realfolkblues
My computer was running slow because I had not defraged it in forever! and dont start with the macs dont need to be defraged {censored} cauz they do! especially if you do alot of torrenting. So i thought i would run a test on my second computer b4 i took my torrent computer offline just to make sure my idea worked. I made a backup of my laptop with time machine and then restored it. Low and behold my drive was zipidoda fast and all my files were and settings did not need to be deleted. Check out these pics! Before backup/restore After restore as you can see it's a much more optimized drive and i did not have to bother reformatting manuallly, or waiting for a long defrag. I'll be running this on my torrent computer next i expect to see some really great results there. Ai Haibara
He used iDefrag just to check if his drive was optimized or not. The optimization was done by TimeMachine. Good find! Urbz
This could also be a great way to fix that dreaded Boot Camp error when trying to partition the drive. Basically, if data is spread to far apart to relocate files and partition the disk (or if things are simply too fragmented) Boot Camp Assistant gives an error, and it doesn't go away until a defrag. This is an excellent way to fix that as well, considering that once the backup has been restored, everything is exactly as you left it! BTW how long did it take you, realfolkblues? And how many gigs were you restoring?
