Timyang
We all saw it coming, from Mac Rumors: http://www.macrumors.com/2007/04/12/mac-os...ard-seed-9a410/ "The most obvious visual change in the newest build is a shift away from "Brushed Metal" which Apple uses in many applications such as Safari and Finder." the screenshots are also here: http://flickr.com/photos/shrimpdesign/tags/leopard/ I know a lot of people hate brushed metal, but still: Rest in Peace, Brushed Metal, You will be missed. matt_olsen
I really liked the Brushed Metal. It was one of the reasons for me to love MacOS. RIP Brushed Metal. Soliber
Doesn't really matter, sooner or later some package will turn out to re-enable the brushed metal look Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/48312-mac-os-x-theme-change-in-leopard-seed-9a410/#findComment-346077 Share on other sites
U.C.
That looks kinda ok, nothing great. A lot like Uno. I was hoping for cooler, maybe a Black UI which looks Classy. But then again, I guess this will be the final UI as it matches the iPhone UI a lot. A Nonny Moose
System Preferences reminds me of the Metallifizer APE. Are you sure this isn't Photoshopped? Adrian Fogge
Positive. Photoshop won't even run on Leopard 9a410. Neither will InDesign for that matter. Timyang
It seems legit, as far as I can tell. Like many new switchers I find I still like brushed metal, and not a fan of the UNO grey smooth unified window at all. As long it's used properly, brushed metal brings contrast to the GUI. TvvqKMZ72bsklauw5
Darn, one of the "Eye Candy"s that pushed me into getting a Mac was that brushed metal theme. Oh well, it still looks nice the new skin. Adrian Fogge
Brushed Metal was nice several years ago when it was first announced, but now pretty much all of the Mac hardware is Plastic. Sure, you still have the Mac Pros and the Macbook Pros, but they are not "brushed metal", they are aluminum. Yes, I know that none of the Mac hardware ever had a "brushed metal" look to it, however it seems more likely that Apple would go with a window choice that seems more like their hardware rather than around that really cool looking idea that they have kept for the past few years. Plus, Brushed Metal really does not work well for a resolution independent UI. It is possible, but unlikely. Personally, I consider the information inside the window to be more important than the window itself. If the window decorations detract from using the application, then there is a problem. The OS should Enable the user to use applications. ~Adrian Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/48312-mac-os-x-theme-change-in-leopard-seed-9a410/#findComment-347084 Share on other sites
