Can hackintosh users simply run update? Or does it only work for mac hardware?

Well, if you have EFI. I've heard that it works on traditional hackintoshes, but I used EFI. BTW you should get efi from here:

netkas.freeflux.net

Provides many advantages...

If you have pc_efi installed and up and running fine on your hackbox then yes update works just fine in my case tho because i have a rev 1.0 asus p5ld2 -vm dh motherboard and pentium D i hade to just put back the patched kernel 9.1.0 everything else apart from smbios is apple genuine

Same here. The update went flawlessly and after I patched the kernel it booted again :)

About this Mac now says 10.5.1 / 9B18

Right behind you Le Chuck,

I also replaced the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext to get resolution change back for me GMA950

(CI & QE was still supported after the update only no resolution change)
