I probably know why AGPGart 2.1 works in Tiger but doesn't work in Leo. It is based on IOPCIFamily 2.0 for Tiger while in Leo v2.4 which is differ. Now we use v2.4.2 both in Tiger and in Leo.

I just got an idea, what if I installed Tiger where my AGPGart actually worked, and gave you the following:

 

1. dmesg and ioreg from Tiger using joblo AGPGart 2.1

2. dmesg and ioreg from Tiger using Slice AGPGart 2.6.2

3. dmesg and ioreg from Leopard using joblo AGPGart 2.1

4. dmesg and ioreg from Leopard using Slice AGPGart 2.6.2

 

Do you think it would help?

I should be very grateful. I think you already try to compile joblo 2.1z to Leo?

And you say nothing about deviceNum=0.

In all variants, if you can boot with GA, test XBench or better GioFX OpenMark.

I am not successful yet but I have a problem with RadeonIGP 5835.

I need to know what is wrong AGP or Radeon?

So, please, test this version of AGPGart as detailed as you can.

KP with this AGPGart version, in module com.apple.GeForce (4.5.2), even if I run in single mode and manually launch sh /etc/rc

So I can't provide you with full debug info.

In attachment dmesg before sh etc/rc, but no news there.

Let me know if I can send you something else

 

EDIT: I add zipped ioreg, in the doubt you might find it useful.

1st All links & instruction in topic.

The best way to get dmesg and ioreg, even if you can't boot is follow

boot with -v -s

/sbin/fsck -fy

/sbin/mount -uw /

dmesg >dmesgNNN1.txt where NNN - some information to differ one file from other.

sh /etc/rc

wait a minute then type ctrl-c

dmesg >dmesgNNN2.txt

ioreg -l -x -w 2048 >ioregNNN.txt

If you can boot so can type the same dmesg and ioreg coomands in terminal after sudo -s

I found an old error for your chipset :D

		if ((pciread16(hostSpace,0) == 0x1106) && (pciread16(via,34) != 0))
	{
		pciwrite32(via, AGP3_VIA_ATTBASE, gattPhys << 12);

This value 34 is decimal but you need Hexadecimal 0x34 :D

I noticed that "asked" is always = 20000000, while aperlength changes if I change AGP aperture in BIOS.

Is it correct?

You can correct dependencies in info.plist to real versions or as in good kexts.

Yes, AGPGart must correct wrong aperlength asked by driver.

Apple publish new sources of IOPCIFamily driver 103.1 with only one correction

Were

	_messagedInterruptsAllocator = IORangeAllocator::withRange(0, 0, IORangeAllocator::kLocking);

Now

	_messagedInterruptsAllocator = IORangeAllocator::withRange(0, 0, 4, IORangeAllocator::kLocking);

Only one digit but it might be catastrofic :(

Very interesting to try in Tiger, AGP work full speed with no slow downs whatsoever, xbenches proves that AGP works. Im sending dmesg, ioreg and xbench for your agp, joblos version and without agp. It should be an interesting discussion!

Im uploading the same for Leopard except for the xbench tests which only run without agp since OpengGL crashes with any AGPGart.

 

I dont know about the performace issues xbench can give slightly different scores from time to time so it could be random, but then again it doesn't have to be. Atleast we can see AGP is working just compare the UI result!

 

EDIT: I'm using IOPCIFamily 2.2 in Tiger, it's the standard that comes with 10.4.10 (no modifications by you or chun-nan).

EDIT2: I see your comparing your AGPGart vs. Joblos on x86dev.org, i'm going to try out 0x10005 and see what it gives :blink: but right now I must do some other things. I'm setting the IOAGPFlags 0xffffffff to enable all AGP features in your AGPGart.

Did it freeze? Do you think it actually gets into the desktop and is working as it should but without displaying a picture? Could you remote login to it from your other computer? If you have two apple computers you should be able to share desktop and remote administrate your computer (if it indeed is working). Or you could try VLC to remote control your computer.

 

Remote administration can be enabled from preferences -> sharing

 

What happens with AGPGart 2.63?

im running ATI X1600 it may not give the same result. I use Leopard as far as i know u didnt get it to work on leo. Weirdly u have posted UI=160 without AGP on Leopard meanwhile u do 60 on Tiger....

My UI score is 40 using my X1600 in PCI mode :(

 

EDIT ive justed tested IOPCIFAMILY 2.4.3 (leo version??????) and AGPGART 2.6.3 with my X1600 i get a weird flashy and goes trough GUI but exact same result in XBENCH wtf?

I can use either joblo 2.1 or Slice 2.6.3 and they both work in Tiger. I have QuartzGL enabled in Leopard perhaps it accelerates UI Performance? Or perhaps its just that Leopard has more optimized drivers. AGP has never worked in Leopard I have always had the same error message.

BTw can u edit ur signature or post your whole config : Mobo, chipset, videocard etc, and do u have QE/CI with AGP working ? which version of tiger do u use?

I'm using IOPCIFamily 2.2 (not modified by anyone) and AGPGart 2.63, AGPGart 2.1 by joblo works as well.

 

GFX and motherboard:

Geforce 6800 LE 128 mb

MSI NEO2 VIA K8T800 PRO

 

btw, xbench isn't very reliable it gives me 300 in UI one time and 337 the next. Take it with a grain of salt, but ofcourse if your UI is 40 than there is something wrong.
