I have to go with a "sort of" answer.

I always recommend installing Leopard Rev1 on a ATA Drive (not SATA). Also, you have to be carefull when creating partitions, as you may lose all of your data on the drive.

If you are familiar with linux, or tools like gqparted, then you could use the free space to create a blank partition. Let OSX do the formatting.

Well as Vista SP1 comes out the first HD will be formatted (important things backed up) then the second one will be left alone because it has all my games and XP.

I'm burning the DVD now.

EDIT: I burned it, booted in, and after a few minutes an 'unknown sigsegv code 0' error...I have no idea what to do....can someone help me out through AIM/MSNM or something?

Hi again... I'm f*ked up... nothing works... I'm still stucked at the grey screen with the "beach ball" mouse cursor working...No error messages, nothing, just the screen... :( i don't know what to do, everything seems to be fine....
When starting leopard hit F8 and type -x then Enter... do you see any error messages?
Try the installer located here ----> http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=01OVLJHUAnd don't forget to tell me if it works ...
This file doesn't include the latest NVinject (has v.020 not v0.21), but it worked for me! QE/CI for ASUS 7300GS 256Mb... woot! Now if only I could resolve Time Machine crashing Finder on Restore.Time Machine restore is not working here... TimeMachine app runs, then Finder crashes and exits. Here is what Console has to say on the matter:1/12/08 4:45:43 PM com.apple.launchd[104] ([0x0-0x1a01a].com.apple.finder[172]) Exited abnormally: Segmentation fault Time Machine backup seems to be working without problems. I've also got full QE/CI going so I don't know what the restore problem is.Anyone else seeing this? Anyone with a possible fix?

Hiii, ok... I finally discovered what was, but it's still an issue...

I disconnected the mouse (PS2) and now i get the welcome screen : ), the one asking to select the region... BUT........

The Keyboard (also PS2) doesn't work and the mouse, like I said, is off.

I already tried the "cp -Rf /System......." command, what can I do now? Other command? IRQ??? what?

Nobody??? I'm desperate..

PS2 - keyboard with mouse = system freeze

PS2 - just keyboard = system is fine, keyboard doesn't work

PS2 - just mouse = system asks for keyboard conection

So, my problem is to have keyboard and mouse working, but I need another solution despite the wiki one, (cp -Rf....)

PLEEEEEAAASE..

If you can use a usb keyboard / mouse. It's what i have to do i cant seem to get my ps2 devices to work correctly either.

My p/2 mouse works but my keyboard doesnt.

I do notice something in startup though "com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Keyboard has an illegal string offset in symbol 273" Not sure if anyone knows what that is.

I read another post somewhere on here if you wanted to use a usb mouse (i use logitech mx510) with a p/2 keyboard to edit the package contents of ApplePS2Controller.kext and rename ApplePS2Mouse.Kext / ApplePS2Trackpad.kext, so i have them as *ApplePS2Mouse.Kext / *ApplePS2Trackpad.kext

Still not having much luck though but i guess im fine for now with using usb keyboard.

So... after another hour testing things around, it worked:

I had the usb keyboard and mouse disabled in bios, then I enabled usb keyboard and.... my ps2 keyboard and ps2 mouse worked :D

BUT.... (there's aways one of those)

I get to the "Do you already own a Mac?", so i choose do "do not import, etc" and.... again it doesn't go further, stays at a grey screen with the "beach ball" cursor..

I guess it's a 12 hours job for each screen that freezes... :D

But now I don't have a clue of what is it...

anyone?

Hi guys!

Total newbie here.

Question. Will leopard run on my amd turion x2 machine with 120G HDD (90G for Vista already installed and 30G reserved for leo), Nvidia 7000 graphix and 2G memory? I have tried instaling iatkos and kalyway but both to no avail. Can someone help me which installer will be best for my specs? Thanx!

A testimonial to new users,

I myself within last week learned of putting osx on our pc's especially the AMD based computers. The first os I attempted to boot/install ... you guessed it.. Zeph's. I have downloaded the rev 1 as posted here and let me tell you what. I have never seen such a headache to even get through the kernel boot to install. Mind you I know my way through linux, hell I got slackware on an old ass Alpha machine. Knowing linux and kernel compiling is a completely different animal than mac to me.

Now as many of users I seen in here posting for help on install including myself to be the culprit we are jumping ahead of the game to fast. Go take a look in the Tiger forums for releases on AMD such as Tubgirls. Why do you ask? I made this move myself and now I am proudly running on 10.4.10 with ease!

I only suggest this because it will get you up and running with a mature version since leopard is still in an infant stage of compatibility for novice users. I will bullet point basically the pro's of learning on Tiger.

  • Higher compatibility and testing done already
  • Early learning - You will be able to finally be able to load up OsX and start discovering other problems head on. Such as video drivers, printer, wireless network card.. you get the point. Once your in the os you are compelled to do more searching to get your hardware working thus preparing you more for leopard and it's headache.
  • Will you like it? - You will also find out if this os is for you. Saving you valuable time and effort for something you wont enjoy.

