idividebyzero
Im trying to figure out why Safari loads pages so slowly. For instance, if I type "google" in the google search thing in Safari it takes 5-6 seconds before it goes to the google page, in Windows it takes less than a second. Some websites load normally but by far the majority take several seconds before Safari actually makes it to the site and starts loading it. It has nothing to do specifically with Safari since Ive also tried FireFox and gotten exactly the same times. My actual download speeds are normal, its just going to a new page that takes forever to get started. How is everyone elses browsing experience? Im wondering if its an SSE2 issue since thats what I have, or maybe an issue with the ethernet controller. Prawker
Google loads just as fast in safari as it does in firefox for me, not even one second. idividebyzero
So its not an SSE2 issue, what kind of motherboard are you using? is it an nforce3? Im guessing its an issue with the cache... New webpages take a long time to show up (like this forum) but once there theres no waiting after clicking the links as long as the layout of the page doesnt drastically change. It sits at "Contacting www.website.com...." for a long time before loading. Vipersfate
I noticed that the sites are loading slower with OSx than with winblows. But my dl speeds are high, 900kb a second. I'm gonna try fasterfox and see what happens. For me it seems to take exactly the same amount of time for every website I try, always around 5 seconds before the page changes and starts loading the content. I pinged google and got a normal ping so I dont know what the deal is. Firefox didnt change a single thing for me. hecker
Try finding out if your MTU rate settings are too high. You can check this by pinging www.google.de and see if you have any package loss. hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44461-anyone-else-have-slow-webpage-loading/#findComment-319218 Share on other sites

idividebyzero
I have 1.5gbs of ram. I pinged google and it was normal, 59ms which is what I get in counter strike. Im wondering if its an issue with nforce3 ethernet. bigcletus
Just wanted to post my solution to this problem. My linksys router's config had a bad static dns address. Once I took it out, the slow-down problem was resolved. It was causing linux to hang and osx but not xp or vista for some weird reason. I am a happy camper now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44461-anyone-else-have-slow-webpage-loading/#findComment-340874 Share on other sites
Guyfromorem
i had the same problem. i was using 10.4.8 airport kexts. switch them to an earlier version. i found 10.4.5 kexts, swapped them out, repaired permissions, and it made my wifi superfast Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44461-anyone-else-have-slow-webpage-loading/#findComment-342954 Share on other sites
Rufus T. Firefly
I'm also having the same problem. Internet used to be very fast but now it takes a long time to load any damn thing. I went out and bought a D-Link 530T gigabit ethernet card so it should be fast but no did you solve this problem? and if so how?
