p3n5t3r
Not being here for quite a long time, I don't anymore know which is the perfect mobo for a hackintosh at the moment. It should have a wired network controller and a sound chip. Any suggestions? Dr. Hurt
Not being here for quite a long time, I don't anymore know which is the perfect mobo for a hackintosh at the moment. It should have a wired network controller and a sound chip. Any suggestions? Well, the perfect os x motherboard is extinct now (p5ld2-vm) which had everything working. Just get any motherboard with 945 or 965 chipset, having ALC882 to ALC888, and a realtek ethernet 8xxx. A cheap choice would be the gigabyte ga 945gcmx-s2 but it needs some minor patching (as all other motherboards). Marvell 8053 ethernet also works, but others need patching Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59899-best-motherboard-at-the-moment/#findComment-426172 Share on other sites
p3n5t3r
I was reading into the Asus P5K-e topic a bit, seems like a great choice if one is prepared to do some patching. Any better alternatives? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59899-best-motherboard-at-the-moment/#findComment-426178 Share on other sites

p3n5t3r
I see that this board is mATX. Does that mean that it won't fit into my Antech Sonata? Also doesn't that mean I need a special power connector an my PSU? hackintom
I see that this board is mATX. Does that mean that it won't fit into my Antech Sonata? Also doesn't that mean I need a special power connector an my PSU? Sure it will fit, it's smaller ! Your PSU will be fine. But don't buy a 945 chipset, it's too old and crappy... no offense for 945 users ;-) P35 is great, and cheap BTW Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59899-best-motherboard-at-the-moment/#findComment-426246 Share on other sites
DrSupachicken
Heya, I'm currently running my setup perfectly (it's listed in my sig) but I will be upgrading to a P35-DS3 doesn't have the HDA working yet, but it does have 2 channel. Stellair
Is there already a P35 chipset with everything working (incl sound)???? Not 2 channels but more otherwise I have to buy an external soundcard (usb or firewire) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59899-best-motherboard-at-the-moment/#findComment-426536 Share on other sites
GingerPrince
Hiya, My setup is in my sig and it works like a dream. Uphuck 1.4i r2 went straight on. I then updated to 10.4.10 with koolkal updater, again without any problems. Sound is stereo out only and it won't wake from sleep but apart from that, it runs like a champ. Runs all the apps I want (i've not had anything fail to work so far) and it's rock solid stable. Hirez
hmm, som ppl seem to do get the sleep function to work on the p5k-e, not a deal breaker, but still nice to know whether it works. Have a look for Asus P5LD2 VM DH. http://uk.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&...amp;modelmenu=1 The only thing you need to get it fully working is Tarugas sound package ALC882_AppleHDA_v0.4b.mpkg.zip http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=6168 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59899-best-motherboard-at-the-moment/#findComment-427371 Share on other sites
GingerPrince
Hirez - who have you seen getting the sleep working on the p5k-e? I've seen it working on the p5k deluxe but never on the -e. BebopBlues
I asked the same question about two months ago, and I went with the BadAxe2 (intel D975XBX2). I bought it a week ago along with an Intel Quad Core Q6600, 2GB DDR2, and a 7600GT 256M. I put everything together and installed Uphuck_10.4.9_v1.4i_r2. Everything worked except sound, but that easily fixed with Taruga's Patch. I think all the sound ports work although I haven't tested it. I only need stereo anyway. The only other patch needed was the AppleSMBIOS.kext 1.06 to fix the Adobe CS3 crashing problems. Overall, I'm happy with the BadAxe2. I spent only $1200 and got a kick@ss OSX system compare to a MacPro costing 3 times as much. Its been running solid so I'm not gonna update to 10.4.10 unless I feel adventurous. Thanks to all the folks that helped make building a hackintosh possible for average user like me. ovof
do you have sleep/wake function working with BadAxe2 ? I want an E6750, and i need this function, it's very important for me. I'd like to buy a Ga P35 S3L (new P35 from gygabyte, it's like DS3P but no firewire and ALC888) or a P5K -deluxe but it's not cheap... but i'm scared about sleeping function... Of course i've got a good sleep working GFX (see my sig) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/59899-best-motherboard-at-the-moment/#findComment-430062 Share on other sites
