  1. So those fixes are not included in your default F11b AML? I'm updating the rig with a Q8400+9500GT and casing it, I'll try then. VoodooMonitor is only used to check the current clock and the Cpu core temperature, not for speedstepping (for the moment). OCing is really easy, but I suggest using windows for this (64 bit to test the system and be 100% sure it's rock solid). First of all if you want a quick result you don't need to mind about ram timings, you can even keep the default ones, what matters is keeping the memory freq (via the divider) in a range you know it's stable (like not over ddr2 800 which actually means 200 MHz) and upping the FSB until you see that the cpu is not stable anymore. Even on stock cooling as long as you don't change voltages (or don't change them much) the temperature increase will vary depending on the clocks, but will never be dangerous at all as the cpus fry at 95+ °C and you'll try never to push them over 75°C during the heaviest workload (which is known to be the Linx [Linpack] test @ 64 bits). You can consider yourself stable when you pass at least 30 linx tests with as much ram as possible using 64 bits and then just lower a few FSB notches just in case and then do heavy testing with whatever you want and as long as you want, 99% of the time that will just do and the nice part is that if it's stable at load speedstep won't get proportionally more instable than that, so you're usually safe.
  2. Probably something happened in a freeze while testing http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?tnwznjymwmy I still didn't look into it, I'll try soon, I'm in bed with flu -> UPDATE: I get the same errors I posted the first time, so I won't edit the kext, as far as I know the sound is perfectly working! PS: even though I'm using the same Extra folder ad before, this time I cannot (dunno if it may be going from F10 to F11b BIOS) wake from sleep via USB. It used to work via keyboard only (Apple old USB keyboard) and now it won't work at all. My other G31M-ES2L works like a charm with the same mouse and keyboard! Not a big deal but I cannot understand why.. my /E/E folder is like this (10.6.2): drwxr-xr-x 10 root wheel 340 Nov 14 19:16 . drwxr-xr-x 10 root wheel 340 Nov 14 22:14 .. drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 Oct 1 04:31 CPUInjector.kext drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 Jul 29 18:31 LegacyHDA.kext drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 Aug 16 20:10 NullCPUPowerManagement.kext drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 Aug 18 19:45 OpenHaltRestart.kext drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 Aug 20 09:08 PlatformUUID.kext drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 Nov 8 04:44 SleepEnabler.kext drwxr-xr-x@ 3 root wheel 102 Sep 23 19:37 VoodooMonitor.kext drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Sep 12 12:09 fakesmc.kext PS: slightly offtopic: @blackosx why don't you OC you cpu a little bit? I think it's one of the main benefits of having a hackintosh! My ultracheap E3200 with single-channel DDR2 gives me 4760 points in 32bit Geekbench plus this Gigabyte boards have some nice OC features even on a 40 € board like the other one I got..consider that I got from 2.4 to 3.5 GHz rock solid using what the board recognizes as normal voltage (even though I wouldn't consider 1.28V the default VId for this CPU ihih)!
  3. Could someone test this? I noticed that every time I start IORegistryExplorer 2.1 (default 10.6.0 shipping version from my MacBook Pro) followed by iTunes, I either lose my USB ports (no mouse and keyboard, but the system works) or get iTunes frozen plus if I try to reboot it will hang before turning off the display (I seel the purple space login wallpaper). Issue 2: trying the fix in LegacyHDA will get me no sound at all (I use the posted DSDT + LegacyHDA.kext to get audio) but my log may have some problems (this is with audio working without the 12th november fix): 14/11/09 5:22:16 PM loginwindow[28] Login Window - Returned from Security Agent 14/11/09 5:22:16 PM loginwindow[28] USER_PROCESS: 28 console 14/11/09 5:22:16 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[93] (com.apple.ReportCrash) Falling back to default Mach exception handler. 4. Small ethernet problem: the first time I tried to use the Ethernet link intensively (I got gigabit at home) I noticed that it was configured for auto negotiation but it was connected at 10Mbps! Forcing it to 1000 resulted in an impossibility to establish e valid link, at 100 it worked but the actual throughput was still 10 MBits/s. After a reboot the network prefpane reports as if I had left it configured at 1000 and now it actually seems to work at actual gigabit speeds (40+MB/s).. don't know if I'm the only one who suffered this issue. I'm testing 6 GB of ram and it's working ok (it will get 8 GB at the end of the setting up).
  5. I made that one myself from the Snow DVD, but I liked the idea of using that one so that I can make every hackintosh using the same key with the addons put in a folder can you update us on the your Speedstep via DSDT status? I tried VoodooPower and VoodooPowerMini but doing a simpole Peacekeeper browser benchmark will show that in exchange for decreased voltages when in idle or mid-load you loose a lot of performance, that shouldn't happen almost at all! :-S
  6. Uhm, it looks like it was a Chamleon/PC EFI issue, messing around installing them gave me a GraphicsEnabler perfectly working (I used my myHack USB bootable key to install leopard and the bootloaders). Thanks for the support, so far everything's working fine!
