empreality
It's high noon, Apple and AT&T -- we really hate to break it to you, but the jig is up. Last night the impossible was made possible: right in front of our very eyes we witnessed a full SIM unlock of our iPhone with a small piece of software. It's all over, guys. Read on... Envying
Apple never loses in this case, actually it will help them boost their sales!!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61251-iphone-unlocked-att-loses-iphone/#findComment-434531 Share on other sites
Dwight F
Are there any money details on the deal between AT&T public? Does Apple get a cut of the monthly fee contracts? EFI
Sadly, you still wont be able to use the iPhone's web features here in Canada...becuase your online charges would be literally 5K a month if you were to "browse" in Safari....becuase of how crappy our data plans are. Imagine (at 25cents/kb) just loading up Apple's homepage on the iPhone. *shruggs*. Rogers...you best be coming to some type of a deal with Apple! Dwight F
Screw Rogers. http://flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=452679328&size=o EDIT: Although iPhones are GSM, right? Not sure Telus does GSM.....nope, neither them nor Bell. I guess that's why Rogers/Fido are sticking it to us. sandmanfvrga
Killer. Now if damn us cell companies would for the love of God settle on one way of doing signals, then this could go to verizon etc. Quick thought: do a prepaid T mobile card with SIDEKICK DATA PLAN ONLY and you should be using the iphone as a mobile data center with totally unlimited data for 99 cents a day. Kick ass. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61251-iphone-unlocked-att-loses-iphone/#findComment-434574 Share on other sites

Yeah, it's pretty depressing here. Telus is more cheaper on the west coast though..in BC than they are in say Toronto, or Montreal, and in central and eastern provinces, Rogers is the largest carrier (in all of Canada). It's ridiculous. They have been bringing out {censored} phones and are abusing their monopoly to an exorbant limit. The only reason why I'm still with them is becuase of their well priced (ironic, I know) family plans...which are OK for the most part. I hate everything else about them, and as a once Rogers loyal customer...I'm sure I am saying that without being alone. Geee, there is no good ones in canada, in Sat TV, Cable TV, Phone, Mobile Buznis! Colonel Ingus
ill stick with att. Not me! AT&T is probably the single worst company on this planet. It was the whole reason why a lot of people passed on the iPhone. Now maybe we can one too, but wouldn't there be a penalty to pay AT&T for cancelling? sandmanfvrga
The sidekick plan is unlimited text, email, im, web browsing, all data. iPhone unlimited is not unlimited text, just talked to my buddy at work who has an iPhone. He watches his text messages. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61251-iphone-unlocked-att-loses-iphone/#findComment-434616 Share on other sites

Don't quote me on that, but that's what the $$ ballpark is around for cancellation. sandmanfvrga
Yep, the fee is high. But some may do it to get freedom. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61251-iphone-unlocked-att-loses-iphone/#findComment-434618 Share on other sites
Colonel Ingus
Yeah I know of people who have paided the fee just to get away from AT&T, but I think I'll still hold off until at least the holiday season. Maybe other options will open up Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61251-iphone-unlocked-att-loses-iphone/#findComment-434630 Share on other sites
fordee
Ok.. Check this out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=230164884672 Current Bid for the 'World's second unlocked Iphone' is just over the 27.5 million $ mark. I watched it personally jump from $10M+ up to 27m+, only 6 days left in the auction, so hurry up! Attached link and non-photoshop'd screenshot. ------------------------ So.. I guess that would pay a lot of AT&T Bills.. but what would YOU buy if you had $27.5M to burn? Fordee. CLiDE FTW!!1
Yes, AT&T is garbage + tax... however, anyone performing an unlock on the iPhone to use another carrier voids their complimentary 2 year phone support and 1 year warranty. This means that if the iPhone was unresponsive (which seems to happen ALOT), phone support won't help you, nor would they take the phone in for repair unless you paid a $250 flat fee up front. Apple basically made it clear that it's an AT&T Apple iPhone. But heck, if you feel secure with your iPhone, do it, and stick it to the man. (And message me if you need any support for the iPhone, since I trouble shoot these things all day) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/61251-iphone-unlocked-att-loses-iphone/#findComment-437188 Share on other sites
