Fourth Times a Charm!

the previous times i formated the drive i just would erase the Drive and then partition it using the GUID, and it seemed to work, but now when I tried the MBR option i get a nice green check mark saying installation was good.

After doing the fdisk -e thing yet again, it seems to now work.

Now Im getting the No Keyboard connected screen once I boot up.

besides buying the usb/ps2 connector as suggested, is there another way to get around this?

I have the Xpress 200M and I used the file from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=35345

It allows for my resolution to be 1280 x 800 @ 60 Hz

Zephiroth I have tried some tricks, like editing the info.plist in geforce.kext and adding deviceid (0x061110de), running again Marvin's Utility and patching all the cpuid left, but nothing changed, everithing works, but still no QE/CI, maybe in the final version of 10.5.2 it will work better.

I've been "playing around" with this 10.5.1 install over the Holidays. I've tried it on a few different AMD motherboards & CPU's. The best, most stable install so far is on this hardware:

Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-RH motherboard:

socket 754 / GeForce 6100/410 / Turion64 ML40

VIA VT 6307 IEEE1394 controller - works

Realtek 8201 10/100 LAN PHY chip - NO JOY, disabled in BIOS

Realtek ALC850 Audio Codec - working natively

PATA HD and DVD burner

USB - all work

After the initial install, I applied NVInject 1.15 and the onboard 6100 works well as does a 7600GS PCIe card I'm now using.

I was able to install the 10.5.1 AMD Update which seemed to enable the enhanced graphics features (QE/CI) for the 7600GS.

iDVD works really well.

For LAN, I added a cheap Airlink101 PCI gigabit ethernet card - it has the realtek RTL8169 (I'm doing this from memory, I think that's it...) and once I installed it and booted up, I immediately had Internet.

We installed Garage Band 08 and it's working, but that (or the 10.5.1 AMD update) broke iTunes. It won't launch now. EDIT: Ran Marvin's AMD Utility and everything works now...

All in all, it works pretty well. I don't have any problems with Safari or the network card. GB runs really well, and that's what my son is interested in anyway (he can't afford a Mac - I did this all using parts I had lying around...). I'm a PC builder from way-back and I've never had or used a Mac. This is definately an experience. This thread has been a world of help!

Thanks to all! We'll stick around - help if we can...

i managed to install that but when i choose any resolution bigger than 1027*768 it goes black , my monitor says resolution unsuported pls change to 1280*1024 any idea whats the problem? (my monitor doesn't have an integrated resolution menu)

Ok im getting somewhere ive got osx.5 to boot (only in safe mode though) it is very usable not slow. I have fixed the problem with it restarting when you go to about this mac. Is there a way of getting the nforce 4 onboard LAN to work? and how can i fix it so that i dont need to start in safe mode?

Sorry for the dumb question guys, but this file that i just downloaded has about 71 different .rar files. How am I supposed to do this? Should I extract them all? I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks.

You should be able to open the first part with WinRar, and then drag and drop the .iso to a folder.

how did you fix problem with leopard install where choose "dont transfer data"?

Sorry, but can you just explain what you mean by that? the compressed file, the first one, is only about 48 mbs. If you don't mind being a little bit more specific id appreciate it. thanks

Yes, it is only 48 MB.

However, if you open it, then what you see inside of WinRar is an .iso file, which has a '->' next to it.

That means if you unpack the iso that is inside, it will automatically look for the other parts, hence it will use all the other parts to unpack the iso file.

Greetings

Open com.apple.Boot.plist a line

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1280x1024x32</string> Or which ever resolution you want.
