Hello to everybody

 

I have a laptop vaio fs315h and i'm having problems with my graphic card (geforce go 6400).

 

Some of you have the same card (at least pinc666 and zhta 1972) and you have it working. Don't you mind to post here all the steps to make it work, please? I tried almost everything but it's still not working.

 

 

I hope you can help me.

I've to do that in the repair session ( booting with the -s option ) ?

I've installed 10.4.8 like 5 times and I'm always getting this strance thing: (I get it on 10.4.9 too)

Till now, I have Ethernet fixed, I have sound on my headphone jack and internal speakers with Taruga's patcher and Bleutooth works out of the box.

 

Things I want to do:

- Make Titan/Natit to work (it gives me a black screen after reboot) MacVidia did work on 10.4.7 not tested on 10.4.8/9 yet, but they say it doesn't work

- create new linux dump to enable sound on docking station --> linux doesn't recognise my dock too :D

- fix movie problem

- try what they have as wireless driver until now

- try to make the webcam working (not priority, but it would be cool ;) )

 

 

I'll write down here how I managed the ethernet card to work (it's quite simple ;) )

 

 

EDIT: fixed the movie problem by removing these kext's: NVDANVxxHAL.kext and Geforce.kext

Hello, I m runnin 10.4.8 on a sony vaio sz2 and everything is working sound,keyboard,touchpad(2Fscroll njot really)CI/QE,frontrow,CPU temperature reduced....

exept the 3945 intel wifi card(i hope it will comming soon) and the brightness control of the screen .

 

the video card is a gma950 and i cant control the brigthness; i have tried lots of thing but i thing the screen isn't recognise or anything like that

 

the only thing i can say is that the brigtness is low during the boot and hight when the it finish to load thats why i really thing its possible to set the level of the light to have the same time on battery like in windows (5 hours)

 

do the other owner of a sz are able to change the brigthness.

yes i have tried it to but it's a fake , it doesn't control your real brightness , it just change value in the video card

and it doesn't do the thing i need: improve battery life

 

if any body have another idea ...

sure it's possible but how???

 

ANOTHER question is anybody able to use cputhrottle to contol the cpu speed and so consomation and temperature like vaio powermanagement in windows

i have tried i have only 2hour of battery with mac so i only use it when i'm plugged to AC and i use windows when i move the vaio but it should be very good to have the same battery lifetime....

Hi Macvaio, lucky you!!

 

I have a vaio laptop (fs315h) with jas 10.4.8. amd intel sse2 sse3 + macvidia beta2.

With this i can change the resolution of the display, i'm using the native 1280X800 but i can not have QE&CI. The Grahpic card is a Geforce Go 6400 with 128Mb.

 

Do you mind to explain us how you can do it? It'll be very nice from you.

1) View package contents of 10.4.3 AppleIntel8255.kext (see attachment)

 

2) Edit info.plist

you can skip this step as I already did it! unless you have another dev/ven id :wacko:

 

3) Import the kext to /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext content/plugins/ and replace the existing file. Authenticate with your password

 

4) Open Terminal and enter these commands:

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext

sudo kextload -v /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext

sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

 

5) Reboot

 

6) Go to config pannel and there you'll have to apply that a new nic is installed. From that point (and not before) you can use the build in Ethernet!

PS: found this fix somewhere on the forums between about 5 of the other fixes. This is the only one that worked for me, so I guess it should work for you too! (Verified on JaS 10.4.7/8/9)

I 'm sorry but i can't tell you hoz to get CI and QE on your vaio , on mine i have choise between too card and i use the integrated one (gma945) and it was native with this one , with the other one other users have ever tried and it doesn't work well with the nvidia , i dont know for your card sorry...

i have no QE/CI, actually, not any driver is working for me :P

 

too bad my model comes without the integrated card! otherwise I would not care that much about it :(

But hey, i'll be able to have QE/CI at some day! hopefully it's not to far away :P

You could try Taruga's patcher, it worked for me! you'll need the exact type of your audio card, and try search for it on the forums! I'm sure you'll get it to work :|

present situation point. vaio fe11s -

 

OS: 10.4.8 jas update

 

wireless - dont work

nvidia 7400 - drive macvidia 1.8.1 work

audio sigmatel - dont work i try tartuga patch but i need update new kernel, and if i update to new kernel the Nvidea dont work so... what a dilema

brightness - dont work any way to control that? it realy damage my eyes

powermanegement work only the power icons

keybord touchpad works

USB- Works

firewire- works

cdrom works

ethernet - works tks JeroenJ

usb adapter wireless - works wlan drive

 

 

if some one have news about how to fix please help me

it worked for me, so it should work for you too :P

 

I did not any research yet for the brightness, but as far as I know, I don't think it is possible without any modifications/apps

 

Taruga's patcher should work, but updating to the new kernel means you won't be able to use macvidia anymore (not fully). All drivers (Natit/Titan/NVidiaEFI/...) won't recognise the LCD anymore... until now there is no solution I guess... :D too bad! Macvidia does work on 10.4.8+ kernels but it doesn't give you any advantage (QE/CI not working, no resolution setting,...)

 

PS: The above mentionned video drivers DO work with an external screen connected (QE/CI enabled, resolution etc.)

VGN-A617B 17'' Pentium M 1.73 SSE2

 

OSX 10.4.8 Jas Intel SSE2/3 with ppf1.

Wireless Intel 2200 BG - Working with Iwi2200 driver

Ati x600 128mb - Working with Koberg patch 0.2 and Callisto 006 Full Qe/Ci/Q2D Extreme

Audio RTL 260 - Working Audio and Line Out , but Line IN not work

Brightness control - Don't Work , i can change in windows XP .

Brightness sensor - Don't Work

Power management - work only the power icons and battery time , but don't work monitor off or processor speed down.

Keyboard & Touchpad - Works well

USB - Works and USB 2.0 works well without Problems

Firewire - works

Combo DVD-RW DL - Works well with Patch Burn

Ethernet RTL8169- work with RealtekR1000 Driver

Card Reader - don't work

Multimedia Buttons - Don't Work

Just wanted to add that, on my VAIO VGN-SZ450N/C, I was able to replace the internal Mini PCI-Express Intel 3945 wireless card with an Atheros based card from a Thinkpad T60. After some kext editing, the Atheros card was recognized as a native AirPort Extreme.

 

So, I can safely say that on my laptop, Sony did NOT block an Atheros-based wireless chipset in the BIOS... I know that many companies, including Lenovo, Dell, and HP, do tend to block unsupported wireless chipsets in the BIOS.

just curious, what is the difference between MacVidia Beta 2 build 1 and Macvbidia 1.0.81 ? the last one is the newest, no ? I've tried it on 10.4.8/9 but it doesn't do quite a lot. It just recognises my card, that's all. On 10.4.7 (and before) I was able to change the resolution but no QE/CI

 

If you can tell me why I should try that one year old beta, I'll try it for you B)
