Whenever I place anything in the second 2 memory slots, it won't get past POST and beeps that there's no memory.

Anything at all, including 1gb DIMMs? Sounds like a bad motherboard to me.

I'm having a different issue. I installed with AHCI turned off, now when I turn it on I can't boot.

This is a GREAT board.

I just have to warn you that there are many reports of it killing memory in slot 3 when all 4 slots are populated. This was the ONLY thing that kept be from getting it and going with the board I have now (although, it is still not fully supported).

I think you either have a bad board or incompatible memory. I have 3 BA2 boards, all with 4gb of memory. One of them has two 2gb chips and the other two have four 1gb chips. I've never seen any problems in OSX86. However, windows xp and vista in 32bit mode will only show 3+gb, but that's because of the OS limitation. I've never installed 64bit windows on my systems to test that out.

I'm leaning toward bad board since the same memory works fine in the lower 2 sockets. Don't matter what I put in the lower 2 sockets - it gets recognized, but add two more to the upper 2 and boom - board beeps "no memory". I have 4 gig of matched memory, but can only use 2...

I guess it's time to buy a new board.

Anybody got a link to Taruga 1.16? Like the rest of you, I can't get 1.17 to patch the sound correctly on my new BadAxe 2 setup.

Searched around and couldn't find any links to 1.16, which is what us BadAxe 2 owners have to use...

Nevermind, found it in this post here.

I am going to write out a basic guide for doing a ToH install on a Bad Axe 2 and Q6600 processor over the weekend for anyone who's interested.

I am planning to build my second hackintosh using Bad Axe 2 next week. Please write it up asap. I am planning to go for E6600.

Thanks

Thank you.

Every guide makes some assumptions about what the user understands (i.e. what needs explanation...and what doesn't). IMVHO the key steps to explain are (1) which kexts (etc) to use (name of file, link to forum or other, etc), (2) which image (no source, of course, but the full name helps a search, and (3) most importantly, the step-by-step.

Remember, most of us who have never used OSX don't know /where/ to even find the command line (like Windows, I assume, you have to know the keyboard shortcut, or where in the menus to find it).

I am very keen on following your guide.

Hi,

I´ve sucessfully installed ToH Leopard but i don´t see my drives connected at the Marvell 88SE6145 SATA controller. I´ve configured all drives in BIOS as AHCI. Under Tiger everything went fine. My detected drives are also orange, like external drives. Anyone an idea?

Just wanted to pop in here and let people know that my guide which is here has been used by several BX2 users - Weaksauce12, Lyrical43 and a few others with success from ground up to desktop running pc_efi and the vanilla kernel.

The only issue seems to be with sound, which is fixed with either Tarugas 1.16 or 1.17 patch (AppleHDA.kext)

There must be a different sound chip on the various versions of this board, other than that, Weaksauce12 has a q6600 and 8 gig of ram on his, I helped him get up and running yesterday.

Onetrack has been immensely helpful. I will be releasing a Bad Axe 2-specific guide once I get Time Machine and Sound working. Everything else is great. I'm testing out a few different video cards for my tutorial as well. Stay tuned!

Edit: I also successfully overclocked my system to 3ghz on air, boosted my Xbench almost 30 points :(
