psychedelikz
The install worked. The booting worked (I have to use -x), but the trouble is, as many have mentioned before, the "recognizing the keyboard" and "transfering data" portion. The OS recognizes my keyboard, but then it asks if I want to transfer information from another Mac, of course I would select the last option, and it would load for a few minutes--only to return to the starting screen, asking again to recognize the keyboard. Why? How can this be circumvented? How can it be fixed? I have seen the same questions asked, but have yet to see a response--any luck yet? My keyboard is a Saitek Eclipse, USB. moto211
@psychedelikz: you need to have a working tiger install that you can import you user information from. here's how i did it: 1. i partitioned my hard drive leaving a 6 gig partition at the end for a tiger install. 2. i installed jas 10.4.8 to the 6 gig partition and did the user configuration. 3. i installed leopard to the larger partition and imported the user information from tiger. 4. then, once leopard was booting properly, i deleted the tiger partition and enlarged the leopard partition. me_ankit
Hello Zephyroth, The iTunes widget in dashboard isn't working properly. Is this a problem in this release or in Leopard itself. P.S. Can you add the Via Rhine Kext by pinxue in your next release?? persuasive
Finally, I downloaded Zephyroth's DVD. This is not first time, when I tried it on my first DVD which is "10.4.10 AMD VM", the same happened. The thing is, I cannot erase my SATA disk. I can select my drive and go through the options, but when I try to format (Mac OS X Journaled) and mount it, it fails with an error message. Again, I can see the partitions and other NTFS partitions are mounted, which I can see it on "Select Destination" tab. But whenever I try to format free space with Disk Utility, no luck. Even I tried Disk part from Vista (Which is on first partition and my primary, active), still the same, cannot mount my disk. Please help with step by step instructions as I am a total newb here and thanks in advance. Hackintosh2
Hey Zephyroth, everything works perfectly for me now, except for one little thing. When I'm downloading files, so that I'm using high bandwith, the system will freeze and I have to force a reboot. It's probably because of the nForce 4 Chipset. I have also tried different forcedeth Drivers, but they don't fix the problem. I changed from DHCP to Manual, but that didn't fix the problem either. What would you suggest? Thanks. BlueAvenue
Downloaded iLife 08 from Pi***e B*y and installed on my Tiger 10.4.9. All five programs work fine. Then i installed it on my Leopard 10.5.1. iDVD, iPhoto, and iWeb all work but iMovie and GarageBand do not. No big deal because i am only interested in using iDVD so i just uninstalled the other four. arctic-k20
@ Hackintosh2 use a different network port if you have a second one on your motherboard - your download lockups will go away - i had the same problem and switched to my marvell port and all my lockup issues have left!! i also deleted the forcedeth kext file as well! NUCLEaR
i have read through most of this thread, and I have seen that most people got their install working with their SATA. I did notice that this release includes medevil's nForce kext. The kext does detect my drive in Tiger install DVDs, and it allows installations on them. Although on this release, it lists my SATA as a read-only drive, and it only detects my windows partition in Disk Utility. I have tried a already partitioned hfs+, a FAT, NTFS, and the "id=af" diskpart method. None of them are detected in disk utility. I have an nForce 430 Mobo, with a 250GB Seagate Barracuda SATA drive, and 2 DVD +- R/RW SATA drives. ~NUCLEaR Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/31/#findComment-539532 Share on other sites

digable
Owners of SB200, SB300, SB400 and SB600 southbridge Try this and tell me if it works for you. Maybe you will need to add you device and vendor id in Info.plist. I can confirm that the SB600 patch restores ide performance and brings up my SATA drives on my Albatron KI690-AM2 (AMD 690g chipset). It would be great if this could be patched into the installer as currently an install takes about 4 hours (it looks like disk transfer speeds are at best 1MB/s without the patch). Also, does anyone have any hints on getting the integrated ATI x1250 running (even just resolution switching)? Poochie
Hi all, I'm on a DFI SLI DR (NF4 SLI) AMD system. 10.5.1 works flawlessly, way better than the 10.4.8 and .9 that I had the chance to try. Issues I don't know if happen to you guys: - Opening the "about this mac" will cause the windowserver to crash and restart - Ever since I started testing OSX86, I never managed to get the computer to actually reboot. In Tiger it used to shut down properly, now I even lost this feature. In Tiger I always had to replug my USB devices or they would not be detected and this is totally unnecessary now. Anyone else with a NF4 board and problems with shutdowns/reboots (I won't even talk about sleep :-) ) Update: - iPhoto crashes due to video driver problems (8800 320MB) when magnifying a photo or starting a slideshow. This didn't happen in Tiger and system-level screensaver slideshows work without a hitch! -> Update #2: iPhoto issues fixed via Quicktime component (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=72693&hl post #4, marvin's utility can help too) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/31/#findComment-539747 Share on other sites

lucajdvr
Hi, I have modified the DVD with a kernel with support for AMD/SSE2, doing this the boot process go on till a kernel panic from the AppleACPIThermal extension, so I removed that and now I can start the installer program. But now the installer stops at a certain point during the installation, I think that this is caused by the removal of the extension. How can I resolve this problem? I already tried to copy the extension back after booting remounting in write mode the root fs (mount -uw /), but it tells me that the file system is read only. Thanks. EDIT: I'm looking for an installation log to have more information about the error, but I didn't found anything. Do you now if and where the installer sava a log? Anyone else with a NF4 board and problems with shutdowns/reboots (I won't even talk about sleep :-) ) Yes, having same problems here with a NF4 mobo. No solution yet. Restart, Shutdown and Sleep definitely does not work. I posted a thread in Netkas forum, but no answer yet EDIT: Shutdown works but I have to wait about 30 secs. -> Update #2: iPhoto issues fixed via Quicktime component (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=72693&hl post #4, marvin's utility can help too) I think I've tryied both methods explained in that thread, but I'm still having crashes with QuickTime. When I run Marvin's utility, it doesn't find any cpuid binary to patch. And for the QuickTime component, I just copy the file replacing the existing, but I don't know if any extra operation is required for update it (deleting QT framework cache? chown/chmod it?). EDIT: Woooohooo!! I've applied Marvin's utility and now ALL of my problems gone. QuickTime works like a charm!!. chicagofilms
When I boot off the DVD, I can only get to" Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Fri Nov 16 14:50:43 SCT 2007; made by ToH:znu-1228.0.2~1/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386" I've tried all the swtches & it still just gets stuck at that point. Could it be a bad burn? I booted into Tiger and it took about 5 minutes before the disc contents could be read. I'm going to try burning again, but just wondering if anyone else is stuck at this point.
