guiyoforward
just speculation, but since apple hasn't released updated mac minis until now, it will probably only ship them with the updated graphics GMA 3000 with the forthcoming 10.5 Leopard OS, meaning that we won't be able to sue the drivers for 10.4.x - am I right? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47812-gma-3000-not-supported-in-104x/ Share on other sites
Dr. Hurt
I hope they add GMA x3000 support. Not only because of graphics, but because GMA X3000 means that they will use the new intel 965 chipset and so all new motherboards with 965 will finally be fully supported like intel 945. Dr. Hurt
They will eventually use either of them. They have to because the currrent motherboards that they use (945) only support 1066 FSB and so they will not be ble to put new generation of core 2 processsors in mac books and mac minis because the new generation will use 1333 FSB. They will have to use new motherboards which suppot 1333 FSB. Of course they will use the 965G motherboards to save cost of a different motherboard and an independant graphics card. We will probably see drivers for them in leopard. because that is roughly when the processors will be released. Dr. Hurt
Yes I agree that there is a greater chance of using the GMA 3000 for keeping the cost low, but who knows... These people are always full of surprises!! Nick - Everdreamer
I really don't think they are going back to ATI. ATI is part of AMD now. Either they stick to Intel GMA or give Nvidia a shot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47812-gma-3000-not-supported-in-104x/#findComment-342820 Share on other sites

jimbroad
I'm curious why you believe they'll go for the GMA3000 over the GMAX3000... from Intel's site: For consumers, the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3000 engine supported on Intel® G965 Express chipset has been optimized for enhanced 3D to allow for greater game compatibility and realism with new video and display features to deliver a theater-like entertainment experience through Intel® Clear Video Technology. For corporate users, Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 engine incorporated in Intel® Q965/Q963 Express chipsets continues to offer stability, ease of use, and lower power consumption, in a cost effective solution.
