mengshi
I got issues. Thank goodness I have 2 Ventura installations on 1 computer. Tried it on a separate SSD. Jumped from Ventura without reading the forum. LOL 1. Used Apple upgrade to upgrade. It went to the welcome screen and etc but it my Intel i218-LM Ethernet using Intelmausi.kext 1.08 is not detected. Will try Intelmausiethernet.kext when I manage to get back in again. 2. USB issue of course. So jumped back to working Ventura and did the USBMap fix -> Got the mouse and keyboard to "work" but I think the keyboard is spitting out gibberish because my password basically does not work. Can someone tell me how to get the virtual keyboard up at the login screen to type in the password? 3. Will need to apply OCLP-MOD above to get the Broadcom wifi to work. 4. Highly likely will roll back using Recovery and perhaps try sequential. What's up with Whatevergreen.kext. Do I need it or not? I also note that Tahoe has higher CPU work-load (Intel Power Gadget). FileVault was turned on during the Welcome process. How tro turn this off? verdazil
Hi, @mengshi. It would be correct to follow this concept: one post - one question, otherwise the discussion turns into a Greek salad... 1. Upgrading from a fairly old system to a new one (macOS 13 ---> macOS 26) on our Hackintoshes isn't the best solution. With such a radical update, it is often difficult to understand whether the problem lies in the bootloader settings or in the update process itself. A new system is released once a year, and it's better to spend a couple of hours on a clean installation than many hours fixing update issues. Let me make it clear that this is only my personal opinion, based on personal experience. 2. There is no virtual keyboard for this situation. If you have encryption enabled, add the OpenUsbKbDxe.efi OpenCore driver. 3. The current OCLP-mod release does not support your Wi-Fi. 4. Whether a WhateverGreen.kext is needed depends on the graphics card. Generally, it is. But, for example, my RX 6600 doesn't need one, as it works perfectly fine without it. 4a. I don't know what you (and others) are doing to force the FileVault to be turned on (without the user's prompt) during installation or update. I've done many Tahoe installations on machines with processors of different generations, and I've always received a prompt to turn on FileVault, which I could always decline. 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361679-release-macos-tahoe-26/page/3/#findComment-2840777 Share on other sites

To prevent the FileVault issue, we should use apfs_aligned.efi in UEFI → Drivers and disable EnableJumpstart in UEFI → APFS. The driver can be found in the link below. https://github.com/acidanthera/OcBinaryData/blob/master/Drivers/apfs_aligned.efi 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361679-release-macos-tahoe-26/page/3/#findComment-2840779 Share on other sites
Cyberdevs
Finally found some time to update my Z690 rig to macOS Tahoe, I used the full installer and everything went smoothly. Still waiting on the WiFi patch, but I'm going to stay on Sequoia as my daily driver. Next step is to update the Z270 rig and see how it goes. Zevgoli
I just had to reinstall Tahoe via Recovery due to a screw up. This went smoothly but what was so amazing was that I was brought back to my last desktop profile with everything intact. I didn't have to use migration assistant to restore anything. When you reinstall macOS from recovery it keeps your data intact unless you use Disk Utility and erase the disk first. 3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361679-release-macos-tahoe-26/page/3/#findComment-2840813 Share on other sites

Any ideas why would be highly appreciated! Thanks! 1. USBToolbox's UTBMap.kext needs an additional entry in each port (info.plist), like this: 2. OCLP-Mod(the Pre-Release) Root Patch with the legacy-USB flag 3. install "Wireless USB OC Big Sur Adapter V17" https://github.com/chris1111/Wireless-USB-OC-Big-Sur-Adapter/releases/download/V17/Wireless.USB.OC.Big.Sur.Adapter-V17.zip 4. et voila - enjoy WiFi (at least this was working for me) 3 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361679-release-macos-tahoe-26/page/3/#findComment-2840817 Share on other sites
Zevgoli
Is there a list of kexts for Tahoe that are common to all hackintoshes? I know there are many that are needed to customize certain PC"s. In other words are there must haves that should be in all EFI'S? Cheers, Howard 1 hour ago, Cyberdevs said: No, that has been a thing for a long while now. kaoskinkae
After a few days of using macOS 26 Tahoe in the final version. I had already used the beta versions since beta 1. One of the things that has changed is the management of sound and brightness through the keyboard. In this version, it appears at the top along with the system date and time. The sound is displayed perfectly and you can turn it up and down at will. But the brightness is another issue, although it works, and you can turn the brightness of the connected monitors down at will. It isn't represented as the sound with a bar that goes up and down. The brightness works perfectly, but it doesn't work like it did in previous versions of Mac. I don't know if the program we use for this isn't adapted to the new way sound and brightness are displayed. I use NativeDisplayBrightness, which is present at system startup. I've even compiled and adapted it to macOS Tahoe. Is there any way to fix this? https://github.com/Bensge/NativeDisplayBrightness 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361679-release-macos-tahoe-26/page/3/#findComment-2840839 Share on other sites

Zevgoli
Hey, I'm having ongoing issues with Bluetooth on the final release. It continually turns on and off each reboot or turning on fresh. The only way I can get it to turn on and detect my keyboard is clearing NVRAM every single time which is a real pain.
