Killer Loop
Nope. Its's UNI I believe, and according to what it says "including updated ATI and NVIDIA graphics drivers", my worries might just have to end. It should be uni, since this is what runs on the new Intel Macs, and Apple did say they would release all Mac OS X updates in UNI mode. So i'm downloading rightnow, and hopping for something good to happen. Bye Bye Windows? suleiman
sorry to bust your bubble guys...but I think with the new update usually comes a new kernel. Which means until Maxxuss comes along with another nifty little patch, we're all dead in the water as far as updates go. Unibin or no unibin. domino
Here are the content to the new kexts. I'm using the ESPN and Calendar widgets. Both are great! I'm so tempted to try to load the new ATI kext. However from the track records from 1099 to 1111, we had to egt a new kernel patch frommaxxuss. But i'm really wondering if it applies with 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 kexts. Killer Loop
Yeap, yes it is. I just came back and it's all PPC. Until someone gets one of those new macs and copies the stuff off of that, we're stuck. Thinking in retrospective, It would be imprudent of Apple to release Intel update of OS X at this point. P.S. I'd like to get those new nvidia drivers. But I'm betting their PPC. Any other speculation? Which means until Maxxuss comes along with another nifty little patch, we're all dead in the water as far as updates go. Unibin or no unibin. Kernel is not the problem, at least for SSE3 users, but if it contains a new Rosetta or TPM check even SSE3 users are doomed. Anyway is a PPC only update. f540xs
I just realized that there were two postings. I guessed the link before it was posted earlier, but now also listed is the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Combo update. Anyone know what combo means? It's twice as big as the previous... Could that mean twice compiled??? LET'S HOPE. Either way, we will still need to wait for Maxxuss - but at least this would minimize the wait time. I don't want to wait until next month Oh yeah, here's the link: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/mac...e1044combo.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6636-os-x-1044-posted-on-apple-site/#findComment-41085 Share on other sites
macgirl
My question is my the DTK why doesn't has 10.4.4 yet? DTK updates came from other channel than Software Update. Also maybe 10.4.4 are only for retail and not for DTK. I just realized that there were two postings. I guessed the link before it was posted earlier, but now also listed is the Mac OS X 10.4.4 Combo update. Anyone know what combo means? It's twice as big as the previous... Could that mean twice compiled??? Combo means it will work for 10.4.0, 10.4.1, 10.4.2 and 10.4.3, the other update only works for 10.4.3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6636-os-x-1044-posted-on-apple-site/#findComment-41086 Share on other sites
stealth
The combo update is to update from OS X 10.4, 10.4.1, 10.4.2, or 10.4.3, while the regular update is to update from OS X 10.4.3, so that's not it. edit: Ahh, I've been beaten. mindslip
Easy way to tell... /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ 10.4.4\ Update/MacOSXUpdate10.4.4.pkg/Contents/MacOSXUpdate10.4.4.dist has the content... function installationCheck() { // must not be Intel try { if(system.sysctl('hw.machine') == 'i386' || system.sysctl('hw.byteorder') == '1234') { my.result.type = 'Fatal'; my.result.message = system.localizedString('INCOMPATHW'); return(false); } } Although as mentioned, parts may be unibin. xiberia
if you think about it, the intelMacs don't need the 10.4.4. update, because they ship with 10.4.4 anyway. So 10.4.4. is just for PPC people. 10.4.5 will be a different matter entirely though Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6636-os-x-1044-posted-on-apple-site/#findComment-41242 Share on other sites
