jrrjrr
It is going to get harder and harder to make these "universal" install DVDs as Apple makes more and more of the code Mac specific and they leave behind more and more of the things that were compatible with the original ADC (?) machines. I think we need to get the hang of fixing a few minor things ourselves after the main install. nagal
I do not see the need for a new release. I had no trouble with the DVD as is. Sure I had to do a bit of research to figure out things about the install and how to configure ktexts but isn't that half the fun? After my 3 time installing it was just as easy (and a whole lot faster) than doing a Windows install. Schwinn555
"I have traied to install it on an intel 845g, it works but without internet and on an intel 945 just wont load the installer sad.gif Gateway 310 intel 845g chipset built in audio built in video built in LAN Celeron SSe2 2.6ghtz 384 mb 266" end Quote: You may want to try the Myzar 10.4.6 DVD. It's available on Pirates Cove and works perfectly on my Gateway 300S which would seem to be nearly the same as your 310 just one model older . Both the jas 10.4.7 & 10.4.8 mess things up so went back to the Myzar and have not had access to the new jas 10.4.8 DVD . My guess is it not not going to work well either without a lot of fixing. EPDM
I think we definitly a better DVD at least one which doesn't break the things that previously worked the way it should. But as jrrjrr mentioned. With each new OSX this is going to be harder as more ADC-stuff gets thrown out. SO in the end OSX will work fine on real macs and have problems on Hacks (which is intentional offcourse). It's clear that we ought to find out more specific details about current and future macs and concentrate on that. It's no use to try to fi stuff for older obsolete systems (I mean:"Come'on who hasn't got a CPU nowadays without SSE3?!?!?") I just which Apple wouldn't tie apps to their lates versions so much. I am perfectly happy with a 10.4.5 or even 10.4.3 as long as I can use the apps that I require. I don't feel the need to always have the latest especially with OS's. I mean the OS is not important, the apps are. Therefore I find it more important to get Aperture and universal Photoshop running an ALL 10.4-versions then patching OS-revisions. Besides we'll always gonna be one step behind with our OS-patches but less so with application patches. Just my 2 cents.