Sorry if some of this comes across hard to follow since well... dealing with leopard version 1 of zephs cd got me drinking lol. I am now at the point where I understand the system more once being inside and will eventually get leopard up and running through fixing up the iso of rev1 or rev2 when its out.

So in short, if your having a problem and this is the first time you have ever attempted to slap a mac osx on your pc quit trying to get this working and follow my advice by falling back to tiger, get it up faster to learn the in's and out of it then move on from there.

Wish you guys the best and hopefully I will one day join the Leopard crowd AFTER I figure out the god damn geforce 6100 onboard graphics to get QE/CI if anyone is willing to pm me on how I may be able to get that with this card go for it, but no worries.

@ Guz, I think it's been answered a few times on howto update an ISO.

Best way, install 10.4.10, follow the directions in the wiki on howto stream Kexts into it.

Upgrading from 10.4.10, actually makes leopard even more stable (atleast with rev1). Check it out.

@ wattleferdz, your specs look fine, but we recommend installing on a ATA drive (NOT SATA!). As there are many problems with sata controllers that are being addressed in Rev2 (currently in CLOSED beta). As far as your videocard goes, You'd have to check the NVInject page to see if your card is supported. I know most mobile cards are NOT supported, but see for yourself.

@mburns : Have you tried cleaning out every instance of iTunes, including old preferances, and what not? You /can/ uninstall iTunes and get something else =P

I jk, but like I said, i've never heard of a problem like that. Even after CPUID patching.

No i havnt tried that but i will now

Have you tried to run Onyx 1.9 on your system? Download it here, install the .pkg file, start Onyx and press the 'Automation' button. I select all points except the 'Display of folder content' marker. Run it and reboot. My system and the one of a friend were running much smoother anfter using Onyx.

Yes i have run onyx since i got it installed - and use it almost everytime i turn on the PC, thank you though.

Yes. Posted a few times about it on page 17. Haven't found a solution, but have since reinstalled and not installed the system update. Itunes works perfectly with virgin install (but not update).Did you find a solution? I still haven't.

If i find a solution i will post here and let you know man.

Yes it should. Use Zaphys AMD Release, found on various torrent sites. Putting Leopard on the same drive as your Vista Installation is very risky, due to possible data loss or new master boot records. Make sure to backup your data! Youre Nvidia 7000 is likely not to work until rev.2.Advise: IF you are new to this, start off with Tiger (OSX ver 10.4.9/10).Greetz Jens
Can i install nforce 4 drivers at installation terminal? Every tutorial i see teaches how to do it when your logged in mac...
Check out the wiki on how to inject kexts. you probably wont be able to inject drivers during installation terminal, how would get the files to be recognized? You might wanna use Transmac to insert the files into the initial iso.If it is the network card: Disable it in your BIOS! What are your system specs again?Greetz Jens

Thank's for the tips but i'm asking exactly the opposit of this. I don't want to install tiger, if I wanted that I would not download zeph's release. I want a plain Leopard Install, don't want to download 6 Gbs of install discs (leo and Tiger). I'm asking if I can install drivers at the terminal, if it's not possible and the only way is to install tiger, ok, just confirm that. I just can't believe that I'm just a few screens away from getting it done and I'll have to install tiger :D

Can anybody give another tip?

Zephyroth, I used the newest AppleNForceATA, the System is now booting into installer. The installation is starting. 3 minutes before end the installation crashed with a crashreport of ifcstart. I read you had this problem also. Is this solved in rev. 2 and is it possible to test the rev. 2 Beta on my system ?

iATKOS is in the same developmental stage as Zephs release, albeit they have a larger staff I think.

I have very similar specs as you. Have you tried booting with -v, and see if you get any errors? If you have an ATI card, there might be problems.

waaw...the speed of the internet ;) Shadezero...I forgot to write down that my card is Saffire Ati x1650 pro 265mb....I tryed all sorts of combinations(-v,-x,-system=x86pc, etc) and I think that I do get some error messages, but Im new to Macs and I realy dont have any clue what the message means :D .. Is there a kind of special string that I have to look for or even add after the F8 boot?tanx in advance......fast report on the Iatnos v 1.0 relese....I get stuck in a loop on startup, so nothig happens :( ...I gues It wont work for me :dev:...emir

Hello.

This is what I get:

-cs_invalid_page: p=41[configd] clearing CD valid

-nDDS responder sandbox_init error

-localhost mDNSResponder[48]: nDNSDynamicStoreSetConfig MACH comunnication failed (ipc/send) invalid destination

After that it boots in installatin window.

I hope I wrote down everything correctly cuz the boot is preety fast :(

I forgot to write down that on Zephs relese installation I get stuck after Bios boot at Verifying DMI pool data...