  7. Hallo, I have the same problem with a 8400GS 256MB. I dunno why but it worked with the GraphicsEnabler=y on a G31M-ES2L, but here I cannot make it work the same way and not even via EFI String. For comparison I had the same problem on my rig's DFI X38 T2R and a 8800 GTS 512 but the EFI String method (under 10.6.0) worked like a charm.. is it normal that the same video works via Chameleon on a mobo and not another? PS: sorry but even from the your DSDT thread I cannot understand which is the suggested guide to add the videocard support via DSDT.

    My Kalyway 10.5.2 post-install issues

Update2: Removed both Parallels and VMWare, still KP after sleep. disabling the JMicron EIDE Controller (the system is installed on the ICH9R), the network card, limiting the ram to 3.5 GB... didn't change a thing. With no emulation programs I just need to try using Remote Desktop Connection to see it become stuck and then KP. The Conosle.app didn't enlighten me in any way... Anyone suffering the same issues?
  9. Wondering who has the same issues and who got to fix them here they are: - After waking from sleep (VanillaKernel, KabylKernel, SpeedstepKernel won't wake correctly) all my USB devices get disconnected and reconnected (which doesn't happen on my PowerBook) so every external hard drive gets a "Unsafe Device Removal" notification. - After waking from sleep I get random Kernel panics if I start playing with Parallels. I have not suffered other types of KPs after sleep without using this application (maybe using MS Remote Desktop but Parallels was running in background)... I'll try VMWare Fusion in a few days to check what happens. - What about speedstep? I usually read that it's not working (in Vanilla kernel) but does that apply to notebooks only? I manually checked the voltage of my processor and it undervolts when in Idle just like in windows, meaning that speedstep is actually working... is there an application to monitor the actual cpu clock? I tried CPU-Z in Parallels but It always reported the full speed (my system would just crash if working full speed while undervolted). Setup: DFI X38 T2R Board 4 GB RAM E8400 8800 GTS 512 MB EDIT: Using VMWare fusion I get the same issues, but I cannot see any panic.log files!
  10. Hallo To my very surprise, I cloned my installation from an ATA HD to a SATA HD (same model, just a 2MB cached Maxtor ATA133 drive replaced by a 8MB SATA2 Maxtor Drive [80 GB]) and those problems are simply gone! Now I can transfer from the A64's HD to my hackintosh HD at an average of 20 MB/s! Wonderful!!! I'll complete the other tests as soon as I have some spare time! Transferring from the Powerbook is still painfully slow, but from my actual XP file server it works like a charm... how weird! By the way I manually made those tests simply transferring times and measuring the time taken or monitoring the transfer graphs. It is usually between the actual average and the highest sustained transfer speed.
  11. I think I'm using exactly that release by Zepiroth! It's weird I cannot find much feedback, the board I'm using was one of the most popular NF4 ones! Anyway as long as my USB audio card works it's no big deal, I occasionally use USB drives and I user Firewire whenever I can. It's just sluggishly slow when using memory cards but they're not so speedy even in USB2 Could you post your Samba experience in my other post? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=79731 Thanks!
  12. Hi all! I recently tested samba performance across every combination of OSs I got at home having 3 computers: a PowerBook G4 with Leopard, a A64 X2 Server running XP and my Opteron running XP/Vista/Leopard. What I noticed is that my OSX86 box is quite sluggish in Samba performance, while downloading mostly. The nForce integrated Gigabit wasn't tested because it usually freezes the system and I don't remember it being any faster! I would think the performance is too slow to be OSX's fault, but the driver showed it can work faster than it does on some combinations... so I don't know what is the actual problem. What speeds are you guys getting? Here I attach my picture for reference... post your comments if you wish :-)
  13. Hallo! No luck with the USB driver, it always gives the same error looking in Console.app! I didn't notice the sloppy problem since the last usage of Marvin's Utility, I appliend the kernel flag anyway
  14. poochies-acpi:Extensions poochie$ sudo kextload -t PCGenUSBEHCI.kext kextload: extension PCGenUSBEHCI.kext appears to be loadable kextload: kmod_control/start failed for com.orByte.driver.PCGenUSBEHCI; destroying kmod kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension PCGenUSBEHCI.kext link/load failed for extension PCGenUSBEHCI.kext Something's wrong :-s Another thing I'd like to compare with you as we have similar HW: leaving it on for a few hours I notice that the GUI gets more and more laggy. It's like there is a drop in framerate like in a game... I see the mouse cursor making small jumps instead of moving smoothly, running an animated screensaver will result in a visible low framerate... this doesn't happen after a fresh boot, restarting the windowmanager will resolve nothing! Any hints? Thanks again
  15. Could you please upload the kext you are using? Thanks (are you using PS2 or USB Mouse/Keyboard? I need both to be emulated before any OS steps in, maybe that could be a problem.
