suleiman
Can someone on this forum please post the updated 915 kexts? KExt file needed are: Appleintel915.kext, appleintelintegratedgraphics.kext, appleintel915GA.plugin, and appleintel915GLDriver.bundle. The old kext's don't work with the 10.4.3 kernal. I'd be much obliged, thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3949-hacked-osx86-updated-to-1043/page/12/#findComment-26361 Share on other sites
Sudar
Thank you for the guide, johnniecarcinogen! After my DL completes I intend to give it a try with installation of those separate packages over 10.4.1 with pre-applied 10.4.3 update (on another partition or HD). Let's see.. newyork4me
So...I don't think my install is working right. Safari won't launch (well it does but freezes instantly) then nothing else seems to work. Def. a screwed up upgrade--anyone know how to fix/undo? Thanks P.S. When I go to "About this Mac" it still says 10.4.1 Thanks a bunch Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3949-hacked-osx86-updated-to-1043/page/12/#findComment-26502 Share on other sites
Swad
It's not a full upgrade, it just pulls in pieces from 10.4.3 to make 10.4.1 better . Ahhhh....that explains it... but, do you know why it would make safari freeze as soon as it starts to load a webpage? newyork4me
One more question: Is it possible to undo the upgrade? If so, where do you get the original files from? Thanks again! seebaru
After running the upgrade, the system now feels sluggish, and I was easily able to produce the weird Safari behavior shown in the attachment by doing the following: 1) Opening a blank Safari window and positioning it such that it was partially off screen with the Dock overlapping it. 2) Pasting the problem URL (http://www.munichmovie.com) into the address bar. 3) Hitting Return to load the page while dragging the Safari window so that it was no longer overlapping the Dock. And the EZ uninstall for this update would be...? ;-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3949-hacked-osx86-updated-to-1043/page/12/#findComment-26644 Share on other sites
Sudar
You are right, there are some strange things discovered by me about the system's behaviour after this notorious update - not like yours, but.. For instance, "Accounts" and "Security" tabs became non-functional, mouse lives its own life when Microsoft Entourage is in front and maybe smth more that I cannot recall right now. Flash in Safari works fine though.. In native mode. But nonetheless despite that all the update has given the system SPEED! And therefore it ought to be foregiven for all these small bugs! EtherealRemnant
The solution is simple: Reinstall OS X. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3949-hacked-osx86-updated-to-1043/page/12/#findComment-26705 Share on other sites
Tak
has anyone come up with an "Undo" for this yet. Restore from the backup you made before installing this update? If you don't have a backup, you could extract the installer file and make a list of all the new files. Then restore the the same files from the 10.4.1 DVD and overwrite the new versions installed. Probably not worth the hassle though, it might not work. Might be quicker to reinstall 10.4.1. And next time, always make a backup before installing significant updates such as this Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3949-hacked-osx86-updated-to-1043/page/12/#findComment-26710 Share on other sites

rykielz
I installed the update, I thought everything went well, but after I rebooted nothing was changed. When I clicked on about this mac it still said that I have OSX 10.4.1 I dont know what to do. I cant reload the update, because it took up all the space that I had... and I think I deleated the install file....I am an idiot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3949-hacked-osx86-updated-to-1043/page/12/#findComment-26738 Share on other sites
NuhkaX
After you install the update your system will still say 10.4.1. The update only updates certain parts of the OS with 10.4.3 version of files. Safari is updated with x86 Flash along with some other components. Its going to say 10.4.1 because its still 10.4.1 - 10.4.3 has not been cracked yet. This is just a speed update and includes Quicktime 7, etc. If you would have read that lovely little document that came with it, you'd know that. Also, the posts on the board clue you in on that too. NuhkaX
Yes, i have that directory but i have no that file.. Or start with the archive.pax ? When you got the 10.4.1. to 10.4.3 update file it should have been named "OSXupdate.tar". When you expand the tar file there should have been 2 files, a osx86-update.pkg and a readme.txt. All you would have to do is run the .pkg file. It sounds like you unpacked the .pkg and then burned that to DVD, if so I have no idea how to run the update. I would unpack the osxupdate.tar again and just burn the osx86-update.pkg to a DVD. At that point run the .pkg from the DVD. Jamie
You know I have to wonder if we're not aiding in their security development. I mean look at the 10.4.3 update. It worked great for some. Some it made worse. It's almost as if they're playing with features to see what will prevent us from making it work while still making it better for their own hardware. They give each update a few days and then check the forums to see how things went. You know good ole steve probably isn't above coming to one of these forums too! You can't tell me no one else has thought about that. You know I have to wonder if we're not aiding in their security development. I mean look at the 10.4.3 update. It worked great for some.
