montrey
are you running in achi mode?care to share bios settings? thanks for the heads up on the cd though, was about to waste some ratio... gracias Yes When I installed Leopard first time, installation takes me about 1 hour. I just finished installing Leo using ACHI mode and i must say in ACHI mode Leopard runs really fast also installation takes not so much time (about 12 minutes ) in bios i changed only ACHI and SATA native ports 0-3 to enabled Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62485-gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3/page/4/#findComment-500487 Share on other sites

Skitals
Is there no solution to get the 3rd and 4th sata port working? I have a GA-P35-DS3L, which only has the 4 ICH9 ports. The first two ports work great, but nothing from the other two. I just bought two more drives, and I really don't want to get a PCI-E raid card or something Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62485-gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3/page/4/#findComment-519821 Share on other sites

The first two ports work great, but nothing from the other two. I just bought two more drives, and I really don't want to get a PCI-E raid card or something Okay, well I think I found the reason the 3rd and 4th ports aren't working. In my bios, "SATA Port0-1 Native Mode" is enabled. If they are on the same controller, why can't I enable native mode for ports 2 and 3?! I could swear I've read other P35 boards control all 4 ports with this setting (SATA Port0-3). What can I do? I checked the mobo manual, and when native mode is disabled (as I assume is the only option for the 3rd and 4th ports), the drives operate in Legacy IDE mode. Are there any steps I can take to add support for this IDE mode? Do I need to add my sata controller dev id to the ide kexts, per chance? Any insight is appreciated! UPDATE: Well, I just went back in my bios and DISABLED Native Mode for Ports 0-1. My machine still boots, and the drives on ports 0 and 1 still work fine. Still nothing from ports 2 or 3. So I guess that rules out that theory. If ports 0-1 work with or without Native Mode, I guess it shouldnt make a difference I can't control it for ports 2-3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/62485-gigabyte-ga-p35-ds3/page/4/#findComment-519854 Share on other sites
weaksauce12
I am interested in this board for use with Leopard. So from what I've read in this thread: 1. Only 2 SATA ports work 2. The IDE port works if you use BrazilMac or do Skital's IDE hack 3. Ethernet needs a patch 4. Audio needs a patch Any other "gotchas" ? Also runs EFI 5.2 (after some little bit of fiddlin in unix lol) I used toh then updated to latest toh kernel. then efi then software update via apple menu to 10.5.1 LOVE IT !!! I have a xp drive that i just choose with the F12 method on startup. I dont have sound working but i havent tried. Want to hear from someone else what works for sound in 10.5.1 on the ds3L board. Latest versions of NVinject works 100% great on my 73000xl card. I know i'm a bit late in thread for this but anyway here is my XBENCH. Deft-Ru
Hi, I'm about to buy a new mainboard for my C2D 6600. I don't need SLI, so I decided to buy the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3, because on my current MSI board with Intel P965 I'm unable to install it :/ Does anyone here has this board (not the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P) and does it work fine with Sound, SATA etc.? I really hope so Ciao Nemo I have Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R (rev 1.1). Works nice! I am tryin' EFI 5.2 to work now. Haven't any benchmarks yet... So, later. oetzi
Please, can anyone help me in making tiger 10.4.11 to recognize all SATA ports instead of only 4? I'm actually running xxx 10.4.11 with vanilla kernel and efi8.0 on the hackintosh listed in my sign below. Everything works except the SATA ports. I'm hoping that I can get all the kext needed so I won't have problems with the installation =) Could you please upload the kexts/installers needed for this motherboard to work? Like the Ethernet, IDE, audio (if you found the solution) and anything else that you think is important. Since this motherboard is getting popular for hacks (super cheap!), it would be great if you can do this for all current/future users of this mobo. I have a 7300LE graphics card so the Nvinject you used will be helpful if you upload too =) Also, are there pointers we should consider before installing? Like bios settings (AHCI, Native ..blabla) .. a guide would also be great =) I think some steps for the DS3R wont work with the DS3L since they have 2 different southbridge chipsets. I think they have 2 different integrated audio as well (not sure though if DS3R has 889a and DS3L has 888) .. Thank you and Happy New year everyone!!!
