 2.0 I get the same error as in the screenshot with the following selected Selected Main base system Darwin bootloader (the one under) Select Nforce Core EFI kernel and acpi Remove thermal NEtkas Smbios / and without Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87901-nforce-chipsets-how-to-install-leo-easy-and-fast-with-iatkos-v10i-r3-nforce-edition-or-kalyway-1052-dvd/page/63/#findComment-799177 Share on other sites

I ask because of http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=80122 and the posts by supersitition. so I suspect it may be a problem with your Zotac 8800GT 512MB setup and NVinject driver etc. Even though I am not highly experienced as some, e.g. Mysticus C*, I suggest installing iAtkos 2.0i without choosing any VGA drivers initially, and then booting with -v -f -x and see what happens and let me know......... and we can take it from there...... Well I did as you suggested and booted with -v -f -x and it got stuck but in a different spot. This time the last three lines read: Jettisoning kernel linker. Hi there, look here..... As I think I understand it currently, an fs event occurs whenever any file is changed on the system by some running process . However, if a particular process freezes, then an fs event is generated as it repeatedly tries to re-establish contact with the frozen process. The system then locks out because of repeatedly trying to re-start this process..... Some have reported that fseventsd issues have arisen from a process running in the background such as Time Machine, perhaps Spotlight, or even a 3rd party application e.g. Growl.... so suggest you reboot using -v -x and see what happens.... also be patient as some procesess can be quite slow on bootup, so before deciding that bootup has "frozen" check that there is no HDD activity... Also, can you check that there are no 3rd part apps being installed by iAtkos such as Growl for example, and also do not install any lan or wifi drivers....then reboot -v -x....
